1ETHICS AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICES AND ITS ANALYSIS
Executive Summary
Ethics is a parameter which defines the fine line between right and wrong. Some of these
intellectual properties are incorporated within an individual and some of it comes with practice.
The workplace is the main destination where our ethical skill set comes into play. The code of
ethics is a set of ethical guidelines that one should follow as long as they are associated with the
workplace. The aim of this report is to analyse an unethical experiment performed by a British
political consulting firm over a social networking site. The report concludes with the fact that
there are companies that indulge themselves into illegal and unethical experiments, but the main
role is certainly played by the billionaires and the political leaders who use these platforms to
achieve their interest.

3ETHICS AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICES AND ITS ANALYSIS
INTRODUCTION
Ethics is the basic parameter of the goodness that an individual should follow in order to
maintain a healthy balance between the individual and the society in terms of the duties the
individual performs (Pasztor 2015). It defines the duties that an individual owes to the people
and society. The ability to judge the right and wrong is the primary line, which differentiates
basic intelligence with ethical values. A part of it comes from within and part of it is acquired
with time due to the exposure to the society and people. The primary application of the ethical
values comes into play while being in the workplace. It is important because any unjust activity
can lead to sufferings to any side of the transaction and the ones associated with it. There are
certain guidelines, which are prefixed on a general basis, and it is considered mandatory for all
the organisations to follow. Any violation would land the organisation into legal troubles, often
leading to the banishment of the organisation from the market forbidding it to participate later in
the market ever. Performing these in the workplace leads to the term Professional Practices. This
report will mainly focus in the background study of a company regarding its unethical operations
and followed by the analysis of the total situation by “Doing Ethics Technique” and an analysis
from an ICT professional viewpoint with the usage of ACS code of ethics ending with the
conclusions based on the analyses and recommendations in order to avoid such instances ever in
any organisation. The organisation that is taken under consideration for the report is Cambridge
Analytica.
