This report focuses on the importance of workplace equality and diversity in organizations, with a case study on Punto Car Company. It discusses the effectiveness of gender equality policies in maintaining employee productivity and explores ways to minimize workplace discrimination. INTRODUCTION
Equality means treating every individual equal and providing them with equal opportunities
based on their gender, religion, culture, age, disabilities and values. Equality in workplace
basically means that no fear of discrimination in exists between employees. According to
equality act 2010 there are certain rules and regulations that needs to be implemented in
company in order to promote equality. Act ensures that no discrimination exists on basis of pay
in between male and female. Diversity at workplace basically means recruiting such people who
are from different background and culture. They can also have distinct thought process and
perceptions. Present report will lay emphasis on Punto Car company which is a local
organization in Oldham. Company deals in Fiat cars and are based in Oldham. Assignment will
lay emphasis on research proposal which will be supported by Literature Review. It will also
analyses appropriate research methods. Study will reflect on the effectiveness of research
methods that are being applied to meet objectives.

P1. Research Proposal
Background: Workplace equality is one of the most important topic which has been
covered under equality act, 2010. The act emphasise that no workplace discrimination must
exists in organization as this will hamper their goodwill and reduce their efficiency towards
work. Male and Females in firm must be treated equally. They must be provided with equal
opportunities to grow. No harassment or bullying should take place in firm as this can create
chaos and conflict in organization. These aspects can hamper growth of company.
Discrimination faced by women, pregnant women and old aged people must be removed
Aim:
“To analyse the effectiveness of gender equality policy for maintaining employee’s workplace
productivity”: A case study on Punto Car Company”
Objectives:
 To understand the importance of Workplace equality and diversity in organization.
 To identify the relationship between Workplace equality and day to day business
activities of employees.
 To investigate the extent to which workplace gender equality policy helps in raising
Punto Car company’s productivity

 To find out ways to minimize work place discrimination in firms
Research Questions:

 How gender equality and day to day business activities of employees are interlinked?

Significance: Workplace equality is the most important in order to create employee’s loyalty
and reducing staff turnover. Organizations who have implemented various policies related to
equality have full control over their employees and even workers contribute their best in
organization. It increases productivity and operational efficiency. Company who do no treat their
employees equal can face serious consequences as workers can sue them for workplace
discrimination.
Rationale: Workplace discrimination must not exist in organization; everyone must be
treated equally as this will provide company with better opportunities. It enhances performance
level of employees and increases their knowledge related to their job. Goodwill of firm increases
that enhances worker’s belongingness. Employees become more loyal when workplace
discrimination does not exist. It assists in growth of company as productivity increases. More
skilled employees are attracted towards company.
Literature Review:
Importance of promoting equality and diversity in organisation.
In accordance with Foster, (2019) organizations who are engaged in treating all the
employees equal are able to create worker’s loyalty. It is very important for firm to treat all
workers equal on the basis of their religion, sex, colour, race, disabilities. This has assisted them
in enhancing productivity of workers which ultimately increases the efficiency of organization.
When employees at workplace are provided with equal opportunities then it enhances their skills
and abilities to perform the task which has been assigned to them. Diversity followed in
workplace can assist them in bringing better ideas, as employees from different culture will have
unique ideas that will increase productivity of company.

Identifying the relationship between Workplace equality and day to day business activities of
employees.
In the opinion of Morden, (2017) workplace equality and day to day activities of business
are closely related. As od inequality or workplace discrimination exists in organization it can
reduce the efficiency of employees to perform better. If male and females are not paid on basis of
their skills and abilities, then this will force them to leave organization which will increase
turnover of workers. Working environment is also hampered if equality is not followed in firm,
this will lay negative impact on day to day business activities of firm. Workplace discrimination
reduces employee’s efficiency.
Investigating the extent to which workplace gender equality policy helps in raising company’s
productivity.
In the view point of Thompson, (2016) workplace gender equality policy like equal pay
for equal work whether they are male or female will assist Punto car company in raising their
productivity as well as operational efficiency. They must also make sure that no discrimination
exists in their firm related to disability of any employee as this can lay negative impact on mind
of consumers. Policies related to giving female equal opportunity to lead the organization can
assist them in enhancing their goodwill, it will attract more female workers towards Punto car
company.
Finding out ways to minimize work place discrimination in firms.
As per the opinion of Gawrych, (2019) there are various ways to minimize workplace
discrimination. One is to provide employees with equal opportunities whether they are male or
female. Firm must also have engaged in creating policy of equal pay for equal work. Company
must involve in motivating female employees from time to time so that it increases their skills
and abilities related to work. Organization where equality exists makes work environment better.
Firm need to have concrete policies on promoting equality so that employee loyalty is being
created. They must make sure that no worker is miss-treated on basis of their color, disability or
race. Favoritism must not exist in organization.

P2 Appropriate research methods and approaches to primary and secondary research
Research methods is an important part of the whole research as it refers a procedure
which is being used by scholar in order to collect relevant data or information’s in order to
accomplish pre-determined goals.
Primary and secondary approaches: As like types of research, data collection also has
two methods. Researcher either collect data from primary sources or secondary sources.
Sometimes he/she makes an effective use of both sources with the main aim to make reliable and
qualitative research. Primary data collection is all about collecting first-hand data which are not
being used before (Williams and Reddish, 2018). There are several sources and examples via
researcher can collect these types of data such as: observations, questionnaire, survey etc. The
main disadvantage or limitation of this approach is it is time-consuming as it involves
observations.
On the other hand, secondary data are called second hand data because they are being
used before by different authors and researchers. Some examples of sources of secondary data
include: books and journals, articles etc. Limitation of this type is it can be vague and this type of
data may be inaccurate.

Research Method: it is based on the process that mainly used for identifying relevant
information related topic. It can be associated with the different paradigms assumption that will
conduct in research project. There are mainly 2 types of research such as: qualitative and
quantitative. In the type of quantitative, information’s are being collected in the form of numbers
or tit can be said that research gathers numerical data which are being analysed by using
mathematically based techniques. On the other hand, qualitative research is all about collecting
data by observing human behaviours and attitudes or collecting non-numerical data (Silverman,
2016).
The scholar has chosen the qualitative research method to collect the large number of
information related topic or subject. Researcher has chosen method for understanding previous
existing data or information.

Research philosophy: it is considered as vast topic that will use in research study for
depth analysis. It is mainly dealing with the knowledge of development, nature, behaviour and
source. The philosophy provides brief idea about the research project. There are different types
of philosophy such as pragmatism, realism, interpretivism and positivism (Kumar, 2019). The
scholar has chosen the interpretivism philosophy because it helps to understand the concept of
research topic where they can integrate with the human interest into case study.
Data analysis: it is a type of process that mainly involves interpretation for analysis and
finding the figures, facts and numbers. It is mainly attempting to find out reason behind the
research case study. The investigator has chosen the primary data collection by using thematic
analysis. In qualitative method, thematic analysis approach applicable to collect information or
data in proper manner.
Ethical consideration: It is based on the set of rules and regulations that describe about the
expectation and behaviour of members, who are participating in the research study. In
particularly, scholar set out that how expect other and behave in properly (Towers, Abushaikha
and Holter, 2019). There are some common ethical issues such as misleading data or
information, insufficient knowledge about topic, Abusing language and so on. In this way, it
directly affects on the overall cost of project where increases budget. It can be assumed the
important point into ethical considerations:
 It should respect to the dignity of research participate members.
 The Different type of communication are developing a strong relationship between
different participants.
Research design: It is based on the specific set of procedures and technique that mainly used
to collect large information. It can be measured the different variables which help for resolving
problem and issues in research (Purdon and Thornton, 2019). There are two different type such
as: conclusive and exploratory.
The scholar has chosen exploratory research design approach which intended to identify
problem and then conducting exploratory to resolve issues. This type of design approach useful
for scholar where they can explore the research questions.

Research approaches: It refers procedures and plan that mainly consists different steps
based on the assumptions (VanKooten, 2019). This approach is considered the nature of research
where scholar addressed the problem and issues, while finding the solution. The research
approach can be categorised into three groups: Deductive, inductive and abductive approach.
The scholar has chosen inductive approach that start with the existing notes, observation
and different theories which may proposed to further expansion. In qualitative method, it is
important to choose the inductive approach because it is based on the explanation where scholar
analyse actual relevant information related research project.
Sampling: it is a type of principle that choose the member in research study purpose (Creech
and Darlison, 2019). It can be divided large number of populations. Researcher has chosen
suitable members that perform different technique to collect information about the topic from
authenticate sources. The sample size is 20. The researcher has chosen simple random method.
Accessibility: The research has chosen qualitative method so that researcher may refers to
obtain the answer by using different authenticate source (Creech and Darlison, 2019). It reliable
for communicate with different participate members to identify the overall cost, resources and
equipment’s. on the other hand, scholar has used the technology tool to interact with more people
and determine answer of research questions. In this way, researcher adopt the tactics and used
different approaches in the research project expansion.

It is basically inspecting, transforming and inspecting the date or information with goal of
discovered the relevant theories for helping in decision-making.

As above table, it has been discussed the workplace equality and diversity within
organization so that every respondent shares their experience and view point about the concept.
In this way, it can be determined that 8 respondents strongly disagree, 5 neither, 4 strongly agree
and 3 respondents agree out of 20 answerers. From the statement it is very clear that there is no
need for the equality and diversity in organization because it is not having any influence on the
performance of the workers in the organization. The employees of the firm are not being affected
which means that the functioning of the business will take place as it was before and the
productivity of the organization remains the same with no difference.

As above table, it can be understood that the employees are not having any influence
because of workplace equality in achieving the goals and objectives of the business. The
responding scale for this theme has been that out of 20, there are 6 respondents who have
strongly disagreed, 4 have said neither, 5 have responded strongly agree and 5 have responded as
agree. Hence, the need of equality in the organization is not so important for achieving the
objectives and goals in the industry. The functions of the organization will go on if the individual
is feeling who so ever about the situation therefore the performance will not get affected because
of the employees and the equality factor in the business. There were 20 people asked to respond
but neither of them accepted this factor that the performance will get affected because of the
equality factor and it is very important for the objectives and aims of the business to be met no
matter what is going on in the organization.

From the above table, it can be understood that the policies and procedures are
discouraging the gender discrimination which are taking place in the organization. There are a lot
of discrimination which have taken place in the past because of gender but it is due to the
policies and procedures hat they have reduced and the productivity of the organization has gotten
better because the results of the respondents are as follows out of 20 people 3 strongly disagreed.
5 said neither, 10 strongly agreed and 2 agreed to this factor. Discrimination would demotivate
the employees and the efficiency of the workers will reduce and to not let that happen it is very
important for the organization to have policies which make the balance in the organization.

As per the above table, it can be interpreted that the organization has not provided the
employees with the right training. Training is a very important factor for the productivity and
efficiency in the organization. There are objectives and standards which the employees have to
meet and till they do not have the right training till then the organization will not be able to either
meet their objectives on time or have a good quality of work. As per the 20 respondents, 8 have
said they strongly disagree with this statement. 2 have said neither, 8 have strongly agreed and 2
have agreed to this statement. The organization will have to provide the employees with the right
training so that the business will be able to expect something good out of them in return. It is
very important for the functioning of the firm. Skills and experience have to be shared while the
training so that the same problems do not come in front of organization.

Data Interpretation:
As the above table, the Punto car employees are not having any personal life at the
workplace. Employees have to get some personal time during the work hours so that they can
relax and then focus better again but there is no personal time for the employees according to the
result. Out of 20 people there are 7 people who strongly disagree, 4 are saying neither, 5 are at
strongly agreement and 4 agreeing to it. Employees should get a little personal time at the work
place as well because that will make them improve the efficiency of the employees. It is very

important that the company works upon the efficiency of the workers because that will make the
organization achieve their objectives and goals even better than before.
P5 Summary
From the themes above, can be concluded that there are a lot of factors which are
influencing the efficiency of the organization. Equality and diversification is not having any role
to play in the performance of the employees in the firm and it is very important for the industry
that the performance of the employees are not affected in any manner. Due to the policies and
procedures in the business there are no discriminations which are taking place in the business
which is a great advantage for the business. Discrimination can lead to conflicts in the
organization which will lead to inefficient working of the firm. Training is another important
factor which the employees must get but according to the results of the respondent the employees
are not getting enough training which is very important if the organization wants to maintain
their standards in the market.
Employees must get some personal time as well in the workplace so that they can focus
on themselves and the firm which is very important. If the employees keeps working for the
betterment of the organization and not focus on their personal life then that will bring
unsatisfactory in job in them, and they can leave the firm. The organizations are still reaching the
objectives and goals they have set which is that the equality or diversification is not making too
much difference in the workplace. The survey says that the company is not being able to meet
the needs and demands of the personal life of the employees, they are not being provided with
the right training. Only positive factor which can be seen in the organization is that they are
providing the policies and procedures properly, and they are being followed so that there is no
discrimination in the organization which is taking place.
P6 Reflection on the effectiveness of research
On the basis of above conducted research, I can say that it has increased my knowledge
to the great extent. From the literature part and different authors view, I learned the importance
of workplace diversity as how it can make beneficial to company and its all employees. I also
learned the way of conducting research in a sequence and increasing importance of data
collection and it’s both types. By conducting research on the topic of workplace diversity, I faced
several problems and with the help of passion and problem-solving skills I came to know that
what is the importance of problem-solving skills. Gathering data with the help of questionnaire is

not an easy task as we have to follow codes of ethics and ethical consideration is the key of the
success of research. With the help of following ethics, an individual can make an effective and
qualitative research. In the data analysis and collection process, communication skills play a vital
role as it helps a researcher in influencing participants and gathering reliable data in order to
accomplish pre-determined objectives.
I also came to know the importance of developing aims and objectives before starting
research as it works as guideline for which research is being developed and all activities are
performed. All steps plays an important role which should be followed in a sequence as it helps
in maintaining quality and reliability of research.
P7 Consideration of research methodology alternative and lesson which have learnt in the
respected outcomes.
Research methodology has been considered as the important aspects in developing the research
in more efficient and significant way in order to have development of effective outcome. There is
significant as the effective research methodology will help in having solution of various
problems at operational and planning level. This has the efficient level of involvements over the
cause and effect relationship between various variables in order to have identification of
behavior attainment and trends which are available with alternative. As on the basis of
alternatives there can be use of the quantitative research which is termed to be a systematic
investigation of phenomena in more way to have the proper level of gathering in term of
quantifiable data in more way by performing the statistical and computational techniques in more
way. The using of quantitative research methods will have the measurable data which can be
easy to be formulates and have uncovering of the pattern which is been used in applicability of
research.
The alternative research will have more level of authentication as the data collection
method will be done with the help of survey such as online surveys, paper surveys, mobile
surveys and kiosk surveys, face-to-face interviews, telephone interviews, longitudinal studies,
website interceptors, online polls, and systematic observations. It has also helped in analysing
appropriate research methods as the study have reflection on the effectiveness of research
methods that can have be applied to meet objectives.
As from the former one that is qualitative research is turned out to be very time and cost
costuming which is more considered to be very effective in developing the research. On the other

if quantitative research method have been selected for considerateness of this particular research
then their time will be less consumed and more authentication in term of result can be
maintained. The cost of the research can also be reduced as the chosen method is more having
the considerations with labor intensive one and have the measurement in order to have
investigation of quality. The existence of qualitative research is all about collecting data by
observing human behaviors and attitudes or collecting non-numerical data whereas the
quantitative research will have the application of certain software which will have well manner
authentication over result determination.
CONCLUSION
From the above part it can be concluded that Workplace equality is one of the most
important part for the development of the organisation is a effective way. The company should
have the development of certain rules and regulations that needs to be implemented in company
in order to promote equality at workplace. It can be concluded that the organization ho have the
lacks of workplace discriminate have the positive impacts increasing productivity and
operational efficiency. This also have the increase firm goodwill along with employee loyalty
towards developing accompany vision and mission in more effective and developing way. On the
other hand, it has been also concluded as Workplace discrimination reduces employee’s
efficiency which can lay negative impact on profitably f firm developmental and lacking
competitive share from the market.
