1CONTEMPORARY LEADERSHIP TYPES FOUND IN THE WORLD Abstract The aim of the report is a summary of the different leadership styles followed across the world and its alignment with the style followed in Banvit, a consumer goods industry in Turkey. The contrast between the leadership styles as observed from the interview with the manager reveal that usually the participative style of leadership is followed here, although meetings involving greater hierarchy follows the authoritative style and the ultimate fate of the procedure depends at the discretion of the head of the company. This report gives a detailed description of the different types of leadership styles usually found, and how it varies with that followed by the manager of Banvit.

This report provides an overview of the leadership styles usually followed earlier and changes followed by the manager of a company. Literature review Leadership is the kind of process by which an executive is able to guide, direct as well as influence the behaviour of members and help them in succeeding by accomplishing their goals in specific situations1. Authoritarian leadershiprefers to the autocratic kind of behaviour, which have absolute authority and control over subordinates. Moreover, it may demand unquestionable obedience. Authoritarian leaders would issue rules, exercise control through initiation of power, receiving accolades for compliance.Participative leadershipinvolves identification of essential goals as well as development of strategies or procedures for those goals. Such leadership styles are seen usually in volunteer organisations, business environments. Methods For finding out the contemporary styles of leadership followed in Banvit, an interview have been taken using a semi-structured interview (SSI). SSI is a method usually designed for subjective responses from persons during a particular phenomenon or situation6. It was preferred in this case for convenience of analysing responses. Findings From the interview, it has been observed that the manager of Banvit follows a transformational form of leadership. The autocratic style of leadership used to be followed earlier. However, due to changing concepts of the work environment andcompetition among the employees, the manager follows the transformational style. Conclusion It can be concluded that the manager of Banvit follows the transformational style. Although, autocratic style of leadership have been the primary style followed earlier, contemporary styles of leadership have evolved and the manager observes high motivation in workspace by following the transformational style.
