Employability skills refers to the skills a
person should have to consider as an
employee in an organization
It is very important for the employees in the
organization to work in a team
In context to health and social care, team
working makes the employees to achieve
great solutions regarding the work and health
of the patients
Team is considered as a potential working of
combining skills and experiences together to

The Belbin team theory can be focused to
understand the roles of people in a team as in
organizations such as health and social care,
teams are combined to achieve the shared
goal effectively.
According to Belbin, the individuals play 9
different roles which are segmented in three
functions as
 thought oriented roles
 people oriented roles
 action-oriented roles

THOUGHT ORIENTED ROLES
Plant people are
considered as the
most innovative
people in the
organization who
provides the best
possible solutions for
any problem
Monitor evaluator
evaluates the ideas
given by plant people
and analyses the
situation and ideas
practically
Specialists are the
people perform the
finalized ideas in
practical work in a
specific task or work

PEOPLE ORIENTED ROLES
There are three roles of
people coordinator, team
worker and investigator.
The coordinator is
responsible for maintaining
coordination in the team
Team workers are the
people working in the team
together to complete the
assigned tasks
Investigators are the people
who maintains the use of
resources and relationship
with stakeholders

ACTION-ORIENTED ROLES
The first action role
played by people in
a team is to shape
the work and
shapers create the
tasks that are
challenging and
motivate other team
members to
complete the task
The next action role
is played by the
people as
implementer who
takes initiatives to
complete the tasks
created by shapers
The third role is of
complete finisher
which analyze the
work done and finds
the errors in the
work.

TEAM DYNAMICS
The factors influencing the
team work such as
relationship of the team
members, psychological
forces, different personalities
combined together to work,
working environment of team,
etc. are considered as a team
dynamics.

care, the relationship
maintained by healthcare
professionals to achieve a
common goal of taking care of
patients is considered as team

ANALYSE TEAM DYNAMICS AT NHS
To analyze the team dynamics at NHS,
Tuckman's model can be considered:
There are 4 stages of Tuckman’s model and
that are
 Forming
 Storming
 Norming
 performing

• This is the first stage of team dynamics
where the team members start interact
with each other and gather information
about their work and interests. In NHS,
when teams are formed the health care
assistants try to interact to gain the field of
other team member to ensure enough
knowledge has been gained and can used at
time of need.
Formin
g:
• This is the second stage where team
members start criticizing each other and
disagree with the adopted procedures.
There are high chances of conflicts in this
stage. In context to NHS team, when asked
for appropriate treatment for a particular
client or suggestions, the team members
disagree with each other and suggests
different solutions.
Stormin
g:

Cont.
• This stage finalize the roles, relationships,
procedures included and goal. It involves
the team members to work together with
designated roles and responsibilities. Every
health care worker is assigned with his
tasks and focus on his own to fulfill the
objective.
Norming:
• In this stage, the team members are
focused on taking decisions and solving the
problems to complete the task effectively.
At NHS, when any problem arise related to
health issues of a patient, the team
members together take decision to make
the patient overcome the problem.
