1.0 INTRODUCTION
Covid-19 Pandemic has brought various kinds of sudden changes within society and has
impacted activities and operations of various organizations (Flyverbom and et. al., 2016). It has
forced organizations to focus upon increasing their digital presence, provide their products and
services digitally in order to avoid physical touch and to reduce spreading of Coronavirus. This
assignment will lay emphasis upon Age UK which is charitable organization and will discuss
challenges faced by them in providing service to older people, barriers faced by them, effective
digital medium that can be adopted by them, local service suitable for digital delivery of service
and recommendations to overcome those challenges.
Background
Age UK is a registered charitable organization in UK that was formed on 25th February,
2009. They support the health and wellbeing of older people living in the city. They have
combined their operations with other charity organizations like Age concern England, and Help
the Aged in order to become UK’s largest charitable organization for older people. But due to
current Pandemic situation of Covid-19, most of their services have got suspended and they are
facing challengers in providing their service to older people and in reaching them.
2.0 RESULTS
2.1 Challenges faced by Age UK
Age UK provide their service to aged people who are above 60 years of age. As per
recent statistics it has been observed that Before pandemic more than 79 percent of older people
who were above 65 years of age did not use digital technology or platform. Due to this most of
the older people above 65 years of age felt isolated and were facing difficulties in accessing
required services for organizations like Age UK (Age UK Digital Inclusion Evidence Review,
2018). Due to this Age UK is facing difficulty because maximum number of older people do not
use digital technology. But however it has been observed that after Covid-19 crises more than 38
precent of older people have started using digital technology. Another challenge faced by Age
UK is delivery of digital service because provision of physical service in Covid-19 pandemic has
been suspended so as a result they need to focus upon digital transformation but for they need to
overcome challenge of making digital technology accessible, develop required skills within older
people so that they can use digital technology.
2.2 Most effective digital medium to reach their target audience
