INTRODUCTION
Developing global management means development of a business in context of
managerial activities to wider level. As world is shrinking the leaders has to manage employees
and cultural differences at global level. Through developing talent and by global thinking one
can ascertain these challenges.
The present report will explain that how self awareness and continuous development is
essential for the growth perspective of a leader and manager. Furthermore, Strength and
weaknesses is analyzed that will be done to identify own strength and weaknesses in order to
become successful manager in the near future. Moreover, two separate incidents will reflect the
findings from self analysis toolkits. Lastly recommendation and conclusion is given.
MAIN BODY
Ques 1. Explain the importance of self Awareness, self development and correlation of both for
effective manager in the future.
Self Awareness
As per the view point of Grant (2018), it is stated that, “It is an ability to analysis own
actions and emotions”. It keeps us grounded and focused. It also involves how one person reacts
to another. It is a key element of emotional intelligence. Being a leader if I will stay focused I
will be able to deliberate tasks efficiently. Self awareness encourages a leader to develop own
skills. If someone is lacking at any point or has some drawbacks then through this they can
identify them. Once the point has identified than some, measures has to be taken to correct them.
Self realization is a key to success Spies (2016). Through, mapping out inner self a leader can
lead a firm towards the profitability. To analysis self issues and huddles is a willingness that
comes from within. One must accept the truth if he or she has fails in a particular job or task
which is assign to them.
Importance of self awareness as a leader

According to Kisubi (2018), it has been said that, “Self awareness keeps a person
grounded and helps to become more focused.” I also have to practice self discipline because it is
one of the character traits of good leader. While handling feedback of client self awareness is
important. For example, if I reply negative to any of the client I can lost my customers. Hence
being present in a moment is a first step of self awareness. While giving presentation to my
teammates, self awareness plays major role. For example, if one becomes nervous while giving
presentation to the team members this shows lack of self awareness in that person Human and
Ungerer (2016). Emotional intelligence also comes with self awareness. Being a leader I will
become more adaptable through creating self awareness. It will also boost up my self confidence.
Continuous Self Development
It refers to a stage where individual’s starts thinking about increasing their self understanding
and knowledge, self development is not a onetime process instead it is a continuous process. My
leadership style is autocratic which enables decision making power only to me. If one wants to
improve its leadership so he has to be a positive attitude holder and must have an attitude of win
Tanaka, Sasaki & Ono (2018). There are some important points which can make anyone a good
leader that is A leader must be proactive, always doing hard work, must be having a good
communication skill, must hear words of its subordinates and many other attributes.
Correlation of them in future position
Self awareness and self development is necessary from the view point of my future
position. I can strengthen up my abilities to vulnerable as I know what my flaws are. Being a
leader it will help me to grow more and once the ability of controlling emotions remains in my
hands. It also helps to guide the people who are around me (Self Awareness and the Effective
Leader, 2019). As per the view point of Robinson & Aldana (2020), it is stated that mastering the
skill of self awareness not only helps to become an effective leader but also helps to set examples
for the team members. . The major proportion of problem in ever business is of communication
but ever business give a chance to overcome this problem and I was also given but I regretted to
capture that opportunity and this all at end stood as an obstacle in the way of my success.
My leadership style is autocratic which is not good and because of this reason it needs to be
changed to either democratic or laissez-faire. I didn't encourage my subordinates to work with

coordination which is an obstacle on the way of becoming a good leader and it must be removed
because coordination is the first step towards growth as a good leader. Also cultural
diversification is a big problem in my team as there is no standard language to communicate and
there is always conflicts and chaos between my teammates due lack of understanding.
According to Cheon (2019), it has been said that, “Cultural diversification becomes necessary
when there are a wide variety of differences between the teammates such as language,
technology, cultural, etc. The solution of all these is other styles of leadership, as per my
experience the best style of leadership is democratic style which enables the teammates to give
their reviews during decision making. Also there can be laissez-faire style but it is too risky to
give decision making power to underdeveloped teammates. It requires good team spirit, hard
work, patience and besides all these a good manger is one who is also good leader. Becoming a
manger is not difficult but becoming a good manager is difficult because it requires all
personality traits of good leader Elegbe, (2016). If I will become a manger so patience, hard
work and team spirit are the essential components of my personality traits.
According to Wehrmeyer & Mulugetta, (Eds.). (2017), it has been said that, “To become
an effective manager one may require self reflection, growth and observation. A good manger
never stops grooming himself, after becoming a manger from leader there are still many hidden
weakness inside the manger. There must lies some trustfulness with other, this trait of a good
leader opens the door of growth, as other people can help to find your weakness so early and you
can correct them quickly. The opportunity of becoming a future manager never comes it has to
be created with a lot of patience and hard work. Opportunities never lie in pocket; they lie in
hard work and team work Spencer & Gabites (2020). Also many times opportunity comes from
anywhere; it can be family, friends, teammates, etc. If you’re doing a business threats are the key
factors of insolvency, the external and even internal environment is full of threats which can
hamper your growth.

Summary of critical incident: explain how the critical incident arose and why it is

Description - I was working in a company named Riya food as an employee. This was the
incident when I was attending training sessions and seminars of my manager. One day I have
missed one of my seminars as I have arrived late. Not only had this but I also left my important
business file at home. On that day an important meeting should be held in the company campus.
My manager scolded me in front of everyone out there. I was feeling ashamed in front of all my
colleagues and teammates. An important deal has to be happened on that day with a business
partner and because of my mistake that big deal had been cancelled. I have observed that one of
mistake is time management. This major mistake of my life helps me a lot to grow and to
become best person of my life. This has transformed my life and as if now I have become a
leader in a reputed firm. In this firm I guide lots of people. Thus, this critical incident has a
significant for my learning and overall development.
How does your behaviour (thinking, feelings and actions) in this critical incident reflect the
findings of your chosen self-analysis toolkit? How has the toolkit enabled you to
understand why you think, feel and behave in the way that you do? What have you
learned about yourself that you didn’t know before?
Feelings: I have felt very bad as I have been scolded by my senior manager. I felt embarrassed in
front of everyone. I also felt guilt that because of me an important deal has been cancelled. I was
felt sorry for my mistakes.
Evaluation: I evaluate that time management was my mistake. I had regretted a lot that day
because of me this chance of company profit get lost. But I had also decided that I will overcome
my mistake. I will learn how to manage my time, this was my spirit.
Analysis: I have analyzed that my major weakness is time management and this can be a threat
for my future success. I got late on that day because I doesn’t wake up early and doesn’t set
reminder of the meeting which is to be happened next day.
Conclusion: If I set my tasks and work a day prior then I might not get late on that day. Hence, I
have decided to learn time management.
Action Plan: I need to check how I spend my time. Also I have to set a time to complete my
tasks. For managerial activities I have used software tools that make my work easier and even

get completed in very less time. To-Do list would be great idea. Prioritising my work and
planning o ne day earlier could be helpful.
Identify how you will use this learning in the future to become an effective leader, manager
or team-worker
This critical incident changes my life positively. Being an effective leader I will delegate
responsibility to my employees on timely basis. I will schedule their work and then I assign them
so there will be less chance of chaos and confusion among team members. Through doing tasks
before the deadline company’s profitability get increased. Prioritizing work will helpful as a
future manager because important tasks get finished on early basis and company has not faced
any losses.

I was just being transferred to the production section of our company. In initial days of my
transfer there was no such work load and time limit, also the work was assigned by my known
manger and there was no such problem which becomes a cause of damaging my reputation. The
work was going as always and this continued for three to four months, but after four months the
biggest problem of my life starts arising, our manger was transferred to another section due lack
of human resource and we were putted under a new manager. The new manager was a west
Indian and talks only in his own mother tongue and unfortunately I was unable to understand his
mother tongue but most of my teammates were also west Indian. This problem hits me like a
failure in my success because I was delayed in all my assignment and I was on the mercy to be
throw out of the group. But I tried and kept doing what I was doing before and as a result I was
removed from the group by my boss and my career was reached to end but somehow I changed
my mind the whole thing was just settled all right and was being back to my normal routine.

This incident just changed my entire life, now I was not rood as always and started working in a
new way which was like made for me. When all this happened I was thinking about the mistake
of my boss that they putted me under a manager whose trait were not like me. Then when I
analyzed myself then I came to know that I the mistake was done by me that I never tried to learn
our business language that was also western. This incident firstly hits me so deeply and I just
think to end my career but what a strong force forced me and saved my career that was my
internal soul that forced me to learn other languages because in business we need to learn
numerous languages to handle different clients. This situation forced me to think about what if I
had learned some other languages when I was getting a chance to do so, I started blaming myself
about the fact that I regretted to learn other languages.

or team-worker
This incident changed my mind and attitude, this problem told me about my weakness and
strength's which can be helpful to me in future. Knowing exactly you have to do in situation like
this can help you to rise to heights. The value of coming opportunities I learned from this
incident and also this all helped me to know to myself deeply. And to be a effective leader one
must know how to handle with these life changing moments and also there should be a deep self
understanding and self knowledge. This incident aroused patriotic feeling in me and made me a
strong soul to handle this situation if they may have arisen again. Also this incident given me
lesson that no one can understand yourself other than you. I wished that this may not happen
again and may not be in these situations again, although if it happens again so firstly I try that it
will not happen and even if it happens then also I will not lose my confidence and hope to
resolve it because if I want to be a good leader afterwards then I must carry these traits with me -
patience, hard work, positive attitude, calmness, respect for others and good communication
skills etc.
Emotional intelligence
It refers to changing self defeated mood and attitude towards the routine work of self
development, it includes quickly managing stress and anxiety, feeling hopeful and connective

with others and following your own dreams. This is a broader term which not only includes
emotional attitude but also psychological awareness.
Belbin report
Belbin is a comprehensive report which includes integral efforts to create an effective
insight and also is applied for management. It includes understanding and utilizing the internal
talent and natural behavior of one who does not responds to his own self feelings or in an
negative aspect. Belbin report is just to correct the situation.
Ques 3 Emphasis on strength and weaknesses with highlighting on development area
It helps to better understand an individual. Under this I will outline my own strengths and
weaknesses. This will helps me to improve my own areas as a leader. I will also provide possible
opportunities in context to my leadership skills.
Strength
After scoring high ranks in both the styles of leadership and also good in relationship it
directly shows that I have strengthen my leadership in both the fields of relationship orientation
and task. By scoring high in the above task, it defines that I have a good communication skill and
working capacity by which I can help my other teammates and subordinates. With the help of the
above discussion and by scoring moderately high in the field of relationship indicates that I had a
trait of making people feel comfortable and coordinated. These traits provides me the way to
become a future manager, also it indicates that i am good leader. It can be said that my
democratic style of leadership is the best one and the one which I required to groom and improve
my perfection Yamada (2018). By improving weakness there is an opportunity that I will
become a good manager in near future. I have observed that I used autocratic leadership style.
Hence, I should change my leadership style in order to become a good leader. Democratic
leadership style is the best as it gives freedom to the employees to share their own ideas and also
involves them in decision making process. Thus, if I use democratic leadership style I will be
able to know what the problems of my teammates are facing.

With the above two different cases I have scored myself to the lowest on the scale of
conceptual. It is a useful leadership skill for the upper and middle of management. It is ability to
work with an idea and concepts. One of my weaknesses is that I am unable to do time
management. Thus, I need to prioritize my work in order to complete all the tasks on time. I am
dependable as well. How can be someone is a good leader if he or she is dependable. Thus, to be
good leader one should practice to become independent. The group members are dependent on
leaders Mlcek & Bell, (2018). Also with the help of above discussion I analyzed that I am not
well good in using correct leadership style to control my team members. Cultural difference also
plays vital role in leadership style. Thus, one of my problems is communication skills. While
conducing global business this plays major role. Being collectivist leader I will be able to help
my community. My teammates have the problem of language barriers as they belong to different
communities. The communication problem that I was facing had been occurred only because of
me. Also in the entire life one cannot blame other for certain problem that they had faced. Hence
I need to host language classes in which one common language will be teach to all of them. Due
to my current work load and challenges i must have to find some time which i can invest to
groom my leadership. If I want to become an effective leader then i must have to develop myself
in this field or all my hard work will be wasted. With increase time shortness i will not let go
depending upon these other people to teach me how to improve my leadership besides i have to
work by own to groom my leadership. I cannot depend on other for seeking opportunities for
grooming my leadership but I have to create that workspace where I can work in myself to be an
effective and efficient leader.

CONCLUSION
It has been concluded from above project report that self awareness refers to analyzing
self negative and positive points. This triggers self assessment of an individual. To take a deeper
look of how something is going in a certain way one must take a look of own feelings. It has also
been summarized continuous self development never ends it began with small error and keep
going till lifetime. To be a future manager numerous things are essential which grooms one's
personality to be good future manager. It has been summarized that incidents happened to
change our lives in positive manner. It has been concluded that time management and
communication was my major weakness but by correcting them I am able to guide and mentor
my teammates. Thus, through overcoming them I have become a successful manager.
