INTRODUCTION
Business process can be defined as a sequential flow of activities of an organization.
Each organization has various kinds of business processes that can help an organization in
managing their work and performance in an appropriate and effective manner (Mohammadi,
2019). Analysis of these processes using appropriate tools and techniques can help in identifying
scope of improvement that can be brought within a business profess such that overall
performance of organization can be improved. This report will lay emphasis upon development
of business process map, decision making process of selected business process map, and ways in
which digitalization can benefit organization, information management system that can be used
for running business process, database need to be attached to selected management system and
importance of big data for organization, identification of intelligence system that can be used for
business process and implications of this tool. Organization focused upon in this report is a
manufacturing company in automobile industry which Aston Martin and business process
selected is car sales business process.
TASK 1
1.1 Illustration of selected business process in a process map for identifying its main activities
and the sequence of them
Business process map can be defined a powerful technique within business process
management for visually depicting process steps of ways in which a process functions works
from start till end. It is laid visually for every stakeholder within organization so that they can
understand and adhere proper functioning of business process (Hasan and Parkhi, 2020). There
are many different kinds of business processes and each of them works in a different manner
creation of business process map helps in understand flow of task or activities within business.
Business process mapping is like a flow chart that can be used for explain sequential flow of
activities.
In many manufacturing organizations there are various kinds of business processes that
functions in different manner. Aston Martin is one of the leading manufacturing companies that
manufactures luxurious vehicles. Sales of car is one of the main business processes of Aston
Martin which is required to be focused upon by the company. Car sales business process of
Aston Martin have been explained below from start activity to end activity with all other kinds of
choices. This car sales process starts when a customer quality for car sales and then as per the

preference of customers for new car or pre- owned cars quotation for the car is provided to
customer. When type of car to be sold is identified then, maintenance is offered to customers for
additional services and if customer agrees for additional services, then quote given to customer is
upgraded accordingly and lastly as per upgraded quote deal is closed. Below give business
process mapping clearly helps in explaining this car sales business process of Aston Martin in
clear and sequential manner.
Some of the main activities of this car sales process map are:

future flow of activities of the business process. While developing business process flow chart or
mapping then in such case first of all the main type of decisions to be taken are identified. After
identification of decisions, input required to be taken for each decision and output of each
decision is also identified and discussed.
From car sales business process of Austin Martin developed above it has been identified
that there are two main types of decision- making process to be included in this business process:
first is preferences of a new car or pre-owned cars that are available for sales. Second type of
decision making of addition of service. Input of preferences of a new car decision is qualifying
of customers for car sales process and output of this decision depends upon opinion of
customers. If they want to buy a new car then new car available for sales are identified and
displayed and if customer wats to buy a pre-owned car available for sales, then those cars with
their quotations are displayed and showed to customers. Second type of decision if addition of
services whose input is offering maintenance. Only after offering maintenance or additional
services to customers they are eligible for addition of new services. As a result of its output if
customers want to add new services, then quotation provided to them is upgraded and if they do
not want to add new services then directly invoice is generated on the basis of previous quotation
generated and provided to client. Only after these two processes deal is closed.

Due to advancement in technology or increasing digitalization it has become extremely
important for organizations to focus upon digitalizing their main business processes (Torres,
Sidorova and Jones, 2018). Even for manufacturing organizations like Austin Martin need to
focus upon digitalizing their business processes and main activities. Business process selected in
the above task is sales of car. In fact, it is one of the most important business processes of Austin
Martin Austin Martin that helps then in generating revenue. Digitalization of car sales business
process can directly help the organization in enhancing their overall sales and review and can
further help then in enhancing overall satisfaction level of customers in an appropriate manner.
For digitalizing car sales business process of selection of car for sales can be done
digitally. Qualification of customers for buying cars can be digitalized where customers can
select their budget, type of car they want to buy through a digital platform. Austin Martin can
develop their own website or application that can be used by customers for identifying and
reviewing types of vehicles sold by Austin Martin within the base prices. This digital platform
can be used by customers to identify model they want, services they want to add and
approximate quotation of the car selected by them. This digital platform can directly help in
making selection of car much easier manner. This digital transformation can benefit both
organization and customers. It can benefit organization by managing their customers, qualifying
customers who are interested in buying cars digitally. This can further help them in easily
providing quotation for selected cars by the customers without chances of errors and can further
help in reducing time period required for decision making and finalizing of deal. It can benefit
customers as well because they will be able to select cars, get quotation digitally as per their

convenience.

2.1 Identify ways in which information management systems can help running the business
process that has been identified and analysed in task 1
Information or data management system can directly help Austin Martin in running their
car sales process in an appropriate and more effective manner. Adoption of an appropriate
information management system help organization in gathering, analysing and displaying data
related to quotation of all types of cars so that customers can easily select type of car, additional
services they want and get quotation for the same digitally. This will directly help them in
finalizing many car deals digitally and would further reduce need and requirement of additional
man force for finalizing deals. Not only this, it will further help organization to keep a track of
their sales of finalized deals.
There are various kinds of information management system that can be used or adopted
by Austin Martin for effective management of their car sales business process are: sales
management systems and dealer management system. Sales management system whose main
function in Austin Martin will be in management of sales, keeping tracing of sales of finalized
deals that will be converted into final sales. One of the main functions of this information system
is to manage all the information related to sales to be done, done till now or cancelled with
reason which further helps in analysing or evaluating overall sales performance of organization.
This information system will further help in identifying potential customers or forecast potential
customers who can help in enhancing overall sales performance of organization in an appropriate

identified
There are many different kinds of databases that can be used with or adopted by different
kinds of information management system as per its needs and requirements. It is extremely
important to identify type of information management system that can be used for retrieving
required information or data by the customers in an appropriate and accurate manner (Dezi and
et. al., 2018). SQL server database on cloud or Hadoop are one of the best and most appropriate
type of database that can be attacked to both the type of information system that have been
identified above. This database will be used to put all kinds of important information provided by
the client or updated by the company into database so that customers. can get latest quotation of
the selected cars as per updated prices of products and services done by the company within
system recently. This database will be used by the company for storing different types of data or
information within this database such as information of customers, vehicles information,
quotation prices of different vehicles available for sales, quotations finalized by the customers,
sales records etc. there are many other kinds of data or information that will be stored within this
database as per the information management system adopted by Austin Martin such as: financial
data, vehicles services available for customers data etc. will be stored within this database and
can be retrieved by the customers as well as by organizations as per their use. Below given image

products and services provided by them to their customers, sales data, quotation and prices data
etc. these intelligent tools can be used so that any volume or amount of data can be stored easily
without any kinds of issues in an appropriate and much easy manner. Another opportunity for
intelligent tool is evaluating preferences and choices of customers while making decisions of
buying vehicle. Main work within organization for which this opportunity can be focused upon is
for selling cars and vehicles developed or manufactured by them. This analysis of customers
preferences are important because this evaluation can directly help organization in understanding
what type of customers prefer what type of cars and quotations approved by them for finalization
of deals. This opportunity of intelligent tool will directly help organization in identifying changes
that they are required to being within their car sales process to identify things that are required to
be changes within this process, areas of improvement for enhancement of satisfaction level and
loyalty of customers which will eventually help in bringing improvement within overall sales of

business process in an appropriate manner. Not only this it can directly help in providing

choices, likes, dislikes of customers while selecting vehicles for buying or purchasing can help

who can handle and this intelligence tool in an appropriate manner so that all the data can be
