INTRODUCTIONWith the increasing modernisation, people now a day are more concerned towardssocial value. Customer’s expectations are constantly increasing towards the socialresponsibility activities undertaken by the company. In this report, various issues are beingdiscussed faced in CSR such as political, economic, environmental, social etc. Further, adetailed impact of CSR on the business performance of NIKE is being explained below.Further, the study tells about the benefits employees received in the company through CSRactivities. As the businesses are expanding globally, there is a great need for any business toachieve competitive advantage and sustainability. Now company’s objective frommaximising profits has shifted to maximising social value as the business grow in the longrun if it is involved in various corporate social responsibility activity. The following report isending by evaluating CSR policy of Adidas to gain relevant insights on given subject. ASSIGNMENT I1.1 Definition of CSRCorporate Social Responsibility is an approach adopted by the business that put insustainable and constant development of a company by delivering social, environmental, andeconomic benefits for all the stakeholders. It aims at ensuring that company demeanour theirbusiness in an ethical way (Zu, 2008). CSR activities include the following activities:Developing healthy relationship with respective customers and employeesSustainability and protecting environment.Partnership with local communitiesSocially responsible investmentThrough CSR activities business are gaining more competitive advantage, build brandloyalty with employees and customers. Also, there is a great increasing demand from society,employees, customers and government bodies for a business to be more open towards thesociety and they maintain and reach the level of standard of business practices. Therefore,Nike believes in fulfilling the values of the business as well as committing to fulfil theirsocial responsibility while adapting to the changing needs of the society (Fernie and Sparks,2014). 1.2 Description of the background and changing attitudes to CSR1

With the increase in globalisation, companies and organizations are not only confinedto nation-state. There is also a change in the rules of corporate governance. On one hand,globalisation has provided the opportunity to businesses to expand globally. On the otherhand, it also poses a great challenge for the businesses to the sustainability and viability(May, Cheney and Roper, 2007). Many MNC’s reacted positively to the changing forces and have reformed their policiesof social values and also redefined the business norms. They realised that the environmentalconcerns, marketing basis, developing partnerships enhance their business in every senseparticularly in context of recycling materials, more satisfaction and morale amongemployees, brand loyalty, and building up reputation as a marketing tool. Companies likeNike are increasing their business profits and sale through incorporating new innovationswith the help of CSR activities. These includes turning the waste into new products,refurbishing the manufacturing equipment’s which were used to be thrown as scrap,minimising the waste and pollution to zero, eliminating the unwanted products and servicesand continuing with the products consumers want (Mallin, 2009). 1.3 Regulatory frameworks for CSRIn UK the Companies act 2006 brings out the regulatory framework for CSR as updatedto reflect the environment of modern business. All companies other than small sizecompanies as a part of their director’s annual report prepare a business review. According tothe act from October 2007 quoted companies mandatorily disclose information related to thematters employee, environmental, social, and community as well as disclosure is alsorequired on any contractual and other arrangements essential to the business to the extent it isnecessary for an understanding the business of the company. The above disclosure add realvalue and increase the quality of narrative reporting. Further, this also promote responsiblebehaviour of operations of the company without imposing undue burden on the business. Incoming future time, to make CSR mandatory for all the business whether small or biglegislation will be enacted soon (Fernie and Sparks, 2014).1.4 Environmental issues in CSRTraditionally, the protection of environment has been considered to be in the interest ofpublic.
