Job Analysis
Aker Solutions and Jacobs Engineering
Aker Solutions and Jacobs Engineering are two professional consulting companies. In the future,
I would like to become an engineering consultant. The two companies would provide me with
the idea of what happens in an engineering consultancy.
Aker Solutions has 15,000 working employees and is represented in 20 countries with 52 global
locations with an experience of 178 years. Aker Solutions is involved with exploration,
development, production, and decommissioning works in the oil field. The company's services
include field planning, feasibility and concept studies, floater designs, offshore wind solutions,
design and delivery of deep-water risers, specialist engineering, project management and
procurement, and wellheads. Aker Solutions is currently involved in several oil projects in
Australia, including the subsea oil exploration. The company has talent programs, where people
willing to pursue their internship would get a chance to work. There are no direct contacts
provided for professionals and managers involved in the recruitment of interns.
Jacobs Engineering offers consultancy solutions that solve problems and challenges in
urbanization, climate change, water scarcity, security, and digital proliferation. The company has

a global workforce of over 80,000, and annual revenue of $150 billion. The company's
foundational services include program and construction management, consulting, and operations
management. The company is involved in tackling problems in the environment, transportation,
water, built environment, advanced facilities, cybersecurity, weapons systems and mission
solutions, advanced R&D and technical facilities, and nuclear life cycle. It also deals with
energy, chemicals, and resources. In Australia, Jacobs Engineering is currently involved with the
railway, mining, and energy projects. Jacobs engineering has internship programs. Interested
applicants are encouraged to submit their applications to the company. There are no direct
contacts for professionals and managers involved in the recruitment of interns.
Since the contacts for professionals and hiring managers are not available, the idea is to submit
the applications in advance and request for immediate feedback. There is also a telephone
contact. The best strategy is to call and inquire if I can talk to the hiring manager or other
professionals involved with the hiring of interns. I can also use my network to ask about the
contacts of professionals working in the company. Social media may not be a reliable avenue,
but I will use LinkedIn to find out if I can chat with employees.

Strategy for Connection
I will use the phone contacts and email address to ask if I can communicate with the
professionals involved with hiring. I can also get touches of crucial people through people in my
network that may have the connections or may know how to obtain the contacts. Additionally, I
can use professional and social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and so forth.

Bodies Operating in Sydney
Some of the professional organizations in Sydney include the Institute of Industrial Engineers,
Professional engineers Australia, Materials Australia, Mechanical Engineering Society,
Engineers Australia, Australian Cost Engineering society, and Transport society Australia. Most
of the bodies do not have upcoming events except Engineers Australia which have organized
several forthcoming conferences. The idea is to identify conferences with topics in fields which I
am interested in then register to participate. Once at the meeting, I can meet and interact with
engineers.
Feedback Activity
Through engaging in the Peer Feedback Activity, I enhanced my knowledge and improved my
work. I will respond by making comments on what I have learned, and ask suggestion on how
best I can improve. Developing people's work is advantageous since I learn what others know
and I do not know. The other advantage is that it helps me to check if I am on the right track.
Learning the Subject
This subject is interesting. The best thing about it is the aspect of studying and relating to the
outside world. It facilitates faster transfer of ideas into practice. It is also a practical-oriented
subject which makes it more enjoying.
3D: Suggested learning journal work
Photography and incident journaling is helpful since it saves much space. I need to take photos
and keep it instead of writing many notes.
