Entrepreneur can be defined as the individual who is able to develop the operations of
a new organization by understanding various risks and also enjoying the rewards as well. The

and has established the major online retail organization named Amazon. The characteristics
of entrepreneurs will be discussed along with ideas that have been implemented by them as
well. The competitive advantages of the organization will also be analysed in the report in

Background of the entrepreneur
Jeff Bezos is an American entrepreneur who was able to play a major role in proper
growth of e-commerce and is the founder and CEO of Amazon.com. Amazon had started its
operations as a merchant of various books that were offered to the customers online and then
had diversified its operations in order to offer a wide variety of products to the customers.
Amazon had been successful in developing its position in the e-commerce industry with the
help of its variety of products and the services that are offered to customers as well. The
Dream Institute had been developed by Bezos while he was in high school in order to
promote creative thinking among the individuals. Bezos had moved to Seattle in order to
develop a virtual bookstore that was named as Amazon (Cnbc.com 2019).
The first book was sold by Amazon.com in the year 1995. Amazon.com then became
the leader in e-commerce industry within a short period of time with the support that had
been provided by the user-friendly website of the organization. The success gained by
Amazon had also provided encouragement to the browsers so that they are able to provide
their own reviews of the discounts and the books that are offered to the customers as well.
Bezos was able to understand the need for diversification of the operations that are developed
by Amazon in the e-commerce industry. The diversification was mainly based on the number
of products that are offered to the customers (Coulson-Thomas 2017).
