2677 Pukekohe East
Dear Mr. Cooper,
This work term report deals with the report discussing the issues in managing the E-
commerce of CASA Management system. In this report, it will be good to understand the issues
that make many of the E-commerce systems not be a success. The letter has discussed on the
implementation plan and the effects of the mobile web presence.
This discussion has been based on the E-commerce security environment as well as the
challenges that this online retailer face when compared to the offline retailer businesses. The
report has given a conclusion on what has been discussed and any recommendations if there are
any in all aspects. In this situation, if one like the usability of the discussed terminologies, there
is a need to have better execution of the business management.
Yours truly

Executive Summary
The report discussion has based on E-commerce implementation and how it has been
approached in all aspects. In this concept, the basic idea majored in four sections as explained
below. The first section that has been discussed is how CASA E-commerce can use the SDLC in
implementation of its E-commerce website. This section has explained the various stages to be
followed to make the implementation procedure a success. Some of the phases that will need to
be followed in making the SDLC of CASA E-commerce are such as the Analysis, design,
development, and maintenance. The websites of CASA E-Commerce will not only major it’s
usage only on PCs browsers but it will also be developed in a manner that it can be applied in the
mobile web presence. In making this achievable, the design and development will use the latest
integrating programming languages which will allow the web browsers to be detected and the
website navigates or opens with regards to the browser specifications.
Ideally, working online, CASA E-commerce will be prone to security issues in the online
environment and thus there is a need to propose the use of SSL and Captcha as the security
environments. Lastly, the report has discussed the challenges the CASA E-commerce will not
consider when compared with other retailers working offline and how such challenges affect the
loyalty of their customers. Customer loyalty and trust is what drives the business to its success
and thus when that is bridged, then the business will be hanging and thus a lot of losses may be
incurred.

Introduction
CASA (Customization Accommodation by the Sea) is a New Zealand based organization
that offers provisions of services to all the people as they seek places to enjoy their holidays near
the ocean shores and beaches. This report will discuss more on the implementation plan on the
use of the Software development lifecycle as a methodology that is applied in the given concept.
Also, the report will discuss how the use of mobile and smartphones have disrupted the
E-commerce landscape. In addition, the report will explain more about the security environment
of CASA E-commerce. The system will also discuss the challenges that may be faced by online
E-commerce retailers such as CASA when compared to that business that does Offline retailer
businesses. Ideally, after the discussion, the report is supposed to be concluded by explaining all
that has been captured and thus giving recommendations if there is any.
Implementation Plan
In any business, there exist several objectives that business aims at achieving all the time
no matter the cost or the situation they find themselves in. ideally, in understanding the
implementation plan of any business, one has to know well how the objectives of the businesses
align with the procedure or business processes (Bassil, 2012). The core business processes
dictate the methodology to be taken. In this of digital enterprise and E-commerce, since it is a
phase to phase strategy, the best methodology to apply is the Software development Life cycle.
SDLC is the best-suited methodology for CASA E-commerce as it may help one to understand
the objectives of the business of any information systems and thus helping one to design an

appropriate prototype that will become functional after completion to be called information
systems.
Notably, by use of an E-commerce of CASA, there are several major steps which must be
followed in all ways no matter what. Programming improvement Life Cycle is a deliberate
philosophy for application improvement or structure headway (Kaur, 2013). SDLC is the route
toward structuring of the system that results in a shocking, adroit, inside time and capable
application that is humble to keep up, easy to improve and that can work sufficiently. It is
basically isolated in different stages and along these lines, each stage is contained different
strides as clarified with respects to the systems to being developed.

Feasibility study
This is the first phase, where the desired of CASA E-commerce is examined and
determined to make the proposed E-commerce software to be actually achievable or even
feasible. In any Successful E-commerce website on the internet, there must exist a successful
formula for the projects on the internet. Ideally, for one to understand the application of the
digital platforms used for such training and marketing.
In the feasibility study and plan, one has to appoint the team for the webmaster which
may include two or three individuals. Some of the objectives of the CASA E-commerce are such
as and portal to be developed. Ideally, some of the objectives are such as the web pages like the
Home, Services offered, Renting and Buying, Talk to us! Among others in all aspects.
Analysis
In this stage, careful framework necessities are assembled by IT authorities, breaking
down of the prerequisite is highly embraced. In this stage, the project will have to define the
audience. In the first assignment, there was mentioning of the business models that will be used
in this CASA E-commerce. Online shopping can be integrated using different models based on
the type of E-shopping applied. Some of the models that need to be analyzed on how they will be
designed are such as the Business to the business model (B2B) where there exist the business
visitors.
Also, the other one is the B2C which is the Business to Consumer business model where
there are consumer visitors as the audience (Buse, 2012). The idea for doing the analysis is to
understand the E-commerce analysis in general.

Design.
In this stage, the framework model is structured like graphical UI and database. In the
CASA E-commerce website, one can design the navigation view by starting with the Home Page
and the first level is by designing the CASA homepage. The system will require a backend and
thus a database that stores the consumer and customer information when they request for any
products or services from the site. It is good to design the way the payment gateway has been
integrated into the E-commerce system.
Development
In this stage, the plan is executed into a physical framework by structuring the database
and projects. In this stage, one has to develop one option way of developing the website. In this
case, one can prepare the E-commerce website by writing codes in HTML, JAVA or in ASP.
One can also Do-it-yourself where there exist different packages such as MS FrontPage in
developing a good website which is usually a good approach for them who have no knowledge
of detailed programming. Other packages are such as WordPress, Joomla, and Wiz among
others.
Testing
In the test phase, thorough testing is done on the implemented system. The CASA E-
commerce website has to be tested before it is deployed to be used by customers. In the testing
phase, the programmer can look for the broken links and speed of the pages especially those with
slow pages maybe because of graphics in them. In addition, if there exists any payment
Document Page
DIGITAL ENTERPRISE AND CASA E-COMMERCE 9
transaction, then it is good to test the transaction if they function to avoid malfunction
immediately the system has been deployed.
Deployment and Maintenance.
This is the last phase in SDLC, it only happens if the testing gives positive results and if
there are any errors they have been eliminated in all ways. Understanding this phase, one needs
to know that the actual system is being put into the application and it is being used by the
customers. This CASA E-commerce must be checked regularly so that errors or failures can be
avoided by updating it up to date. Another thing that needs to be done is performing the SEO.
Lastly, in terms of update, the system should help in updating the keywords and Meta tag as per
the changes in the needs and objectives of the business.
Mobile Web Presence
In the current era, the use of mobile and smartphones have disrupted the concept of
personal computing and the E-commerce business in all aspects. Smartphones have become so
popular and since technology has evolved rapidly, they have become so useful when it comes to
accessing the websites. Ideally, with regards to this, it is good when one is developing an E-
commerce website like this of CASA to consider the various factors of mobile platforms in the
design and entrance to the online business. In this category, the following are some of the factors
that CASA E-commerce will need to consider before they go online with mobile platforms.
CASA major objectives are to help consumers or customers be able to book accommodations
online without having problems.
Document Page
DIGITAL ENTERPRISE AND CASA E-COMMERCE 10
The strategy of the business differs with the type of project one is working on. In this
case, it is an accommodation site and with no mistake, one will need to have some kind of
strategies on how the website functions in the mobile space (Andre-Becker, 2013). There exist
various factors that need to be addressed in the CASA E-commerce before it is applied in the
mobile platforms.
1. It is good to define the need for the mobile site.
Ideally, in all circumstances, the mobile CASA website design of E-commerce will come
about with the following circumstances. This is a new E-commerce website that will need both
strategies that are the desktop and the mobile (Carr, Lathia and Chuang, 2015). In understanding
this, most of these circumstances will bring the requirements and thus helping them to determine
the best ways that can be considered.
2. Consideration of the CASA objectives.
In the case of the CASA E-commerce Website, the idea will be based on the desktop
browser. The first thing in the CASA E-commerce website that can be seen is the bedrooms with
large space that shows clearly that they are dealing with rooms and accommodation in the
organization. Since they are located near the sea, and as the name suggest, they have very nice
views on the beaches with very good preparations. As seen in the figure below, one can see that
there is robust navigation, a lot of callouts which benefits on owning the CASA Business
Management, the site search and the links in social media.

If the above website is loaded on the mobile phone browser, this website will be stripped
down with the latest version of the website. In this case, as seen in the diagram below it is good
to know the complex navigation cannot be seen and other major callouts in the mobile version.
The browser will focus on the mobile site and the objectives which are primary thus evoking the
emotional connection with the rooms through the bold imagery.

3. It’s good for one to study past data before moving forward.
Ideally, since this project is a redesign or maybe an addition to the mobile site of the
existing CASA Website, the site is expected to have to track traffic with google analytics. One is
supposed to analyze the devices and the browsers for the users who may be accessing the site.
4. Practice the Responsive Web Design.
The days that we used to test the few web browsers in existence are no more, this is
because one will only need to optimize the site in to a vast landscape for the desktop as well as
those of mobile web browsers where each is supposed to bring various screen resolution,
technologies supported and the user interface (Mohorovičić, 2013). Responsive web design will
highly be recommended in this concept. In understanding this, it is good for one to apply the
latest web technologies such as the HTML5, CSS3 and the latest web Fonts.
5. Understand that simplicity is Golden, but…
This is a general factor where there is the conversion of the desktop website into a mobile
format. In this case, one can simplify things wherever possible. There exist various reasons for
this such as to keep the size of the file and the load times down which is recommended as a very
good idea for the mobile platforms.

E-commerce Security Environments
CASA E-commerce will be operating on the online platforms and thus it will be
subjected to threats that may be imposed on the consumers as well as the owners of the business
in all aspects. Some of the wide security threats that CASA E-commerce may be subject to are
such as phishing, malicious code, hacking, cyber vandalism, data breaches and identity theft
(Coventry, Briggs and Moorsel, 2014). Some of these achievements are such as SSL and
Captcha.
SSL
The utilization of web-based business has been related to a ton of wariness and fear
because of certain wrongdoings related to web-based business and explicitly payment
frameworks. The secure socket layer (SSL) convention is confided in such manner to verify
exchanges for delicate applications like internet business. Sadly, the utilization of SSL
convention causes moderate reaction time on the server which is a noteworthy reason for
dissatisfaction for online customers.
Secure Socket Layers is the most common form of communication that can be said to be
a secure channel in all aspects, especially where the transaction of money is somehow done
online (Kant, 2012). Notably, the case of CASA is having its consumers or customers booking
for accommodations online and thus they make an online payment and thus in that environment
are prone to hack thus there in need for SSL which will improve the security of the E-commerce
environment. In this concept, the SSL will be applied in making an establishment with the
session which is negotiated in a secure environment (this is the sessions in the client-server in
which the URL with regards to the requested document, along with the needed documents are

encrypted. There exist other alternatives that work hand in hand with SSL such as the S-HTTP
and VPN.
Virtual Private network is the method that allows all the remote users in securely
accessing the network internally via or across the internet by use of a point-to-point (PTTP)
(Ashley, 2014). In the case, if the S-HTTP, this acts as an alternative method for SSL because it
offers the provision of secure message-oriented communication protocols which are usually
designed for the use with conjunction with the available HTTP. The figure below how the
sessions in CASA E-commerce can be secured and thus improving the security environment.
Figure 4 Secure Negotiated Sessions Using SSL
Document Page
DIGITAL ENTERPRISE AND CASA E-COMMERCE 16
Captcha
There is a large number who knows about Web locales that constrain one from
recognizing the unconventional, distorted letters in jumbled pictures and enter them into a
content box. In this case, there exist some several standard tasks such as enrolling with the
current world Web administrations is the exhibit that one is human and not accursed PC
programs set on causing wickedness. Captchas are significant and broadly utilized in the current
Internet innovation (ElAhmad, 2012). They diminish the capacity of robotized operators to
automatically abuse Web-based assets, for example, online email accounts, online surveys, and
Web-based remark frameworks.
Ideally, fashioners of noxious robotized operators have appeared at be truly equipped for
beating the muddling present inside captchas, regularly consolidating straightforward heuristics
with beast power assaults. This introduces an issue for significant Web locales depending upon
captchas, as scientists who effectively break a captcha framework may in a roundabout way help
malevolent clients. On a basic level, inquire about aides industry– based captcha framework
engineers to create hearty and advantageous captchas. Practically speaking, the deferral between
captcha frameworks being survived and after that supplanted by a more up to date and
progressively fruitful captcha method permits pernicious clients a brilliant chance to manhandle
Web-based assets.

Challenges on Online Retail Business
According to the recent studies, E-commerce spending has risen to over 2 trillion dollars
in the past few decades and thus it is expected to rise to more than 5 trillion dollars (Chandra,
2017). Ideally, the rapid growth has promised a great future globally in the E-commerce industry
that has signified a strong market and thus increasing the demands made by the customers.
Ideally, in spite of all these growth trends, many E-commerce businesses in existence may fail to
succeed within the first year (Shackleton, 2016). In this case of CASA E-commerce, it will be
good to analyze some of the operational challenges they may be expected to face when compared
to offline retailers. The following are some of the operational challenges expected to be faced by
CASA E-commerce.
The traditional and offline retailers have clearly dimmed and blurred as online retailers
have expanded and extended to new geographies (Howland, 2019). This has left many
companies in dealing with the government regulations, the status of the geography which may
have some stateless income. The competition is very high when compared to local retailers.
Document Page
DIGITAL ENTERPRISE AND CASA E-COMMERCE 18
Ideally, for the Case of CASA E-commerce, since the competition has gone locally as well as
globally, it may be very hard for them to find the right balance.
Building Trust and the brand may be termed as one of the key differentiators. Ideally,
building customer trust and brand loyalty are very significant in any business success.
Traditional or offline retailers are able to build trust with their customers due to face to face
communications unlike in the E-commerce which in most cases is considered irrelevant. In the
case of CASA E-Commerce, it will be easy to lose a customer and thus considered as the next
big thing. Practically if the CASA E-commerce posts that they do horse riding in the Overseas
and that is included in the charges when one is making the payment online payment but when he
goes to CASA there are no such horse riding then the customer will feel failed and thus going to
the next step of criticizing the services offered. The customer will never look for services from
CASA management again.
There are various data management frameworks e.g. - Point of Sale, ERP, & CRM
frameworks. These frameworks vary immensely in their engineering, arrangement, and
utilization; generally based on dated innovation and are inclined to stagnation. I don't get this'
meaning for organizations? - A lot of your assets (cost, time, work) is being spent on isolated
frameworks, meddling with inner business requests and diverting the concentration from the
center assignments. Ideally, if the CASA E-commerce system has a disparate system, then it will
be expected to have a poor experience. In this concept, if the CASA E-commerce has separate
systems, there will be a great deal of resources usage such as cost, labor and time which in turn
will interfere with their internal business demands and thus distracting the focus that has been
put on major tasks.
Document Page
DIGITAL ENTERPRISE AND CASA E-COMMERCE 19
Conclusions
From the above report, it can be stated that for this E-commerce of CASA that there are a
lot of things that need to be done for the website before it is made online for the people. The
report has discussed the implementation plan. Research methodology uses the Software
development life cycle which makes the development of the website to be easy and cover up
everything. Secondly is the discussion of the mobile web presence. Many people have been
using smartphones as the tool for browsing and thus they need a web presence that can be used in
making the website accessible on mobile platforms. The third is discussing the environment
security that should be enhanced by CASA E-commerce. The two secured channels are such as
SSL and Captcha respectively. Also, in conclusion, CASA E-commerce will have to consider the
operational challenges that they may face before they go online when compared to offline
retailers.
Recommendations
The following are some of the recommendations that should be considered in all aspects:
the CASA E-commerce will need to use some secured channel to avoid the phishing,
hackers and the attackers attacking the E-commerce system. Understanding this well,
there will need to use VPNs, SSL, and Captcha to avoid such unethical attacks in the
future.
The system should be created dynamically in a manner that it will allow for future
extensions and thus making them easy to meet the Business core processes.
