INTRODUCTION
Communication skill plays a very important role in a an individual life as this skill is
being considered as the most significant skill which must be posses by the individual in order to
become successful in their life. Effective communication skill may be defined as the ability of a
person to share or convey the ideas, thoughts and feelings in front of the public
effectively(Covello, 2020). With the help of this skill effective relationship can be develop in the
different areas of organisation and universities. Communication skill is are of tow type i.e.,
verbal and non-verbal. It is very important for an individual to speak in a very appropriate
manner with proper eye contact. The following report is going to discuss about the significance
of the effective communication for a student in higher education and its effectiveness in their
life
TASK
Effective communication as well as the good interpersonal skill is being considered as the
most important ability which assist the individuals or students in collaborating with the peers in
to make the conversation more effective and impactful. With the help of this skill the assigned
work can be carry out with more ease and in a very systematic way so that the individual feel
more engaged and familiar. The communication skill is basically categorizes in two forms has
been discussed below: -
 Verbal communication: -this may be defined as that type of communication in which
words as well as language is used in order to convey the thoughts, feelings and idea. This
make the work easy and stable. Example of verbal communication are speech,
conversation and many more.
 Non verbal communication: - this is basically that way of communication in which
information is convey with the help of non verbal platform like eye contact, facial
expressions, gestures, posture, and body language.
Importance of effective communication skill for students: -
 Initial Emphasis on reading is very important: -if a student want to developed
communication skill then they have to be a good learner(Hargie, 2018). This enrich their
vocabulary as well as knowledge. Communication skill help the students in
communication all the topics and knowledge which are developed by them with the

reading. With the help of this skill a student can effectively read books, newspapers,
magazines, anything that they find interesting.
 Emphasise on writing to communicate well with words: - it is also very important for
a student to be a good writer. With the help of good writing communication skill a
student can easily express their words thoughts with the correct tone and and put the idea
effectively(Sutiyatno, 2018). Communication should not be confusing, if it is then wrong
information can be send which result in issues. Effective written communication assist
the students in present the work in evidence and student know how to write and how to
write.
Communication skills development is crucial to be an effective student in higher education.
Communication skill is being considered as the most important skill which assist in
becoming an effective student in higher education. It is very important that the communication
which is done by the student must be nurtured so that they don't look intimidating to others. If
they behave in polite manner then they can easily approach to any one without any hesitation.
Patient listening is also assist the student in empathizing with others. It is being identified that
non verbal communication skill speaks louder then the verbal communication skill. Students
understand with the eyes actions and can easily pay the attention on the posture of the people and
their hand movements(Pratolo, 2019). This the is reason that this skill assist the student in
effectively work in a team and get people along. If the students wants to develops leadership
qualities within them, then the communication skill plays a very vital role. It is very important
for the student to develop the both forms of skill within them in order to initiate the different
types of task in their life. If the student possess the good communication skill then they feel more
confident and self-esteem and they are appreciated in the class and remain in the hearts of the
peers and teachers throughout their life. It is very important for the students to do the research
while perusing in the higher education. Post-Graduation, M.Phil and Ph.D and many more are
pursue by the students which require synopsis, dissertation and thesis. In the higher education the
application of higher education is done. So it is very important for the student to possess the
effective communication skill in order to complete all these. In higher education it is very
important for the student to become specialized in specific subject to pursue their career(Tang,
2020). For this they have to write the essay and the present the seminars as per their specialized

field. The effectiveness of the communication skill in the higher education has been discussed
below: -
 Project report: - while pursuing the higher education student need to do the research in
order to submit the project which are assigned to them. They have to write the project and
present in the classroom which make them an effective student in the higher education.
 Team work: - in the higher education students have to complete the give assignment in a
team in order to attain the task objectives. When a group is join by the student then they
have to work according to the team. This result in that the knowledge of the students has
been enhanced while working in a team which assist them in participating in N.S.S,
N.C.C and outreach programmes at higher education level in a very effective manner. So
the communication skill plays a very significant role in the higher education programme.
 Knowledge: -in order to increase the knowledge it is very important for the student to be
well versed in communication skill(Rao, 2019). This skill assist the student s in attaining
the wish of pursue higher studies in abroad. They also have to focus on the reading skill.
 Fieldwork: -while pursuing the higher education, students are sent to do the field work in
order to get the get the practical knowledge. The knowledge which are getting by the
students in their classrooms can be better accomplished if the student do in the fieldwork
practically. This assist them in getting better knowledge about the subjects and get
exposed to experience. If effective communication is developed by the students within
them, then they can increase their knowledge which give benefit to their higher
education.
Different ways to collaborate with your peers during this module which helped you develop
effective communication skills.
 Have a clear goal and make sure everyone in your team is aware of it: it is very
important that all the team members should aware about the output that need to be bring
out(Succi and Canovi, 2020). During this module I make sure that, all my team members
should know about the goals or have a clear idea about the goals. The collaboration will
only be effective if the goals are communicate in a very effective manner to the peers.
This helps me in developing effective communication skill within me.
 Know your role in the team: - if project wants to be complete in a proper manner then
this needs the group of people or learners who work together. During this module, I

effectively communicate the role which have to be perform by each team members by
communicating with them and understanding their interest of field and strengths. This
result in that the entire team carry out the task efficiently and collaboratively. All the task
has been written by me on a paper, by communicating with the group members and
according to their interest roles has given by me.
 Be loyal: - during this module, I will be very efficient and disciplined and act a very
responsible person in the team. By doing this, all my team members treated me as very
loyal and trust worthy person. These qualities assist me in developing a collaborative
environment, which result in that all the team members work together and effective
communication skill has been developed within me.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that effective communication plays a very
important role in an individual life. It is very important for the students to possess the effective
communication skill in order to achieve a successful position in life or better career. This report
concluded the importance and the types of communication skill. This report also concluded the
importance of the effective communication skill to become an efficient in the higher education.
Along with this, this report also concluded the different ways to collaborate with the peers,
which help in developing the effective communication skills.
