Summary
Human beings tend to have quotients and emotions forming an integral part of
their existence. The two quotient that human beings tend to possess are emotional
quotient and intelligence quotient. They determine the fact about how a human being
functions in day to day life. The intelligence quotient deals with the presence of mind
and intellect in a human being, whereas on the other hand, the emotional quotient
deals with the capabilities of self-awareness, motivation, understanding others,
managing the emotions and themselves in an individual. It is very important for
human beings to possess both of these as they make the human beings capable of
managing themselves and adapt with the reality. There are theories associate with the
intelligent quotient that has been found previously by psychologists. In 1905, Alfred
Binet, a French psychologist developed some of the measures regarding finding out
intelligence that are relevant to the achievements an individual make in his or her life.
According to him, there are few tests that were used for determining the level of
intelligence which include reading of words, reasoning, digital strings and so on. The
single intelligence on the other hand is a concept that was found in the early 20th
century by a psychologist named Charles Spearman. He introduced the ‘g’ or general
factor that determine the level of general intelligence in an individual. The theory of
Hereditarian was founded by Goddard who is an American psychologist. He proposed
that the intelligent quotient is found hereditarily in an individual. Later on, he changed
his theory and said that it can be change in an individual by training. During the time
of world war one, IQ tests were taken of the militants those were associated with
trainings. However, an activity is introduced for the school students that is discussed
for determining their EQ and IQ.
