INTRODUCTION
Portfolio is a summarised version of the experiences driven by an individual in a particular
setting. In other words, it can be said to be the evidence for learning carried out by personnel in
academic or corporate life (Lukitasari, Handhika and Murtafiah, 2018). In this regard, it can be
stated that portfolio development is an important part of an individual's journey, especially when
they are studying at university. The current report seeks to demonstrate the reflection done by an
individual upon a group presentation. Furthermore, the project includes areas that need to be
developed further for the improvement of skill set. At the last, it constitutes development of an
action plan for carrying out enhancement or development of skills.
Reflect on your performance in the group presentation
Being a part of the coursework, I received an opportunity to be a part of the group
presentation. My tutor made a team of 5 members including me who had to give presentation on
a particular topic. This task enabled me to demonstrate my strong presentation skills in front of
my tutor, fellow team members and the class. With this, I was able to express mu views and
opinions in front of others in the best possible manner. The main intent hereby was to attain
higher grades. In relation to my experience as undergoing the group presentation task, I can say
that this task gave me a chance to build my self confidence and thereby strongly put forth my
mindset upon the subject matter (Sutarno and et. al., 2019). It also enabled me to develop my
public speaking skill. As per my analysis of the whole experience, I can recollect that the tutor
made me the group leader looking upon my ability to lead things and members in the best way.
Thus, not letting down my tutor at any point of time, I controlled the group task in an effective
manner. The time period given to us for preparing the presentation was 15 days. Being the leader
of the group, I decided that the group will meet every alternative day to discuss the progress of
each member as well as the group as a whole. In addition to this, the roles and responsibilities
were allotted to the members by me in accordance with their specialities, expertise and
likelihood. This enabled the members to put in their whole potential and abilities for the group
presentation task (Alajmi, 2019).
I personally did communication with each of the members to set a common timing for the
group meetings. Herein, I made use of my interpersonal skills which helped me a great deal in
talking to my team members and knowing their free time from the day. In addition to this, my

communication skills provided due assistance to me in setting interaction with the group and
leading them in a suitable manner such that their alignment with the timely completion of group
presentation is ensured. I noticed that there were some members who has personal differences
with one another and could not set aside those while working together in the group. To deal with
this issue, firstly I had a conversation with those members on an individual basis. After knowing
the cause of conflict or difference between them, I conversed with them collaboratively. In this
manner, I was able to make use of my conflict resolution skills and thereby resolve the
interpersonal conflicts underlying among them. With the help of this, the coordination and
collaboration was set between the members in an effective manner (Zain, and Sailin, 2019).
Within the meeting, I preferred to make use of clear communication in order to make sure
that the information can be properly comprehended by all the members in an effectual manner as
per the expectations. The language used by me was also such that it was easily understood by all
the members. This was aimed at reduction of chances of miscommunication within the group
members. Yet another skill that was handy at the time of group presentation task was time ma
management. This skill allowed me to set the meeting timings such that the other priorities do
not get neglected at any stage. Further, it enables the members to complete their individual work
as well as the group work before the allotted time frame (Koraneekij and Khlaisang, 2019). As it
was a group presentation task, thus it was important for us to make sure that there were no
internal conflicts within the team. In our case, the group meetings did involve some conflicts but
they were productive. So, the conclusion of those productive conflicts was fruitful for the group.
When the final presentation was made, the 5 presenters or the team members were
assessed individually on the basis of their responses to questions from assessors along with the
demonstration of presentation skills such as voice, eye contact, gesture, postures, time keeping
etc. (Aziz and Yusoff, 2018). When my team gave performance, it received praise for every
presenter was confident and showed more or less some signs of presentation skills. Thus, the
overall experience derived by me while undergoing the group presentation task was very
beneficial. It helped me to sharpen and enhance some of my skills. Also, it assisted me in
identifying the weak areas which can be developed to ensure task excellence in future time
period.

Areas to develop further
As per the analysis of my overall experience while undergoing the group presentation task,
I can state that I got a good command over many of the skills. Even though the group task
enabled me to sustain as well as enhance some of my skills, there were some shortcomings
which came in the way of our group task and thus acted as the barriers. In this relation, it has
been identified that I can improve my team working skills in order to make sure that there is
better coordination and cooperation between the members of the group. By improving team
working skills, an individual can ensure that the group tasks are carried out by them in a better
manner in future course of time (Rodriguez and Briones, 2018). Team working skills are
considered as being extremely important as this helps personnel to collaborate with each other in
a manner such that least number of conflicts emerges amidst the team. In addition to this, it is
also important for an individual to have sound conflict management skills as this helps the
individual to resolve any kind of conflict that arises between the members in a timely manner.
This skill ensures that a positive working atmosphere is developed whereby personnel are easily
able to collaborate as well as cooperate with one another (Ontario Centre for Workforce
Innovation, 2019). In relation to this, I have determined that my conflict management skills have
a scope for incorporating improvement. This will enable me to effectively work in a group with
other members and develop healthy relations with them in the long run. Thus, the self analysis
conducted by me with respect to the group presentation task led me to the inference that I need to
develop my team working and conflict management skills. The development of these skills will
assist me in future course of time in academic as well as professional settings. Thus, this will lay
down the foundation to my placement in a reputed and well renowned corporation.
Develop an action plan
It is very important for every individual to develop understanding about their own skills
as well as competencies so that they can effectively determine their specific lack areas. In order
to this in an appropriate manner, it is very much important for same person to conduct self
analysis (Zain and Sailin, 2019). This analysis is useful in determining the core strength as well
as weakness of the same person in terms of their personal as well as professional skills. It can be
later said that when individual got opportunity to develop their understanding regarding the skills
as well as the knowledge gap then they are able to measure their actual goal in between their
skills and the proposed time that would be acquired by the to address it effectively. The main

motive of conducting this analysis is to complete their assigned task without facing any sort of
challenge or issue. In this relation, self analysis leads to the inference regarding what are our
strengths and weaknesses in terms of skills. With this inference, one can easily ascertain the
skills that need to be effectively worked upon. For this purpose, the individuals develop an action
plan which is a framework that mentions their current and target rating along with the actions
that will be taken by them to improve their weak areas.
My self analysis has led me to the conclusion that my conflict management and time
management skills are relatively weak and thus can be improved in an effectual manner. So, I
have made an action plan which will allow me to work upon both of these skills and thereby
incorporate improvements in the same. By executing the planned course of action to improve the
skills, a person can be able to enhance or improve the skills to a large extent (Koraneekij and
Khlaisang, 2019). This will enable me to carry out personal development. Also, it will lead me to
gain entry into the desired professional field in future course of time.

throughout their tenure in academic or professional context. In addition to this, it is important for
an individual to carry out a skill analysis. This leads an individual to identify their strengths and
shortcomings. Thus, the shortcomings need to be worked upon so as to ensure task excellence in
the long run. This will assist the individual to carry out learning effectively in academic as well
as professional context. As a result of this, the personnel are able to gain entry into the desire
field and leverage their skills in the most effective manner for the derivation of benefits.
