Assessment Criteria:To achieve a Satisfactory result, your assessor will be looking for your ability to demonstrate the key skills/tasks/knowledge detailed in the Assessment Task to industry standard. For assessment 3 you are required to chooseONE case study from the following .We will be working through these in class in groups, class attendance at these sessions would significantly help you to complete this task. Task must be submitted idependently not in groups. Case Study 1: You work for Woden Community Services and support a large numbers of volunteers working with the Big Issue Magazine as one of your Community Development Initiatives. You want to highlight the stories, roles and empowerment that Big Issue Vendors experience along with advocating for people within the Canberra Community in poverty or hardship. Your idea is to involve vendors in the process as much as possible, whilstengaging the very busy business and retail community around Woden in a discussion, resioure or maybe an event. You have a limited budget, and need to keep it as sustainable as possible. Case Study 2: You are working in an area of newly housing in Canberra as a Community Development worker with the Mingle Program. Throsby is a new suburb in Gungahlin that backs onto a large nature reserve. You have a supportive relationship with many homeowners, however people in their neighbourhood just don’t know eachother or connect regularly. You have an initial brief to engage with the community, learn and map its assets and plan an appropriate event or resource that will empower the local community. You have a budget line for Throsby but also a direction to focus on sustaibability in time. Case Study 3: You are working for a Regional Community Council in Bredbo, NSW. Your community has had some of its farms including some houses in outlying areas destroyed by recent bushfires, like many other rural areas in Australia. The COVID-19 pandemic has seen a large reduction in passing trade and lots of people are feeling isolated, experiencing financial hardship and disempowerment. You are new to this community but have a project brief to activate, and empower people given the current situation. Case Study 4: You work with the YWCA Lanyon and have received some funding for a project involving encouraging young people to access Bicycles and other forms of emissionless transport. You have an active partnership with SeeChange and are aware of Bike Library Bike Loan, and Bike Repair projects that are in place in Gungahlin and other cities. The focus is to be on younger people who do not own their own bike, or have bicyles in disrepair. Your brief includes that any program developed must be run in large part by local young people. .

Groups will be divided into elite and lower income level which will impact the program. Cultural barrier: cultural barrier is one of the most common type of barrier that will impact this program, people from different cultural will have their own perception and might rise issue for example conflict. What aspirations may be present in this community? Communal welfare: communal welfare is one of the most important aspirations in the community, this simply means each and every member of the community will focus on communal welfare that allow them to contribute in betterment of the socuiety and in betterment of the country. Aspirations is outcome that community want to achieve, this simply means they will join community and its activities for welfare of community. Emissionless transportation: Mura Lanyon Youth and Community Centre (MLYCC), have aspirations to promote emissionless transportation and allow youth to be healthy and sustainable towards environment (Eriksen and Stefansen, 2021). This community want to promote sustainability and want youth to understand importance of environment and its impact on the human life.

The focus of this community is to provide bicycle to those young people who do not own their bike or their bicycle is disrepair (Lillie and et.al., 2020). This community project have certain benefit, this not only allow yough to understand importance of emissionless transportation but this will allow them to educate themselves regarding health and benefit they will get from bicycle. Local community: local community will going to play vital role, community is key stakeholders that will provide every kind of help in achievement of the project.

Empowerment: empowerment is another effective strategy that will help community leader to\ engage and communicate with the community and other organizations that might work with YWCA Lanyon. Through motivation and empowerment to youth and people connected with this project, YWCA Lanyin can achieve aims they have crafted. Activities: small activities that allow youth and other stakeholders to engage in the community project, for example arranging group meeting where every key stakeholders and member of community will share their views and provide recommendation in the improvement process (Raderstrong and Boyea-Robinson, 2016). Small activities or arranging small event will help this youth community to boost engagement and allow stakeholders and other organisations to actively participate in the process.
