Introduction
Network of a company should maintain strong hierarchy for data management. An
organization has used data centers to organize, store, process, and disseminate large amount of
data for business (Medhi & Ramasamy, 2017). In this report, different network management
functions will describe in the later sections. As a network consultant, I will provide different
necessary steps for data centers setup for IDEAPintar.
Overview of the local data centre
Data centres are highly used in the everyday operations. It is a critical information asset
of an organization. Business processes are depends on the data. Therefore, they highly rely upon
the application, services, and storage. Data center is a facility that has composed by network
computers and large data storage (Cowley, 2012). A data centre is having much IT equipment,
such as routers, servers, firewalls, networking switches, and storage subsystems (Certiology,
2018). Infrastructures of data centers are adequate infrastructures. It includes proper power
distribution as well as supplemental power system for avoiding faults in different services
( Rouse, FCAPS (fault-management, configuration, accounting, performance, and security),
2007). It is having different things, such as electrical switching, backup generators, and
uninterrupted power supplies for data centers. They are having proper ventilation as well as air
conditioners. Data centers are also requires physical security, and proper physical space to secure
different networking equipment ( Rouse, data center, 2017).

Most of the organizations have elected to use data centers facility and services to disaster
recovery because of environment and any other reason. Data centers are part of the disaster
recovery plan for most of the organization. Therefore, they can make a replica of their IT
systems in a backup system, which is far from main system ( Moore , 2013).
Description about the FCAPS framework
International Organization for standardization (ISO) has created FCAPS framework for
network management. It has categorized in network management into different five levels, which
are as:
(F) - Fault-management
(C) - the Configuration level
(A) - The accounting level
(P) -The performance level
(S) -The security level
In Fault management level, network issues have found with reason and it will correct as
soon as possible. Network manager can take different action to prevent that issue and make
proper arrangement to reduce that problem from the network (Network engineer, 2018).
In configuration management level, all the operation in the network are controlled and
monitored through hardware and software including new equipment and programs. In this level,
equipment and programs has updated at regular basis for more security and proper working
(Mitchell, 2018).
At the accounting management level, system provides resources among network
subscribers as per their requirements and their subscription for services in an allocation level. It
is used for optimize available resources and minimizing the cost of operations (Forouzan, 2007).
Performance management level has created to manage the complete performance of the
network. It has used different concepts for maximized throughput of network as well as avoided
bottlenecks. It identified potential problems of the network and resolves them as soon as possible
(Gapiński, 2014).

In security management level, different authentications, and access levels has created to
protect system against unauthorized users, hacker, and many others. It provided confidentiality
of user data through many security approaches. Network administrators can control and monitor
individual authorized users in the system (Kenneth C. Mansfield & Antonakos, 2009).
Fault management
Faults have occurred in the system and they have some solution based on the network
theory and different approaches. Technologies and network designs may change according to
time. Thus, new faults and issues were occurring in the system because of some loophole in the
system. Network has different kinds of faults. However, it is not easy to identify faults in the
system as well as correct them for proper working of the system. In present era, fault
management is more difficult in the data centers and cloud networks. Client-server system has
changed into cloud technology and data centers, but fault are still in the system (Medhi &
Ramasamy, 2017).
Detailed description about fault management
Applications of data centers are facing load-balancing issues in public and private data.
Different applications are uses network bandwidth for sharing data and it is affect performance
of the network ( Schilling , 2017).
Performance of the system is depending on the network connectivity type, such as
Ethernet and Wi-Fi. IDEAPintar is having different types of network to connect many
departments. They have LAN and WAN technology for managing different operations of the
company. Mixing of different topologies creates faults in the system, such as multiple virtual
LANs (Jacobs, 2016).

Sharing of data between data centers and clients is requiring network components.
Network components and links create faults in the system. However, network device is
extremely reliable for those operations. Fault is also occurring because of addition and
upgradation of new hardware and software in the system regularly. Data centers are having many
equipment as well as vendors. Therefore, one component can affect other component services
(Subashini & Kavitha, 2011).

For managing faults in the network, data centers are uses software. They must maintain
an accurate report of the network. That software will provide every detail of updated
components, network mapping, and added and remove equipment in the complete system. For
avoiding unnecessary faults, they can manage system through network operating policies, such
as Service Level Agreement (SLA) for applications has added in the system (Techdonut, 2018).
Those softwares are helpful for finding root cause of the fault. Software Defined
Networking (SDN) changes the scenario of network management. It has a potential to handle
network problems though traditional techniques. SDN has controller to manage different things
of the network. It uses Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) and spanning tree protocols for
management of different network devices (Tanenbaum, 2014).

mobility point of view, but it creates issues related to the security vulnerabilities (So, 2011).
Activities under fault management using the local data centre:
There are many faults occur in the network of local data centre. In case of IDEAPintar,
there are few faults may occurred because of some changes in devices, programs, and
environment.
If system creates an alert than, such as ERROR: SNMPTRAP. This problem creates
because of temperature issue in the system. In that case, a fixed solution has provided by fault
management system, which is shutdown the router (Kenneth C. Mansfield & Antonakos, 2009).
IDEAPintar is a renewed IT consultancy company in Malaysia. It has many data of
different business processes. Therefore, it can face traffic problem in some networking devices.
However, there is always alternative to manage the traffic, but it is necessary to handle traffic in
less time. It will affect whole system and creates different issues in the system.
Fault can occur because of malfunctions in the network, such as viruses and Trojans.
Attackers are uses different types of hacking methods to hack the entire system for different
purposes, sometimes they asked for ransom. Hence, system is always having updated with latest
definitions of malfunctions (Sunshine, 2013).
