Professional Field Experience in the Food Industry: Challenges and Lessons Learned_1
Working in a food industry is not easy since its ever busy.
Someone is not only subjected to minimum remuneration, but
also get terrible smell and clients who are difficult to deal with.
Maryland is a one challenging firm to work with. Contrary to
common belief, working at Maryland does not mean one is
desperate or educationally incompetent.
A lot of my great, cool, high attaining friends worked at
cafeterias during their university years. The manager claimed to
be fanciful, full of development prospects and good
remunerations (Dhar and Baylis, 2011, p. 805)
However, strike is something that makes everything go astray
since workers do not come to an agreement at times
Professional Field Experience in the Food Industry: Challenges and Lessons Learned_2
Many were the times, they announced for strike, which was
done many times in a row. In the first place, the firm’s past,
was very fruitful until strikes stopped its progress.
Workers would be given little pay rise, with workers aged
over 23 being paid between $10-15per hour. Newer workers
are also supposed to be given a little increment (Schlosser,
2012 p. 45)
It might not sound like much of a rise from the $10 minimum
remuneration, but according to several workers working at
Maryland, it is not easy surviving with $10 salary. One need
about $15 a day in order to meet all the daily expenses.
