Diversity in the workplace refers to the variety and differences among the employees
associated with the organisation. Diversity in the workplace is essential to ensure equal
and logical distribution of resources and opportunities are available. It minimises the
chances of an organisation having the biases and discriminatory views about any section
of the society. On the other hand, diversity and the arising differences in the employees
are beneficial for an organisation when managed efficiently. It expands and diversifies
the ideas and working culture of the organisation making it more resilient and adaptable
to changes. This presentation will review the presence of cultural diversity in Google.

Google originated as a search engine directory in 1998 and has today branched into other
internet associated services and products, advertising and cloud computing. Google is
clearly the most popular and most widely used search engine in the world today. Google
works by creating an index of web pages and provides its users to search for information
from those websites listed under it. So, when a person uses Google, they are not
searching the complete web but just only those websites that are included under it.

Over the years Google has expanded the range of services they provide. Through their
reach, they have taken over the advertising business where they collect information about
an individual’s activity and place relevant advertisements in their search content.

Cultural diversity has been chosen for this research. Cultural diversity was seen to have
the most far-reaching effect in business. By inculcating employees from different cultural
background, enable Google to diversify their business. As the business is expanding and
businesses are outsourcing labour and other services from other countries. As a result, the
work culture is being diversified. However, by taking steps to inculcate employees from
different cultures will provide an organisation with a wider range of skills and ideas. It
provides them with cultural insights which makes it possible for Google to branch out
their business in other countries to different people.

Articles and journals from the internet were used to get a better idea. The diversity
reports published by Google over three years were compared to consider the changes.
News Articles and reports were used to understand the diversity-related issues that the
company was facing.

There was noticed to be a hike among the employees hired from Latin by 5.3% and Black
by 2.8%communities in the technical departments. Among the non-technical
departments, Native American hires have risen by 1.6% which is more than a double of
what was noticed in the year 2018. Another pathbreaking increase was seen in the hires
from the Black community in the non-technical department. It has risen up to 9.2% and
