Introduction
Emotional intelligence forms the integral part of management as it helps an individual in
recognizing, understanding and managing the emotional aspects in an individual or others. In this
relation, the discussion will undertake an evaluation of the different quadrants of the EI
scorecard. It will help me in understanding the strengths and weaknesses in my emotional
intelligence context. The discussion will also evaluate a stressful situation in my workplace and
the personal stressors.
1. Evaluation of the test results
I undertook the EI (Emotional Intelligence) test, which has helped me in understanding
the different emotional aspects that drives my actions. I received 7 out of 10 in the Self
Awareness quadrant of the EI test, which signified that I am well aware of the emotional aspects
prevalent in me. The identification of the emotional aspects has helped me in maintaining the
efficiency of the operations as per the concerns faced by the people. On the other hand, I
received 7 on self management which indicated that I am good at controlling the emotions while
at work. I received 7 in social awareness, which portrayed that I am well aware of the different
social needs and constrains. Social awareness has thereby helped me in establishing an
empathetic approach while understanding the political, social and organizational requirements.
However, I received 3 in Relationship management, which clearly indicated that i am not a good
communicator which might affect the capabilities of influencing and motivating the people
around me.
Introduction

scorecard. It will help me in understanding the strengths and weaknesses in my emotional
intelligence context. The discussion will also evaluate a stressful situation in my workplace and
the personal stressors.
1. Evaluation of the test results
I undertook the EI (Emotional Intelligence) test, which has helped me in understanding
the different emotional aspects that drives my actions. I received 7 out of 10 in the Self
Awareness quadrant of the EI test, which signified that I am well aware of the emotional aspects
prevalent in me. The identification of the emotional aspects has helped me in maintaining the
efficiency of the operations as per the concerns faced by the people. On the other hand, I
received 7 on self management which indicated that I am good at controlling the emotions while
at work. I received 7 in social awareness, which portrayed that I am well aware of the different

However, I received 3 in Relationship management, which clearly indicated that i am not a good
communicator which might affect the capabilities of influencing and motivating the people
around me.

2. Resemblance of the test results with the emotional state and the tendencies
The emotional test results clearly resembled with my emotional state and the tendencies. I
received a lower grade in relationship management, which signified that I am not an established
communicator. I have come across different situations, in my real life, where lack of suitable
communication has affected my capability of transmitting the right message to the audience. On
the other hand, I personally believe that I lack proficient skills of communication that affected
my capability to empower, support others and undertake a collaborative operation. However, I
have a significant awareness on my emotional traits and thereby I can manage and control the
same in different situations. Moreover, I am also aware of the social traits relating to
organizational, political and social expectations, which has helped me in understanding the
positions of the same. However, the lack of suitable communicability has restricted my abilities.
3. Example of a stressful situation in the workplace
I have been working in a manufacturing organization as a production manager for the last
three years. The organization has been doing well and the production department worked
effectively. However, the management decided to implement automated process and thereby
layoff a greater part of the employees in the production department. I was entrusted with the
responsibility of communicating and convincing the employees to bring forth the change in the
process. The lack of proficient communicability affected my capabilities of taking out the action
with which I was entrusted. The particular stressor that restricted my capabilities was “Distress”,
which raised anxiety and concern while communicating the message of the layoff to my fellow
subordinates. I felt unpleasant while communicating with the employees in the production
department, which affected my performance. However, I was well aware of the needs of the
organization relating to productivity of the same due to my higher rank of social awareness.

convincing my subordinates to the change process, which resulted to conflicts and resistance
from the employees towards the change.
4. Summary of the strengths and weaknesses based on the analysis
The test helped me in understanding my areas of capabilities and competencies while
operating in the organizational context. Self Awareness and Self Management are the major
strengths in me which has helped me in managing my emotional elements in accordance with the
different situational demands. On the other hand, the lack of suitable Relationship management,
specifically communication skills, has overpowered my capabilities of influencing and
persuading my subordinates even with the suitable knowledge of the social needs.
Conclusion
Therefore, from the above analysis it might be stated that I lacked proficient
communicability, which affected my capability of influencing and motivating the subordinates to
a desired change. However, the aspects relating to self awareness, self management and social
awareness helped me in enhancing the operations as per the expectations. Therefore, the research
and the test helped me in understanding the different emotional strengths and weaknesses in me,
which requires attention.
Social awareness helped me in understanding the needs of the concerned organization relating to
