Executive Summary
Cloudbeds software is the application which are used by hotel industries in order to carry
out the business transactions in effective and efficient manner. The aim of present study was to
explore understanding about the important of Cloudbedds software with reference to Hilton
Hotel. In this context, an extensive analysis has been carried out by using precise research
methods. Questionnaire has been provided to the managers of Hilton Hotel and from the analysis
it was found that Cloudbeds software greatly assist the management in reducing their efforts and
cost incurred in the process of transactions.

INTRODUCTION
Digital technologies are used by companies in order to attain competitive advantage for
its external and internal operations. In the present era, technologies are dominating in almost all
the business sector as it helps in reducing the time, efforts and cost to the organisation. In
accordance with the research topic Cloudbeds is one of the most useful software which is used
by the Hilton Hotel in order to ease up the customer transaction process. In this part of research
project, extensive study is carried out in order to determine its significance to the organisation.
The research enables to determine the significance of Cloudbeds in improving their business
performance.
P3 Conducting primary and secondary research using appropriate methods
Research methodologies are essential part of the research study where researcher
describes about research methods, which are used by him in order to attain aim and objectives of
the research study (Taylor, Bogdan and DeVault, 2015). In this context, researcher will discuss
about methods, which has been used by him in order to accomplish the aim and objectives of the
study. The research philosophy, strategy, design and approach will be discussed in the study. The
ways by which data can be accumulated will be determined in this part, the method of sampling
used by the researcher will be discussed in this part. Eventually, ethical consideration and
research limitations will be discussed in this part.
Research Philosophy
Research philosophy determines the way or process of accumulating, analysing and
synthesising the collected data. As per Saunders Research Onion, research philosophy is the first
criteria to be covered by the researcher in order to carry out the research in effective and efficient
manner (Mackey and Gass, 2015). There are four types of research philosophy that are used by
researchers, which helps them in conducting research analysis. These are positivism, realism,
pragmatism and interpretivism.
In the present research study, researcher has used interpretivism research philosophy.
This rationality serves researcher in understanding the genuine issue of the exploration and
legitimize the issue alongside suitable arrangement. Thus, by using interpretivism research
philosophy, the researcher has been able to accumulate data from Hilton Hotel effectively and
was able to analysed it efficiently.
Research Approach

Research approach is a plan and procedure that consists of steps of broad assumptions to
detailed method of data collection, analysis and interpretation. Discussion of research approach
is important in the research study as it helps the researcher to comprehend the aspect of the
research study in efficient manner. Research approach has been classified into deductive and
inductive research approach (Lewis, 2015). In the present study, researcher has used inductive
research approach. This research approach provided assistance to the researcher in examining the
research questions in more effective and efficient manner. Through this researcher systematically
able to provide solutions to the research questions.
Research Design
Research design is considered as a plan, which helps the researcher to attempt the
research questions. Before carrying out the research study, it is essential for the researcher to
select appropriate research design that helps him or her in analysing research questions
adequately (Lewis, 2015). There are various types of research design, which are used by
researchers in order to carry out the research study. In the present research study, researcher has
utilised exploratory research design, which helps in exploring research questions more
efficiently. Through exploratory research design, researcher explored deeper aspects and
concepts of Cloudbeds software utilised by Hilton Hotel.
Research Strategy
Research strategy refers to the plan, which guides author in accomplishing the aim and
objectives of the study. To achieve the objectives of the research study, it is essential for the
researcher to select precise strategy (Flick, 2015). In this context, researcher has used
quantitative research strategy. As quantitative research strategy helps in analysing the numerical
data associated with the research effectively thus, quantitative research strategy has been
appropriate for the study. Through quantitative research method, researcher was able to analyse
the numerical data associated with the study.
Data Collection
Data collection refers to the process of accumulation of research data by using different
modes and methods. Data can be obtained from both primary and secondary methods and the
difference between both the data; primary method research collects data all by him or herself by
meeting with participants face to face (Silverman, 2016). In Secondary Data, researcher search
for already collected data from websites, books and journals. In the present study, investigator

accumulated data by using questionnaire method, which has been provided to the managers of
Hilton Hotel. Close ended questions have been asked to them and must fill it within an
organisation. From secondary data, books, journals and other articles has been used.
Sampling
Sampling is the process of reducing the size of surveying population by using statistical
or non-statistical approaches. It reduces the efforts of researcher and enhances the quality of
analysis (Ledford and Gast, 2018). As collecting data from large population is pragmatically not
possible for researcher thus in this case sampling is used by the researcher. There are two
approaches of sampling which are probability and non-probability approaches. Among these
two, the researcher has made use of non-probabilistic sampling. The investigator has proper
understanding about the samples that are to be selected. 20 managers from Hilton Hotel are
chosen as they have proper understanding about the research topic.
Data Analysis
Data analysis refers to process by which researcher transforms raw data into meaningful
information. From research perspective, analysing data is considered to be the most important
part to analyse and interpret the data with the help of tables and illustrations. There are two
methods to analyse the data (Brinkmann, 2014). One way of analysing data is by using statistical
tools like SPSS, R, etc. in order to quantify descriptive data, statistical tools are the best way to
analyse data. Another method is thematic analysis where researcher formulates themes on the
basis of questions which he or she has asked to the participants of research. Thematic analysis
can be applied to both qualitative and quantitative study; in the present study, researcher has used
thematic analysis to analyse and interpret the data.
Cost Consideration
In order to attain the aim and objectives of the research, researcher spends around £1500.
Majority of the cost has been spent on literature review where researcher has to purchase articles
from reliable sources. Furthermore, researcher has to travel to Hilton Hotel, which involve travel
and convenience costs. Petty expenses are also included in the study which include printing and
documenting of the study.
Access Issues
Several accessibility issues were found during the accumulation of primary and
secondary data associated with the study. Issues regarding obtaining consent of participants was

found during primary collection of data. This was done by taking permission from top authority
of Hilton Hotel. During secondary data, researcher faced site restriction issues as some of the
websites were not easily accessible.
Ethical Consideration
To attain the aim and objectives in ethical manner, researcher must follow the ethical
norms and conducts to carry out the research. Ethical consideration are moral duties and
responsibilities of researcher which he or has to follow so that the aim and objective of the study
can be accomplished (Humphries, 2017). Researcher in the present study, provided the
information and purpose of the study to the participants in order to gain their consent.
Participants participation was voluntary and they could leave the survey whenever they want.
Furthermore, researcher did not disclosed any confidential information about the organisation
and respected the anonymity of the participants.
Research Limitations
Research limitations are the restrictions and obstructions which are faced by the
researcher during the research study (Panneerselvam, 2014). In the present research study,
researcher faced few limitations which are described below: Resistance of participants: In the present research researcher has estimated that the
managers participants in the study will resist in participating in the research study. This
will increase time and efforts of researcher.
 Data Collection and analysis: Researcher faced difficulties in accumulating and
analysing data as there were numerous methods available and researcher got confused
which method to be use in order to collects and analyse the data.

The aim of present research was to explore understanding about significance of
Cloudbeds software within hotel management: A case study on Hilton Hotel'. I have selected
Hilton Hotel as it is one of the renowned hotel which operates in the United Kingdom.
Cloudbeds software widely used by the hotel industries which assists them in enhancing the
guest experience. In order to carry out the research study, I have used different research methods
which were most precise and suitable that helped me in accomplishing the aim and objectives of
the study. For the research philosophy I have used interpretivism as it allows user to eliminate
human interference from the research and help in focusing on the key elements associated with
the research study. I have used inductive research approach for comprehending the research
questions and attaining the aim and objectives of the study. Inductive research approach helps in
analysing the research questions more effectively and assists in accomplishing the aim and
objectives of the study. Discussion of research approach was very essential for me as it provides
users and readers an understanding about how I accomplished that objectives of the research. For
the research design I decided to use exploratory research design.
Exploratory research design assists in exploring the research questions more effectively
and efficiently. The exploratory research design was effective as it allows researcher to
independently explore the various aspects of the research study. For the research strategy I have
selected quantitative research strategy. Quantitative research strategy concerned with
measurement and can show relationships between things using statistics. It can be incredibly
complex and mathematical and it seeks to explain how things are related to each other. It is
replicatable and readily applicable across different contexts. Thus, with lots of benefits

associated with the quantitative research, I decided to select quantitative research strategy. As
numerical data was present in my study, this research method could turned out to be very useful
and appropriate which helps me in attaining the aim and objectives of the study. Data collection
is very crucial part of the research study and it was essential for me to select appropriate way to
collect research data. For collection of data, I used questionnaire method. Questionnaires were
appropriate as population size was large. Questionnaire has been provided to the managers of
Hilton Hotel by hand and they have to complete it and submit it to me after completing. I
explained them the purpose of the study respectively and gained their consent afterwards. In
order to save their time I only asked them 10 close ended questions so that survey can be
complete speedily. This method helps in accumulating the data very effectively and I was able to
analyse the data effectively and efficiently.
Due to large number of survey population, I have to take sample. I used simple random
sampling method in order to reduce the size of population. Sampling was important as collecting
data from large population was not practically possible for me. In this context, I have selected 20
managers and provided them questionnaire. This reduce my as well as managers burden. They
cooperated with me very well and I got 100 per cent response rate. It means that all the 20
managers have filled the survey completely. With the complete response I was able to analyse
the data adequately and sufficiently. To analyse the data, I have used thematic analysis. Thematic
analysis is agile and easy way to analyse the data. The themes were established on the basis of
the responses and it was represented with the help of tables and charts. In order to enhance the
effectiveness of the study, I have used different charts which enhances the comprehensive
understanding of the participants of the study.
I have followed all the ethical laws and conducts which were necessary to follow. I have
gained consent of the participants after explaining them the motive of the study. I have not asked
any question which tarnished the organisational reputation and also I have maintained the
confidentiality of the participants. The content has been written by me in my own words so that
chances of plagiarism can be avoided. I faced few limitations like resistance of participants. At
first the participants were not ready to take part in the survey. After taking permission from the
higher authority and explaining them the motive they were ready to participate. Collecting data
and analysing it was another issue I faced during the research process. Thus, the selected
research methods were effective and efficient enough with the help of which I was able to attain

the aim and objectives of the study. The method which I have selected were effective enough
which supports me in enhancing my understanding and through which I was able to attain the
aim and objectives of the study. In order to analyse the data effectively, I have used thematic
analysis. Thematic analysis helps me in interpretation of data and it also reduces the efforts of
readers.
P7 Alternative research methodologies and outcomes
Alternative research methodologies can be used in order to carry out the research study.
There are different types of methods and strategies which can be used in order to conduct
research study (Bauer, 2014). For research philosophy, researcher could use positivism
philosophy. It is suitable with the quantitative research and could help researcher in analysing the
data. For research approach deductive method can be used. But for deductive research approach
researcher instead of formulating research questions must creates hypothesis. Deductive research
approach testifies the hypotheses and provides appropriate justification to the study. Deductive
research approach can be used in order to attain the aim and objectives of the study (Billig and
Waterman, 2014). Furthermore, the descriptive research design can be used by the researcher.
Descriptive research can be used with deductive research approach. In this researcher can
describe the issue and focus on the hypotheses more effectively. Researcher can carry out the
study by using qualitative research methods. In order to collect data, researcher could carry out
interview with the managers of Hilton Hotel.
From the above research study I have learned the way research study carried out. In order
to conduct research study, it is essential for me to follow the ethical codes and conducts of the
research. I was able to know more about Hilton Hotel which is one of the renowned hotel
operating in United Kingdom. The way one has to communicate in the corporate world is
essential to know as I have to develop my career in this field only. Thus, from the research study
I was able to learn about the process of research and the way research project made. In the
research I have applied the precise research methodologies in order to obtain robust outcome.
From the outcomes derived it can be understood that this research study can be carry out by
alternative research methods. From the whole research I have obtained immense knowledge and
education regarding the way of conducting research study. I will apply the learnings in future
researches so the effectiveness in my skills can be enhanced.
