Employee absenteeism tends to have major impact on the functioning and running of company as
all the revenues, sales and profitability depends on the employees. For this, it is identified that
employees plays an important role in terms of increasing and decreasing the performance of
company and due to this, absenteeism and turnover of employees tends to negatively impact the
moral and productivity. It is a term which depicts that employees are absent considering the
planned and unplanned reason. In regard of this, organisation tends to conduct employee
assistance program that offer various services that are helpful for employees undertaking the
concerning issues that affect the attendance and performance of employees (Singh and et. al.,
2016). Absenteeism of employees can be cause by various reasons including poor management
communication practices, not setting attendance expectations, ineffective management of the
performance of employees and so on. For this, various methods are used in terms of eliminating
absenteeism from workplace and these are relevant and worthy undertaking the benefits of these
methods.
Write attendance policy: It tends to include the policy in terms of being tardy and
develop rules for the excessive absenteeism. It represent the factor in which employees are not
much punctual at the arriving time for their workplace like employees arrive to work 30 minutes
late. As excessive absenteeism include that employees take six or more unplanned leaves for the
uncertain period of time. For this, this policy becomes an effective measure for the good
performance as by writing down the attendance represent that company has proof for the arrival
of employees.
Reward good attendance: There are many organisation who tends to offer effective
reward to their employees in terms of incentives or bonus for their proper attendance and having
no unplanned leaves in the period of 12 months. In terms of this, when the attendance is
incorporated into the annual performance appraisal procedure then employees tends to get
reward in terms of increasing merit (Kang and Sung, 2017). For this, this technique is effective
as it tends to offering adequate paid time off by which employees have the option for planning
for leaves by using predetermined working hours.
Maintain good and healthy culture: It is important for the company to maintain good
and healthy culture at the workplace as it tends to provide flexibility and proper support to
employees which is beneficial to retain employees in an organisation. In regard of this, many

organisations tends to provide flexible working hours and culture which is useful in order to keep
talented and skilled employees in company. Moreover, if company face high absenteeism then it
tends to destroy the brand image of company and make survival of company worst.
Therefore, discussed strategies are effective in terms of retaining employees in an
organisation and also helpful in terms of increasing brand image and reputation of company in
the dynamic business environment.
