Topic Statement, Research Questions and Literature Brief
The topic statement selected for the current research is to analyse the impacts of
occupational safety along with health problems on the performance of employees though
analysing the case of Woolworths Limited. The findings will be aligned with this research topic
based on which analysis will be carried out regarding the ways in which company’s management
can develop occupational health and safety initiatives in enhancing performance of its employees
(Alvesson and Sköldberg 2017).
The research questions that are to be addressed through completion of the current
research are indicated below:
Primary Research Question
What is the impact of occupational safety and the heath programs on the performance of
the employees working in Woolworths limited?
Secondary Questions
What are the impacts of poor health programs and occupational safety?
What are the best ways in which occupational safety and health programs can be
implemented within a company?
What is the significance of developing efficient rules that are targeted towards governing
occupational health and safety?
From carrying out the literature review it waas revealed that several issues concerning
occupational safety along with health programs among various employees is attaining popularity

across several regions of the world. Moreover, Bendl, Booysen and Pringle (2018) also revealed
in their previous studies that occupational safety is the most important disciplines which deal
with certain parameters having an intention of dealing with certain conditions that are related
with workplace injuries through monitoring the health conditions of employees in the companies.
From the literature review it was also gathered that Brannen (2017) evidenced that there is an
increased need for addressing occupational health and safety programs among employees in
order to offer them a clear understanding that can take place in the workplace environment along
with implementing the program by leaders in as reasonable manner.
Research Design
Selecting suitable research design can provide the research with increased opportunity of
guiding the reasechers towards attaining a specific research goals based on the set research
objectives. It can also facilitate the researcher in providing the references through decreasing the
targeted results within which the remaining part if the overall research is carried out on a definite
research goal (Buchanan and Bryman 2007). Research design is segmented to be of three types
explanatory, exploratory and descriptive research design. The current research is intended to
analyse the impacts of occupational safety along with health problems on the performance of
employees though analysing the case of Woolworths Limited. Considering same, it is evident
that the current research is focused on explaining a detailed description of the factors that causes
problems for the employees in the company and is related with the occupational safety and
health programs followed in the organisation. Along with analysing the factors or issues related
with occupational safety and health concerns, the researcher is also focused on developing a list
of recommendations in decreasing the research problems at the end of the study (Burke-Johnson
and Onwuegbuzie 2004).
