Developing Effective Learning Skills: A Reflective Essay

This reflective essay discusses the author's experience developing effective learning skills for success at university. INTRODUCTION
Education is very important for every one. It help the person in gaining the knowledge
and enhancing their confidence. Education can improvise personal growth and career. An
educated person can be safe from any kind of crime, war and terrorism. Education help the
individual in getting good paying job and improve his financial status and also create more jobs
for others. Institution across the world operate with flexible studies criteria along with the other
factors also. Institution encourages the diversity of people to get access multicultural study
environment with leading professors. With the help of Driscoll’s model of reflection, I am going
review my experience on developing an effective learning skills and how I developed myself for
upcoming challenges and university expectation for course.
MAIN BODY
The John Driscoll Model of Reflection is a reflection framework which is a structured
procedure to guide reflection. This model work with three question, “What?”, “So what?” and
“Now what?”
Week 1
The purpose of that Webinar session was to identify my learning styles. During the Webinar I
had learnt about the different types of learning methods. A memorable topic I heard during this
session was Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences. The resources I used while this session
was my laptop, my notebook and a pen for writing the queries. All the other people including me
was truly impressed with their short and focused informative inputs. I have acknowledged
different types of learning styles which can enhance my learning . I have improved my auditory
learning skills and social learning skills which will help me in my future life also. I have
discovered that I am good at linguistic verbal and logical Mathematical. I need to improvise
myself in interpersonal intelligences and Visual-spatial intelligences. In context to Bucks
Graduate Attributes I think I have improved myself in self development and creativity. During
the session I was feeling delighted about learning and after the session I was feeling confident
and motivated. I have discovered that the offered courses want the student with high grasping
power and clear basic concepts. For an effective student I have to enhance my social learning
ability and auditory learning for this I will try to understand the pre recorded lecture and will go
group studies. I will first focus on my social learning ability. The students group will support me

developing my learning ability in group and when I developed this ability its reflects me as an
effective student.
Week 2
In week second my purpose is to develop my skills like communication and knowledge
effectively. For devfeloping my skills and knowledge effectively I attend various seminars,
studied lots of cources and also started to take part in various events. Due to taking part in
various events I effectively developed my communication skill. Due to receiving set of
knowledge I also understand that in which manner comunication works in various task. With
help of effective communication I present my meaningful thoughts and views effectively in front
of audience without any type of hesitation.
Week 3
In this week my aim is to develop the knowledge of financing and budgeting because
with help of this knowledge I am able develop my professional career effectively. With help of
financing and budgeting I am able to maintain day to day budget. Financing is basically a broad
term that describes activities which is related with banking, investment, credit capital market and
others. With help this knowledge I easily mange the cashflow in my professional life. It also
assist me to improve my analytical skills at higher rate.
Week 4
In this week I gained the knowledge of corporate social responsibility and it basically a
concept which is used by individual for doing the work in systematic and right way. With this
knowledge I realized that doing work in right way is highly essential for sustaining the popularity
of particular person and institute. According to this concept as a student I required to always take
right deciosion in my life for securing the career effectively. Due to the effective analysis of this
course I effective understand that taking right decision is highly important for reducing risk in
both professional and personal at maximum level.
Week 5
In this week I achieved the knowledge about management accounting and their functions
which is highly important for all types of institute and organizations. With help of management
accounting I understand that in which way organization reduce the expense in their machines and
activites. Management accounting are highly essential for every individual maintaing balance in
financial sitguation for long time. Management accounting is the sourcing, analysis,

communication and use of decision-relevant financial and non-financial information to generate
and preserve value for organisations. It is the process of identifying, measuring and
communicating economic information to permit informed judgements and decisions by users of
the information. Due to this I easily get the idea that in which way financial accouts or records
are prepared.

CONCLUSION
After the analysis of above information it concludes that study of various field are highly
important for students for securing their career. It also assist the students to enhance their career
growth in right direction for long time. Education help the individual in getting good paying job
and improve his financial status and also create more jobs for others. Institution across the world
operate with flexible studies criteria along with the other factors also. Due to getting reputated
job they are able to servive their life in decent manner for long time.
