Describe two jobs that you are like to be in?
I aspire to become a doctor and the next alternative job role that my qualification permits is
to become a pharmacist. The role of a specialist doctor is to serve the population by
addressing their health care needs by investigating their health related issues and ensuring
the wellbeing of the patient by applying proper treatment regimen. They are alone among
the health care professionals who are capable of taking the ultimate accountability for the
difficult decisions in situations of medical complexities and uncertainty by drawing on their
own scientific knowledge and a well-developed clinical reasoning (Wynn, 2015).
A pharmacist can be referred to as the health care professional who are responsible
for recommending proper medicines to the patients and advising the most secured way for
taking the medications, preparing medications by the review and the interpretation of the
doctor’s order. They are responsible for dispensing the medications by compounding,
packaging and labelling the pharmaceuticals. A pharmacist has to work in a varied range of
settings such as hospitals, clinics and in retail pharmacy stores (pharmacist Dictionary, 2018)

the patient history and determine the clinical priorities of the concerned patient. History
taking and patient assessment helps the specialists to develop the treatment goals and

2018). However, some of the major roles that a pharmacist has to perform is
communicating with the patients, consulting the doctors and raising flags against any

Potential doctors and pharmacist is required for a wide range of sectors like the
medicinal service industries, including both the government and the private

employment opportunities in different sectors of health care. Marie Stopes Australia is a
national family planning organization that has recently posted a job requirement for a
doctor in the reproductive care sector (indeed, 2018).
The eligibility criteria to become a doctor is get a bachelor of medicine degree. The
course is of four years. A bachelor of surgery from a recognized university is also needed to
become a successful doctor. In order to become a pharmacist there are some particular
choice of subjects that that has to be learned in standard in the 12th standard. For example,

chemistry has to be the compulsory choice of subject for studying pharmacy in the
university level. Again, a four-year degree of the bachelor of pharmacist followed by a

What are the challenges and essential criteria of the roles?
The profession of a doctor is quite challenging as the profession requires life long learning .
Doctors have several obligations as they are accountable for a person’s safety and wellbeing
in an indirect way. Furthermore, the great volume of tasks and responsibilities often causes
burnout in the doctors. Some of the essential elements required in this profession are insiht,
empathy, adaptability and respectability (Ahmad Kfraoy, physician, Coburg Family Medical
Centre, interviewed 1.9, 2018).
The role of a pharmacist often becomes quite challenging as they often have to play
a part of the role of a doctor, such as suggesting them with the medicines, the appropriate
doses or the related contraindications of the medicines. A pharmacist often have to consult
the patients in least favourable situations. Some of the essential elements for a pharmacist
are substantial knowledge about medications, their doses and their adverse effects, ability
to manage the orders and proper dispensing of the medications, billing and more (khalid,
Pharmacist, summer hill Pharmacy Interview, 3.9. 2018).

I believe that I possess the required qualification and qualities that are required to become a
doctor or a pharmacist. Care, empathy, abiding by the guidelines and keeping the patient’s
interest as the priority are the additional elements that are required to become a successful
healthcare professional. Apart from the necessary qualification, I am bestowed with the
principles of ethics that would help me to perform my job roles appropriately. My primary
goal is to ensure a safe care to the unwell.

Describe the skills and specialist training that involved to achieve the career of
Doctor/Pharmacist?
According to Doctor Ahmad, doctors are accountable to any king of medical mishaps with
the patient or any kind of adverse conditions faced by the patient. In order to address the
varied needs of the patients, a doctor should have a substantial knowledge about various
diseases, their aetiology, signs and symptoms, appropriate diagnostic techniques, and
medicines. The skills of a doctor can be categorised as scientific and general skills. One can
achieve the scientific skills the time of education. Scientific skills includes understanding the
pathophysiology of a disease, diagnosis and the administration of correct medications. The
general abilities of a doctor on the other hand can be harnessed by developing interpersonal
skills , being accountable and responsible, reliable and developing the coping skills for
working of long hours and overwhelming workload. 10 years of extensive training is

Additional pharmacist training is required for developing the skills in the pharmacist
sector, apart from the degrees, such as the home management reviews, like visiting the
home of the patients, providing suggestions about the use of the medications and
consulting the doctors (khalid, Pharmacist, summer hill Pharmacy Interview, 3.9. 2018).
How can you make your resume suitable for the mentioned job? Highlight any
volunteering position
Health care professionals often have to push their limits in order to provide appropriate care
to the patients. Hence it is the number of the volunteer works that you have done, will give
an additional edge to the qualifications. Volunteering tasks give hand on experience and
helps to develop significant knowledge, interpersonal skills and communication skills.
Volunteering work can be done in community health care programs, clinics or hospitals.
