Design thinking or design mindset is
the methodology which is used by the
designers for solving complicated
problems and find a desirable solution
for the clients. This is not a solution
focused rather an action oriented one
towards the creation of preferred
future. Design mindset is particularly
drawn upon imagination, intuition,
logic and systematic reasoning which
create a desired outcome benefiting
the end users.
Design mindset is
described to be a
discipline which uses the
sensibility of the
designers and their
methods to match the
needs of the people. The
designers mainly utilize
the technology to
increase feasibility in one
hand and identify the
most viable business
strategy to convert the
customers values and the
market opportunities.
To Schweitzer et al. (2016), the innovation managers in this
competitive market are defining the key components of design
thinking mindset in their practices and thus implement the design
thinking in their own organizations to create differentiation in both
their products as well as services. In this particular study one can
identify a set of commonly understood as well as applied mindsets in
one hand and reveals some organizational constraints on the
translating cognition into performance.
To Lande (2016), design transforms the people
as well as the stuff they desire to make. This
particular research has discussed the processes
that the technical engineers learn then apply in
their organizations. The design mindset employs
an advance human-centered approach. This
research has identified the catalysts for the
learning of the student in the mechanical
engineering so that they can have the proper
knowledge about the design and grow a
mindset to get engaged in their work practice. In
this aspect ambidextrous mindsets for
innovation has been used as framework to
relate the designedly ways of knowledge.
To Howard, Senova and Melles (2015)
design thinking is continued to be a
developing field in terms of business. In
the method of growing design thinking
capabilities in different types of
organizations have mainly focused on
the development of design skills as well
as tools, rather than understanding the
importance of mindset. This particular
study has articulated the role of design
mindset within the design thinking
capability along with practice. Design
mindset is the viewpoint which informs
the way the person approaches then
interacts in this world.
In the research conducted by Daniel
(2016), reveals that the
entrepreneurship education which has
actually generated a considerable
amount of interest in the recent
decades, have started to utilize the
design method for innovation. This has
largely attributed to the evidence of
positive influence on the small or
medium-sized enterprises in process of
economic growth as well as job creation,
that ultimately leads to the wealth
generation process. The author has
conducted survey among 66
undergraduate students and measured
the result after they came under the
methodology adapted from designing
mindset process. The result shows a
positive influence on the motivation and
satisfaction with performance.
