2 Introduction The purpose of this report is to analyze the results when I conducted an emotional intelligence test and how the E.Q test can be used for human resource purposes. Emotional intelligence or E.Q is the ability of a person to know his or her emotions, weaknesses, strengths, goals and values and their impact on other people while also using their gut feelings in order to guide their decisions(Ang, and Van Dyne, 2015). Emotional intelligence involves redirecting or controlling one’s impulses and disruptive emotions to changing circumstances. The E.Q test was done at a physician’s center. Analysis The ideal objective for doing E.Q tests is not getting high scores but to find a good balance. When I conducted the test my score for flexibility was 60 and a normal range is around 40-145. This therefore means that the low score was not necessarily bad. My score for self- awareness was 121 and that means the score was fundamentally good and can be interpreted to mean that I am more aware of what was happening around me. It can also mean that I am focusing more on my own feelings than what is around me(Carson, Carson, and Birkenmeier, 2016). The scores on my empathy and interpersonal relationships were high which means I enjoy socializing with people at the work place. A high empathy score means that people tend to confide more in me and am able to give them solutions. A high emotional self-awareness means that i pay a lot of attention when my body gives me physical signals that something is not well.
3 Emotional triggers in workplaces Emotional Triggers in workplaces can bring a very stressful environment and bring or trigger many stressful and negative feelings. It is important for everyone to control their feelings in workplaces especially the managers to help workers de-escalate emotional situations. Most emotional triggers are brought about by unhealthy working condition like pressure and stress (Schutte, and Loi, 2014). Control of emotional triggers in workplaces helps the workers to maintain the morale of workers and to perform according to their potential which help them contribute to a healthy work environment. In the workplace I use EQ in controlling excessive feelings that bring about negative emotions. Cultural EQ In a workplace, there are diverse cultures: corporate, national, religious, educational, gender, sexual orientation and even diverse professional languages. Cultural emotional intelligence influences us to see the world through the cultural lenses and we learn that how to adopt to different cultures and different languages. The impact of different cultural behaviors in workplace have mixed reactions in workplaces due to different ways of doing things(Serrat, 2017). Workplace EQ Workplace emotional intelligence helps strengthen the resilience of team members and to control the in terms of pressure and work related stresses. There is a positive relationship between emotionally effective people and the attainment of positive business objectives. Conclusion
4 The theory of EQ is very accurate. The EQ evaluation test express the emotional intelligence of people. It is accurate and useful. It will apply effectively if team members take the test to know how to control their emotion.
