5.1 Explain how evidence based practice can be used to support children and
young people experiencing transitions
With increasing need of better development of a child, evidence practices especially in
medical centres and child-care institutions, are implemented for people welfare. These practices
involve activities such as identifying, assessing as well as implementing the assessment
strategies which give support to children and young ones for better growth and development,
who are experiencing transitions (Briggs, 2019). For this purpose, child welfare agencies at state
level are increasingly emphasise on child’s need for development. They focus mainly on
resources which are essential to run assessment programs that have validated the results. It
includes achievement of outcomes that are measured in terms of Federal Child as well as Family
Services Review process. Along with this, various state legislators are demanded to get prior
information about how much fund is required for a program which is employed as per evidence-
based program models. For example – Children especially of age 1 to 4 years, who are exposed
to domestic violence are facing a number of mental issues, that affects majorly on their proper
child development. For this purpose, through implementation of evidence based practices like
Pediatric Health Settings, Early Childhood Programs, Family Support and more, can help in
changing and providing the proper environment to kids for physical and mental growth. But
before running such programs for early development, prior information need to be collected first,
so that effective evidence-based policy can be framed. Pediatric care is required to promote for
diagnosing and treating the illness in children and infants, where preventive care not only
provide benefits to children having mental issues due to exposure of domestic violence, but also
their family members. Pediatrics is also concerned with entire spectrum of child's development,
in terms of physical, mental, emotional and social growth. Similarly, early childhood programs
also help in dealing with aggressive mood of child who are facing trauma, by engaging them in
education. It also help in developing social and emotional learning abilities under children, to
prepare them for their transition into primary and elementary school.
Here, the lack of availability of any evidence related to child welfare practices on a certain
basis, is taken as barrier for wide spreading implementation of assessment programs (Akinola
and Dunkley, 2019). Along with this, agencies and practitioners also require to weigh
consistency with the culture and values of targeted community while developing assessment
programs. In this regard, involving stakeholders within child-care program development, with
