The paper discusses and analyzes the current state of the training program on the driver safety for a delivery service and also analyzes the current training needs analysis process. Discussions Current State of the Training Program The United Parcel Service (UPS), which is headquartered in the city of Sandy Springs in Georgia, USA, provides a training program for the safety of the driver of the training program. It has been observed that the drivers of the United Parcel Service (UPS) Company are superior in the field of driving and safety. The United Parcel Service (UPS), which is also the world’s largest package delivery company, averages less than one accident for every million miles driven. The company UPS provides a defensive driving course named , “ Space and Visibility “ , which is conducted and completed in the highways and also the public roads .The package car driver of UPS are provided with 20 hours of classroom and road training (Reychav & Wu, 2014). The parcel drivers of UPS company also have to accomplish three safety ride evaluations during their tenure of first 22 days as a new driver. These safety rides are the backbone for the drivers of the company, United Parcel Service. The drivers are provided with one evaluation ride with their supervisors after every six months . Incase of the event ofpreventable collision, the drivers are provided with additional training and also the discipline (Schlesinger, 2016). In case of the event of collision, the supervisor immediately conducts a full day safety ride check (Sleet,

The supervisor of the company, United Parcel Service rides the vehicle with the driver and also assesses the techniques and habits of the employee driver. The safety program provided to the drivers of the company , United Parcel Service (UPS) , are based on the “Five Seeing Habits “, these are also regarded as the secret to the success of UPS related to road safety . The five guidelines followed by UPS, which emphasizes the utility and necessity of Safety and Visibility while driving are as follows: Aim High in Steering– It is important to notice all the important as well as the unimportant positions in the road so that the driver is able to notice all the provided traffic information, which would be beneficial to them in order to take appropriate decisions related to road safety and driving (Mooren et al, 2014). Obtain the Big Picture –It is important for the driver to maintain proper distance for the determination of true potential hazards around the vehicle. Keep the eyes Moving –It is important for the driver to scan the roads and the surroundings properly and also shift or move the eyes constantly in order to identify any potential hazards. Leave Yourself an Out -It is one of the safety talk that are taught to the drivers of the company ,United Parcel Service (UPS) , it states about the ability of the driver to escape danger in case of any encountered negative situations (Reason, 2016) . The courses or the training program of UPS , emphasizes that the drivers need to be on the defense , in case of any situation .

The follows and provides one of the best Safety Training programs for their drivers ,and the effectiveness of their training program is evident from the reports which suggests that UPS records minimal number of accidents or death cases of drivers in USA .
