3. INTRODUCTION
a. Research Background
Companies around the world focus on raising their sale and profitability. For this
purpose, they make use of strategies that are helpful enough to develop positive perception
within the mind of customers. It includes strategies like low pricing, discount offers, etc.
(Mackey and Gass, 2015). It is essential for the business to ensure that they are able to realize the
need and necessity of customers and right steps are taken with the help of which the rate of sales
and profitability is increased (Noe and Wanek, 2014). There are many type of activities that are
implemented and for each of the activities formed, it requires to have proper support of workers
so that they put on their efforts and contribute effectively towards the growth and development.
When they are not able to perform their set of roles efficiently, then it has negative impact over
the business. In order to conduct this research, Sainsbury south London was chosen as a case
study. It is regarded to be the one of the largest supermarket in the UK. The main focus of the
research is made on employee’s performance with the help of training and development. They
aim at delivering their customers with high quality services (Mackey and Gass, 2015).
The aim of this research is to understand the consequence of training and improvement on
worker performance using a case study of Sainsbury south London.
b. Research Problem
There are various types of problems which are faced by the cited firm like employee
turnover, demotivated workers, etc. (Ford, 2014) However, one of the main problems that are
faced is in relation with the employee’s performance at Sainsbury south London. With these
changes in the taste and preference of customer take place with the time. It is important that they
are able to understand them effectively (Ford, 2014). The rate of performance within Sainsbury
local Victoria is negatively affecting and main cause for this reason is ineffective performance by
workers. Further, there are some many other firms which provide the quality and services and so
service users have the option of shifting to other companies in case their requirements are not
satisfied. The sales and rate of profitability is getting affected negatively due to lack of proper
performance from the side of employees. Apart from this, the rate of employees turnover is also
high and the new workers who are hired are not enough skilled or trained for understanding the
requirement of customers (Noe and Wanek, 2014). In order to overcome the issue one of the
