INTRODUCTION Employment skills can be defined as technical and interpersonal skills of an individualthat are essential to make them employable. Communication skills, learning attitude anddiscipline are some very important skills. The competition for grabbing a job is rising these days,so it is very important for each and every individual to develop skills which are beneficial fromemployment point of view. In Health and Social Care (HSC) units, it is very crucial for all theemployees to encompass special skills in order to handle patients effectively This assignment isbased on responsibilities and performance objectives at work.P1.1 and M1 Develop a set of own responsibilities and performance objectives at work.In HSC units, the prime motive of all the workers and employees is to provide comfortand convenience to the patients or people who are living there. In such sector team work, propercommunication skills and sense of responsibility is very important for the employees to ensurecomfort stay for all the individuals who are living there. Handling social and health care unit is ajob of big bound authority. All the staff members and employees who are working there need tofollow set of rules and regulations in order to fulfil the expectations of the care unit visitors. Being an employee at National Health Service (NHS), it is my responsibility to handle allthe circumstances and situations efficiently in order to satisfy the patients who are staying there.Maintaining stability is very critical for such organisations. The main objective of this firm is tohelp people and satisfy their needs for providing better and healthy life to them. In health andcare centres like NHS, it is very predominant for every individual to encompass some sort ofskills so that they can handle unpredictable situations or emergencies (Collet, 2015). Theperformance objective of such organisation revolves around coordination, orientation andsupporting each other in various situations. P1.2 and D1 Evaluate own effectiveness against defined objectives.Every employee should work beyond the set lines of objectives in order to give their fullpotential to the organisation. The criteria of assessing the performance are based on targetachievement, maximum satisfaction of the patients and statement visions. For upgrading level ofperformance, it is important for the employee to work more efficiently and effectively. Inorganisations like National Health Service, it is important for all the employees to develop senseof responsibility among them to ensure the comfort and satisfaction of the members who arestaying in the care unit. Motivation is very important in such organisations to keep the morale1

high of each and every member so that they work as per the desired norms. Training anddevelopment program for the employees is important for the betterment of the patients whichwill ensure high end growth in level of performance. As an employee in NHS, it’s my duty toevaluate performance of other employees on my own for the enhancement of the care unit(Cottrell, 2015). P1.3 Recommendations and ImprovementsIn organisations like National Health Service, it is very important for employees andworkers to develop sense of responsibility among them so that they can conduct their duties insuch a way that it can be beneficial for both employees and individual.While developing teams and groups in such organisations, it is very important for theirmanagers and leaders to implement it in such a way that every individual in a team encompassone special ability or skill. This will lead to proper management of the care centre. Employee engagement activities should also be conducted so that importance of teamwork and social responsibility can be generated among them. For avoiding confusions anduncertainty, it is important to set achievable targets(Benson, 2014). The role, objectives and responsibilities of each and every employee and worker must bewell structured so that it becomes easy to attain them. The assessment of improvements shouldbe transparent for providing clear vision of work to the employees. P1.4 Motivational techniques to improve quality of performance. Performance of the employee is directly related to the level of motivation. The employeeswho are motivated towards the firm give their full potential in its growth and development. Inorganisations like NHS, it is very important for them to motivate their employees for ensuringproper care of their patients. The main motive of such organisations is to provide satisfaction andcomfort to their members. These are non-profit organisations whose core motive is to take careof visitors and that can be done by motivating employees towards their goals and responsibilities.When the person is satisfied, the sense of responsibility comes from within towards their job andobjectives. According to Maslow's hierarchy, motivation depends on five stages: Physiological needs, safety needs, personal needs, self-esteem and self-actualisation. Physiological needs: Basic needs like food, water and shelter. Maslow in his theory,states that fulfilment of basic needs is very important of an individual to keep them motivatedtowards their life. 2
