Legislations, codes of practice which help in handling
of medication
There are some current legislations, codes of practice as well as policy on
services which are provided through proper and effective medication that
should be followed in the distinctive care homes. Managers and staff
members of nursing home have to handle all the medications which are
provided by them to the patients. Employees of Sunlight care home have to
put orders of medicine and also properly maintained so that patients cannot
suffer. This will help them in delivering or offering services to the patients
who are suffering from different diseases. All the equipment’s which are
related to medication or medicines should be stored in a safe place and
records to be maintained in a proficient manner. When in Sunlight Care
Home medicines should be check on a regular basis and when they get
expired it should be disposed of as expired medicines affect the health of
individuals.
They have to maintain equality among choices, medication as well
as rights which are provided to the service users or the patients who
are taking the services of nursing home. According to the diseases,
medication along with the treatment and care should be provided so
that any type of constraints cannot occur. The person who provide
care to patients should be well trained. He or she having proper
knowledge about the medication as well as how they have to
maintain relation with the service user.
Manager and employees of Sunlight Care Home have to give or
provide training as well as guidance and have to conduct training
programs and should provide to every service user so that they can
get actual information about the practices along with the activities
that which they need to follow.
In the care home, all nurses’ therapists, doctors know about the
essential elements and situations so that they feel free and ensure
about safety as well as security of their service user. Care provider
should do effective conversation with the care taker so that can share
all information related to disease and on the basis of that treatments
as well as services can be delivered.
Effectiveness of policies and procedures within a
health and social care
Effectiveness of the policies and procedures in comparison to
administration of the medicines can be evaluate by doing the
process of medicine administration in step wise. Different steps
are present such as ordering process, recording process,
maintenance and disposal of the drug. In first step, organization
of drugs are done by giving order of medicine to users of health
and social care. As per the legislation and policies of corporation,
each and every medicine are being ordered from marketer
requires a written suggestion of professional. Other step is to
record the medicine phases in which all the prescriptions given
by chemists are recorded and are kept safely as document so that
it can be used in future. After that, in another step maintenance of
medicine is done. This is done by storing them in dry place. This
also describes the condition of storages of drugs so that it can be
preserved for a long period of time before getting expired. Then
the last step is the disposal policies of the drugs. This explains
how expired drugs can be disposed. For this purpose, medicines
are get sorted according to solid, liquid and aerosol medicines.
Sun light care home will collect those medicines and dispose
them as per the rules. This all increases the quality of medicine
administration and to avoid the use of expired drugs so that no
risk will be occur in future.
