As far as am concerned, building the company website in-house is the strategy I will
adopt as the head of information technology in my business. The in-house plan comes with more
advantages than disadvantages. First, In-house building saves on the company cost. By using the
staff, human labor is cheap as compared to outsourcing labor. In many instances hiring experts
the services of experts is expensive. This is because of the cost associated with procurement and
logistic hiring the experts is high. Using the staff means saving of additional resources which
would have otherwise been wasted.
Besides, in-house building enables the website to suit the needs of the company. There
would be in-depth and proper consultation with the stakeholders. Therefore, relevant
stakeholders will share opinions, criticize, and contribute towards the process of building the site.
Ultimately, each member will feel involved, and the gathering of ideas in different phases of
development ensure no gap for mistakes. Moreover, the needs and specifications of the website
will be addressed. Therefore, the quality of the site is likely to be superb. Wallace et al (2004)
says, involving all system stakeholders has a long term impact on the quality of
software/website.
Maintenance and modification of the website will be instant because the developers are
readily available whenever there is a system breakdown or technical issue. According to Tu
(2000), maintenance is cheap when using the software is built in-house. Also, all the members of
the company are likely to accept the outlook of the company website. The system users shall be
aware it is their colleagues who have developed the website hence interacting with the site won`t
hijack their minds.

Considering the points mentioned above, if the company has the capability and capacity
to utilize their staff member to undertake the task, it is a better option. The disadvantages of in-
house development equal to none.
