are important for students that are
necessary for setting and learning
various things in their academic life.
These communication skills that is
effective communication is very
helpful as it assists them in enhancing
their skill and knowledge for positive
outcomes in their lives. The brochure
is based on effective communication
in student’s life who are studying
abroad. The brochure covers various
challenges and barriers that are there
in effective communication. It also
discusses the strategies for
overcoming these barriers. This
brochure is based on the
communication barriers faced by UK
students going for higher studies in
China.
Common challenges and barriers to effective
communication
Certain common challenges as well as
barriers of effective communication
faced by UK students studying in
China are as follows:
Cultural barriers- The culture and
tradition differ in the world. This
diversity results in creation of barriers to
effective communication (Jevons and et.
al. 2019). Chinese culture is different
from UK which also reflects in their
teaching practices.
Language barriers - The students studying abroad face
various issues with language as these students come
from different places, background and there is
completion difference in their language all over the
world as this makes them feel insecure about their
language resulting in poor communication. Chinese
assent of teachers creates issues for UK students in
understanding their lectures.
Academic practices- Teaching style and
assignment requirements are different in
China as they strictly focus on studies which
poses as a challenge for UK students.
Time difference- Due to time gap of 7 hours
in time horizon of China and UK, students
do not get get time to talk with their friends
and families. This practices poses as a
challenge for them and felt them homesick.
Lack of common interests- Chinese and UK students
do not share interests and hobbies which create
challenges for them to get indulging with each other in
a strategic manner.
