INTRODUCTION
Human resources refer to a department or division of an organisation, business or corporation
that manage overall aspects relevant to their personnel. It include various activities such as
recruitment of staff members, training & career development, overseeing compensation
packages, managing benefit plans and other duties. The present report will focus on requirements
of pursuing career in HR department including desired skills and knowledge to have a bright
future for a recent graduate (Currie, Burgess and Hayton, 2015). it include to determine all needs
regarding work experience, abilities and knowledge to enter in HR field to make career more
successful with growth in future. This assignment has a purpose of gathering appropriate
information about overall desired abilities, skills and experience which required for an individual
to become eligible for entering in HR sector. It will going to sue both primary and secondary
source of information in order to research actual requirements needed to make bright career in
HR field.

Analysis of the general trends that impacts of HR profession
The HR profession is related to manage overall activities and procedures of employees working
in an organisation including their hiring, training, development, compensation and many other
benefits. A person performing at HR position has various types of roles such as maintain
employee relations, company policies, transfer & promotion, training & development, plan &
coordinate administration functions and payroll. It is necessary for HR person to remain aware
about all the legal rules and regulations according to which company policies are required to be
up to date. However, they have to calculate amount of salaries and wages in correct way
according to legislations. Moreover, it has been analysed that there are several general trends
which impacts on HR profession in which few of them are described here (Sparrow and Otaye-
Ebede, 2014).

Technological trends – The advanced technological trends are helpful for HR professional
facilitating new innovation through which performance management, reducing bias and hiring
employees can be done more effectively trough technical applications. They can make
communication to every desired person in company in single stroke with the help of technology
and observe every movement of people at work place without visiting the actual location.
However, it is easy to maintain bulk of information in single system and efficiently ensure
privacy and confidentiality of information related to employees as well as organisation.
Moreover, they can place an advertisement through online mode which facilitates to welcome
fresh talent in company. The technology is helpful to make plans and manage overall
administrative tasks in more effective as well as efficient manner. In addition to this,
communication become very easy through which talented personalities can be hired from far
places without visiting any different location (Connell and Stanton, 2014). HR professional
going paperless which is helpful to centralise the data and protect from loss in event of disaster
or crisis. Basically, technology is supportive to create transparency and improvement in
productivity on regular basis which is favourable for business. HR professional can become
partner of IT for improving communication and encourage conversations, interactions as well as
team building which facilitate coordination in order to complete tasks more successfully with
better outputs.
Globalisation – The globalisation can be described when operating at global level i.e.
across the borders and dealing in different countries. It consist the factor if different cultures,
religion and corporate differences which is required to be maintained in an organisation.
However, HR professional is required to establish unique culture and atmosphere of work place
where every employee from different nations belongs to same religion of that company which
helps to reduce conflicts and improve coordination in performance. In addition to this, it is
necessary to make unity and healthy relation between employees belongs to various nations in
respect of maintain peaceful environment at workplace. Meanwhile, it is a kind of challenge for
HR professional but it is required for them to acquire an effective skill for doing the same.
Legal trends – The changes in legislations is required to be monitored by HR professionals and
necessary to make updation in company according to current laws and acts. It is necessary to
follow employment act, tax laws, equality act and many more while operating to avoid legal
issues with an organisation (Hunter, Saunders and Constance, 2016). However, inappropriate

payment to employees against laws can create legal problem if employees will file complaint and
government may take strict actions towards company. Legal action is not good for brand image
of an organisation as it effects on customers that reflect in number if sales and hence profitability
start reduces. It is necessary for an organisation to follow desired legislation and this is a role of
HR make sure about the same by updating legal requirements in company.
In context of recent graduate, it is helpful to analyse the impact of trends which are
required for an HR professional to be followed by remaining update. It will provide an idea to an
individual for gathering sufficient knowledge according to current trends which is favourable for
them to enter in HR field in order to get a good job. However, they will become capable to make
decisions in correct manner which facilitate to fulfil desired roles and responsibilities
appropriately. Information about these trends and their impacts on professional life makes a
person aware about changes die to which they remain update about them to take desired action at
work place accordingly (Griggs and et. al., 2015. Moreover, it will facilitate perform overall
tasks in more effective as well as efficient manner which provide support to achieve growth in
career and facilitate a successful professional life ahead.
Skills, knowledge and experience required in HR profession
The HR professional required various skills, abilities and knowledge which are necessary
for fulfil overall aspect including their roles and responsibilities in an organisation, it is
necessary for recent graduate to evaluate desired skills and experience which needed to make a
bright career in field of HR. However, it is essential for an individual to become aware about
required capabilities and put efforts to acquire them as soon as possible in respect of getting a
god job in the HR field. Moreover, there are various skills and knowledge is required to make a
bright career in HR profession in which some of them are given below.
Skills
o Effective communication The HR professional is required have effective
communication skill including clearly speaking and carefully listening which is helpful to
manage overall roles in proper manner. It is necessary for them to clearly communicate
about new policies and rules in order to establish an environment according to their plan
(Lopez-Cabrales, Bornay-Barrachina and Diaz-Fernandez, 2017). They should effectively
communicate as it impacts positively on mind set of staff members which can encourage
them to instruction of HR person.

o Motivation – The HR person is required to become motivational personality and
influence people by effective as well as positive words which encourage people to follow
the instructions properly. They have a role to help employees in order to fulfil their career
goals by providing them proper guidance. However, HR person can guide people to
perform well for gaining promotion, incentives and better increment. Moreover, it is
essential to understand needs of employees and encourage then for attaining more
benefits which is favourable for people as well as organisation.
o Approachability – This include making people comfortable in terms of sharing their
problems to HR manger. If people feel scared and not able to communicate anything then
it is not possible for HR to resolve their problems. However, they must have skill to make
welcoming environment so that employees can share their problem which can be solved
in respect of maintaining positive atmosphere for working more effectively.
o Critical thinking – This include to acquire skill for analysing strengths and weaknesses
of alternative solutions with the help of using logic as well as reasoning to make accurate
decision. It include to thoroughly evaluate suitability of different alternative options for
solving specific issue which facilitate to gain appropriate conclusion or approach to sort
out problem in correct way.
o Learning strategies – The HR professional is required to determine actual desires of
carrying out learning event or program for boosting up skills and abilities of staff
members. It will provide support to improve efficiency of workers and increase their
productivity in regular basis. However, it is necessary determine actual need of training
according which desired educational program or workshop should be organise as it is
beneficial for both people and business organisation (Armstrong and Taylor, 2014).
o Systems evaluation skill – This can be described as to determine measures or indicators
of performance of systems which are required to be improved for attaining better
outcomes from the same. HR professional must have skills to identify indicating factors
to analyse need of improvement and take immediate action for increasing performance in
order to fulfil related goals of the system in an organisation.
Knowledge
o Principles of personnel and human resources – This can be described as to gain
knowledge about overall aspects related to staff members in order to carried out them in

recruitment, training, selection, compensation, labour relations, negotiation, personnel
information system and other benefits to employees.
o Legislations and regulations There are various kinds of legislations made by
government such as employment law, equality act, taxation law, health & safety at work
place and many more. It includes making policies of organisation related to recruitment
formalities, contract and other policies according to present legal rules of the nation. In
addition to this, it is necessary gain knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures,
government regulations, executive orders, agency rules and democratic political process.
o Administration & management – In order to become HR professional, it is necessary to
gain knowledge about business management principles which are essential to manage
overall roles and responsibilities related to personnel. However, it involves gathering
proper information relevant to strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership
technique, production methods and coordination of people as well as resources.
Experience
The experience refers to working experience of an individual by doing several internships,
training or work in HR department in desired section like recruitment & selection, training &
development, payroll etc. it is necessary to gain 3 moths internship and 1-2 years of experience
of working in HR department in order to have bright future in career of HR profession.
Evaluation
The staring position in HR department is of HR executive in which a recent graduate
interested to learn about basic work which helps to gain opportunities in future to achieve
growth. However, they are interested in recruitment and selection field so the vacancy of HR
executive is suitable for them. It is helpful to gain experience and learn overall roles and duties
of HR department which are required to be done in accurate manner, moreover, it is favourable
to determine correct strategies and techniques to make appropriate decision and fulfil desired
responsibilities properly (Lester, 2014). The HR executive opportunity is preferred as compared
to others due to having an interest and goal of career. It is necessary to make bright future in this
field by gaining sufficient working experience in order to achieve success.
In context of future, having proper experience in HR department provide various
beneficial opportunities which can grab to become more successful in professional life. I can

CONCLUSION
From the above report, it has been conclude that HR profession is better choice for career and it
deals with different aspects of employees working in an organisation. It is necessary for an
individual to gain desired skills, knowledge and experience which provide support to become
successful HR professional. In addition to this, skills needed are Effective communication,
Motivation, Approachability, Critical thinking, Learning strategies & Systems evaluation skill.
Moreover knowledge required includes Principles of personnel and human resources,
Legislations & regulations and Administration & management. However, internships and 2
years of experience is necessary to gain successful position in HR profession.
