INTRODUCTION
A safe and healthy environment for children needs to be established and maintained in
the State of Queensland. There is a need to implement and promote effective hygiene practices
for the health and safety of children. National Quality Standard (NQS) set the national
benchmark for early childhood education and care. In order to support National law, National
Regulation provides information on the range of operational requirement for education and care
service. The roles and responsibilities of workers and officers in Work Health and Safety
regulator for children will be presented in this assessment.
TASK-1

2. Two Quality Areas or Elements for health and safety in early childhood education and care
service
There are various quality areas that are essential for children in order to give education
and care to them. These quality areas are given so as to provide a better knowledge of quality
service and assist families of these children to make better decisions regarding their education
and care. The two areas that are selected are as follows-: Educational program and practice – The objective of Early Childhood Education and
Care is to make sure that program and practices that related with education need to
encourage and enhance the learning and development of children. In various school care
services, this program helps to develop skills, knowledge of the children. In order to
maximize opportunities for each child's learning this program organza various activities
such as quiz, debate etc. for the children. All the information and documentation related
to child's program and progress is made available to families. To extend each child's
learning the educators use intentional teaching to respond to children's ideas and play.
 Children health and safety - This area will mainly focus to reduce the risks and secure
children from injuries, infection and harm. It will promote the health and safety of

children in the State of Queensland. Various measures are taken in order to reduce the
impact of injuries on the children. A quality education is the right of all the children. The
need of each child's need to be supported. In order to meet the child's need for sleep,
relaxation and rest the opportunities are identified for each child's comfort. Various
measures are taken to control the spread of infectious disease such as malaria.
3. The Quality areas that aims to achieve in regards to health, safety and well- being
The Children's health and safety quality area will be helpful in achieving the health and
safety and well-being of children as all the needs related to the health of the children will be
supported. The practices that promote effective hygiene will be implemented for the health and
safety of the children. The nutritious and healthy food that is appropriate for children will be
provided. Through planned and spontaneous experiences physical activities will be promotes for
each child. The adequate supervision will be given to children at all times. In order to protect
children from any harm and any hazard the precaution will be given.
4. Alignment of at least one practice to the National Quality Standard (NQS)
In order to maintain children's health and safety, the practice of promoting physical
activity among children aligns with NQS. It ensures that educators, coordinators and staff
members are aware about their responsibilities and roles with respect to the physical health every
child. The NQS will also promote the healthy eating for each child and proper facilities for gym,
playing will be given to each child as per requirement.

2. Identification of section that relates to recording an incident, injury, trauma or illness.

The section 174 of National Regulations provides approved service in conditions where a
child is injured, becomes ill or suffers from trauma. The national regulations 85-87,168-177-
178,183 provide care and support for these children. This regulation requires that the record
related to injury, illness and trauma need to be kept and this record need to be accurate and
should be stored confidentially from child until the age of 25 years. The information must be
recorded as soon as possible within 24 hours of incident, illness or trauma.
3.Details about the information that must be included in an incident, injury, trauma or illness
Record
The details about the person such as name, roles, date and time and signature who is
filling the record need to be filled. The details related to child such as child name, date of birth,
age, gender etc. need to be maintained in the record. The details regarding incidents such as date
of incident, time, location, name of witness, witness sign etc. need to be mentioned in the record.
The cause of trauma/injury and circumstances surrounding any illness need to be mentioned. The
nature of trauma such as eye injury, rash, tooth, choking etc. The actions taken need to be
mentioned. In actions taken the information regarding the action taken need to be mention d. At
the last parental acknowledge need to be mentioned with the date and sign of parents.
4. The requirements for notifying parents of an incident, injury, trauma and/or illness
As per the Education and Care Services National Regulations the parents need to keep the
information regarding the trauma, injury and incident that took place with child confidential from
the child till age of 25.
5. Identification of the relevant policy and procedure for completing an incident, injury, trauma
and/or illness record
Within the time period of 24 hours the information related to trauma, injury and incident
need to be recorded. The record related to incident, injury and trauma need to maintained and
correct information need to be provided in it.

TASK-3
1. The Queensland government is the regulator of territory and is responsible to look upon
the safety aspect of the businesses towards their workers and employees.
2. It enforces health and safety laws and works towards the improvement of work health and
safety in Queensland by reducing the risk of workers being killed or injured during job.
In order to provide and manage workers the work cover Queensland provide
compensation insurance for Queensland employers and their workers. The lifetime
benefits are being given to the workers as per the work, health and safety law. Workers
need to acquire and keep up to date knowledge of work health and safety matters. The
officers will see the compensation schemes of Queensland workers. They will educate
employees and employers on the legal obligations. The PCBU will enforce all the laws
related to safety and health of the employees and officers at workplace. They will
examine abut workplace fatalities and serious injuries. The government of Queensland
will also work for maintaining a separate law for electrical safety and mining safety.
Under the WHS law for individual, business or organization that are conducting business
a personal conducting business or undertaking is a legal term. A person who perform
work for PCBU is considered as a worker.
3. This is to state about the workers in regard to their work and health and safety
responsibilities where in the above referred site, workers are merely classified as
individuals who are carrying out their respective work in any capacity. On considering to
their own health and safety accountabilities, they are responsible to take a reasonable care
of their own well-being and security. Also, they are required take a reasonable care of
their acts and behaviours that should comply by the set organisational norms.

4. This is with a similar consideration of stating the work and health and safety related
accountabilities of officers who are referred to be the employees responsible to operate
within area equipped with electrical set ups. Herein, they are also responsible to take a
reasonable care of their own health and safety as well as safety from electrical
equipment’s. It is with another accountability of acting in accordance to the set
organisational policies to avoid any adversities on their wellbeing as well as on others.
5. It is on referring to similar liabilities of PCBU’s known as the duty holders who are
required to control the workplace as a way of assuring that it is safe from the equipped
electrical equipment’s. A prime responsibility of PCBU’s is therefore to ensure a safe
functioning at the workplace where the installed electrical equipment’s must be repaired
and in proper working condition. It is due to the fact where PCBU’s are also the
importers of electrical equipment’s and thus accountable to take care of their timely
maintenance to avoid any accidental issues.

Examples -:1. At the time of monitoring safety policy it is analyzed that floor was wet and no
one was there to clean it. One of the patient was falls while walking and suffered from leg
fracture. There is a need to eliminate physical hazard at workplace by discarding un- repairable
damaged equipment so as to avoid injuries.
Example 2. At the time of day to day monitoring I noticed that wires of electric machine was
not switched. As because they are old and less in use so no one take care of it. of and whoever
touch it may suffer from serious injury. The electricity, machines that are used in workplace can
cause fire and electric shock among workers. The old machines need to be replace with the new
one. The non-toxic agents need to be used at workplace. Advanced machines that are not
dangerous for workers can be used.

3. The two examples can be as follows -:
 The child beds without bedrails can cause the risk of falling and other injuries. It is
important to keep beds of children neat and clean. Along with this, all the risky hazard
need to be kept safely locked so that not children can reach to it.
 It is important to keep floor dry as because children play and run which lead to increase
the chances of fall and they make suffer from injury
4. A hazardous manual task is a task that needs a person to push, pull or life things, person. This
type of task that is done by the person can cause injury in the body.
5. The two examples can be relating to high force that is slippery and uneven floor at the
workplace are hazard and can seriously cause accident. Floor need to be clean regularly so that
spill, oil can be removed which can be slippery.
The hazardous manual task can lead to muscle fatigue that would reduce the work capacity of
workers and pains and discomfort.
6. The loads, tools, machinery and equipment and the system of work and work organization are
the two examples that hazard manual task will look like. The muscular strain can be caused due
to overexertion or repetitive movement.
