INTRODUCTION Employability skills refers to those skills which are needed by an individuals to make them employable. These skills and attitudes increase the employee to enhance their performance in business and makes them an effective employee in which organisation will achieve the personal goals (Andrews and Russell, 2012). Their are various types of employability skills such as communication, self management and team work skill which are required in particular person for working in an association. In the present report, is based on Travelodge which is an private company operating in the hotels and hospitality industry throughout United Kingdom. In respectiveindustryTravelodgehaveapprox.400hotelsandrestaurantsworldwide.Itis considered as the second largest in hotel sector in terms of budget. This file analyse the set of own responsibilities and performance objectives and reviewing how motivational techniques can be used to improve quality of performance. It also determines the need to develop interpersonal and transferable skills by understanding the dynamics of working with others. At last it had also describe aboutvarious tools and methods through which company can be able to develop strategies of solving problem which is mentioned in the report. 1
TASK 1 P1.1 Develop a set of own responsibilities and performance objectives There are several roles and responsibilities of individual which can results in achieving objectives as well as predetermined goals. Personal responsibility – As being a manager at Travelodge, my primary role is to ensure all daily activities at hotel that will be executed in a proper way. My responsibilities will include maintainingdirect andindirect relationship with theemployeesormaintain effective relationship among employees as well as boosting employees relations . Therefore, performance objective to this responsibility is to improve communication which will be analysed by rating. I saw this responsibility to become familiar with each and every individual in the organisation, as well as indirect relationship helps me to carry a professional relation with staff. In addition to this my responsibility in Travel lodge is to makequick and correct decisionsregarding employees work, policies and regulations in order to conduct business operations in a smooth way which results in increasing customers for the respective firm.For example, I have to make quick decision about service menu and delegating duties to staffs at various levels. Further my responsibility also includes tolearn while workingin Travelodge which enhance myknowledge and skills. I need to carry attitude of learning things from other employees. As a manager I should be aware about the rights and responsibilities of employees within Travelodge hotel (Cunningham and Hillier, 2013).For example, I have to understand the mistake properly which was done previously and compare it with next similar task and measure the improvement such as outcomes from delegated responsibility to staffs now and previously. I shouldhave proper knowledge regardingemployment legislations and ethicsto work according within the set rules. This helps me to provide appropriate information and updates so that employees can be made ware about the changes in laws, rules and regulations. Performance Objectives-In order to achieve effective objectives within definite time period, being a manager at Travelodge I must analyse my strengths and weaknesses. Use of various systems in order to increase employee's performance-Appraisal system in the organisation helps the employees to increase their performance. Key areas such as 2

higher salary and bonus for their effective work. Moreover personnel should also be promotions according to their strengthsin order to enhance performance and increase productivity. Moreover , being a manager I should concentrationtime management skillsas it will enable me to complete task within specified time and will enhance my other employability skills which results in effective completion of tasks. Along with this properly completing the tasks time helps me to take effective decisions for Travelodge.For example, I have to prepare a proper time table for every task and every activity of day and night work. So that the time can be managed properly. All the above measures will be beneficial for me to set my objectives , responsibilities and determine my strengths and weaknesses. P 1.2 Evaluate own effectiveness against defined objectives Setting and monitoring objectives-Being manager at Travelodge I can adopt and implement different strategies in order to improve overall performance at Travelodge (Mishra, 2014). This helps me to completely monitor and evaluate the strategies that are helping towards achieving set targets or not. In order to encourage and enhance performance of workforce, I have used appraisal system for employees This technique helped me to decrease turnover of employees and made hemhighlyresponsibletowardstheirwork.Byawayofincreasingsalaryandother compensation benefits it is beneficial for me to achieve targets of Travelodge. Meanwhile effective training and communication to the employees help me to maintain effective relationship among the employees and enhance it goodwill in the market. Apart from this, performance appraisal can be used by me in order to encourage employees performance. In this method there are different criteriasuch as paired comparison method, ranking method, checklist method and many more (de Guzman and Choi, 2013). Through this method, I can develop employees as well as my skills. This helps me to delegate roles and responsibilities as per the employees strengths and weaknesses. According to the variance in audit frame it can be said as my strength. Which shows that I have an effective communication manner. Which helps in maintain good relation with employees and customers. Presentation skill:Presentation skill is that type of skill which define the way of presenting ideas and plans among others. According to variances in audit framework I have to need work hard on that skill. Because I have very poor presentation skill which result in improper delegation of authority. Decision making skill:According to skill audit framework I have poor decision making skill, which shows my weakness. 1.3 Recommendations for improvement Under the respective organisation it has been recommended by me to make certain changes at Travelodge which are discussed below- In order to attract more customer towards Travelodge, rating method can be used by me in order to rate staff members as per their performance and through this it helps to identify their weaknesses and allow them to gain competitive advantage at market place of United kingdom. 4
Effective use of proper appraisal system will help in motivating the employees and will also put a positive impact on the performance and helps organisation to achieve their set targets. By analysing the deviations in the performance of employees at Travelodge, manager can deliver training to heir staff members on their weak points and improve their performance effectively (Collet Hinedu and Plessis,2015). P 1.4 Review motivational techniques that can be used to improve quality of performance- Motivation is a term that can make futuristic projections to accomplish results and can gain competency that can manage all resources (Robles, 2012). Motivational technique is used me to improve the performance of all employees in travelodge. I as a manage will used maslow hierarchy theory to improve the quality of managers- Physiological needs- In order to fulfil physiological needs , it is the responsibility of the hotel manager to analyse basic needs of employees such as food, shelter, clothing and fulfils them accordingly which leads to effective performance of employee. Safety needs- Safety needs of employees of Travelodge includes health security, safety of finance and properly. These requirements should be fulfilled by the manager of Travelodge will enables them to increase employees productivity. Love and Belongingness-Their are different methods which can be used to create a sense of love and belongingness atmosphere in Travelodge. Creating an effective culture at the work place as well as equal treatment of employees encourages staff members to give out best performance in an organisation. Esteem needs-This includes the need to make respect in the organisation as well as sense of confidence and achievement between all employees. Manager of Travelodge should fulfil these needs in turn to improve quality of performance of employees Self actualisation-It refers to the need for personal growth and development through nones's life. Managers of Travelodge should allow high growth of employees in their career which will motivate them to perform effectively and achieve organisational goals . Rewards and incentives-It has been determined that if the employees are given appropriate salary and rewards than performance of employees and company's productivity increases. 5

Problems at the respective organisation is discussed below- Problems in travelodge- Travelodge hotel faces problem of high employee turnover due to the inappropriate delegation of roles and responsibilities at the work place and also because of the lack of communication between employees and management in an organisation. Solution- Above described problem will affect the growth of employees and organisation. Being an HR manger, I analysed this problem as a common work place issue for which effective decisions has to be taken in order to increase the productivity of the employee. In order to avoid such problem, effective training sessions should be provided to the employee in order to enhance their skills and capabilities (Connor and Bodicoat, 2017). This would help them to increase the employees productivity at Travelodge. Problem-Another problem addressed at Travelodge was excessive workloads on the employees to meet customer demands. Solution- Being an HR manager, This problem can be addressed by proper hiring and selecting the suitable employees at the respective organisation. Moreover employees should be assigned task according to their skills and capability as well as employees should be made allow to work in different shifts such as day shifts, night shifts which will reduce he workload as well as maintain work life balance in Travelodge. P 2.2 Communication in various styles Effective communication in the organisation is crucial for smooth functioning of business operations. Manager at Travelodge should concentrate on effective communicating the roles and responsibilities as well as decisions which are made by them(Cottrell and Fang, 2015). Verbal- It is a type of oral communication in which message is transmitted through spoken words. Effectiveness of this communication depends upon the speakers tone, clarity of speech, body language and quality of words used in conversation. Non verbal- In this, communication between the employees are done through the use of facial expressions, body languages and posters. P2.3 Identify effective time-management strategies in relation to the work-based experience or in your role as a manager at Travelodge Time management is an important aspect in travelodge, it is important for every organisation to maintain time balance for completion of task that has been allocated to them. When the employees of travelodge will complete the task on time they will attain organisation objectives in order to gather some needs and analysis. Prioritising workload of employees-An effective way for time management is to prioritise workload of employees. Managers of Travelodge should ensureall employees that they should review all task assigned to them as well as to organise them according to their level of importance (Robles, 2012). It is role of individual team members to respect each other and conduct their work in effective and efficient manner. They help respective company in collecting data and do work related to it. To achieve goal and objective of a company all team members work together so that they accomplish and achieve share goal in effective manner. The company can provide proper feedback and make different training methods to implement various plans . Get staff and management involved- This is very important impact that travelodge can start business with any member of staff,but getting the company to accept the implementation of a new idea that can requires the entire staff to be involved in some way with planning.
