Different approaches to CSR of Micro, SME and Corporate Business are their approaches
similar? Are there difference and how can you measure success in their CSR strategies?
In present time, corporate social responsibility can be considered as self regulation that an
organisation develops, which helps the company in taking initiatives towards societal goals that
are directly linked with different factors like activist, charity, philanthropic nature and so on.
Basically, this type of ethical practices supports the society, as many of the economists thinks
that every single company has the responsibility to improve the living standards of the society
through contributing in different ways, which could be anything from selling books to school and
so on. Including this, it is said that there are number of CSR practices which mainly affects
different areas and these are society, environment and economic condition of a business
company (Jeston, 2014). Away with this, it is also said that considering the CSR Activities a
firm, whether it is small or large in nature may effectively develop effective bond with society,
employees, investors and so on.
On the other hand, if it is talked about Approaches to CSR then minimalist, philanthropic,
encompassing and social activist are some of the crucial ones, that are being taken into
consideration depending on their sizes like Micro, SME, corporate business and so on.
Moreover, it is also said for every single company if it is performing in a market, then it has to
brought new concepts or develop effective CSR activities so that right amount of help can be
done among different social areas (Kao and et. al., 2016). With the help of this, firm could
effectively enhance it's goodwill, brand value, develop of interest of investors towards future
goals and objectives and so on. If it is analysed, then International Organisation For
Standardization (ISO) has become able to develop number of standards in relation to helping
organisation to implement CSR in their business. Including this, it is also said that ISO has also
given number of guidelines as well as principle that has taken into consideration, because many
of the steps that are being considered needs appropriate plan, which needs right amount of
money so that implementation could take place (Kryvinska, 2012). Here, it is said that CSR is
regarded as great way in raising morale of investors, so that they could effectively develop their
reliability on the company. The different approaches to CSR that can be applied or being
considered by companies that are coming under different sections like Micro, SME and
Corporate Business then all of these are presented underneath:
CSR of Micro
Document Page
Minimalist is said to be one of the crucial CRS approach, which is majorly being
followed by business organisations that are coming within the Micro business sector. Over the
years, if it is talked about United Kingdom's business economy then micro companies are
specifically being referred to the small organisations that are holding assets value less than
£191800.00 per annum & do not has more than five staff members. This type of approach is
specifically performed to take support from the stakeholders or to support them, where concern
mainly stays related to company only like HR related and so on. Here, company like Rowlinson
Knitwear, which is a small business institution that mainly deals in clothing business sector of
United Kingdom and manufactures different things like uniform for colleges, schools and for
different institutional people as well (Means, 2014). Including this, it is also said that company
has taken responsibility of providing some free uniform to vulnerable so that they could attend
classes, and live their day to day life in an appropriate way.
CSR of SME
Philanthropic and Encompassing are said to be the two basic approaches to CSR, that are
being followed by business companies that are coming within small and medium sized business
industry. Basically, these are said to be the crucial staff members, which may only has 250
number of employees (Palepu and Healy, 2013). These business firms mainly develops project
specific CSR activities and helps the society to raise it's own standard. Through this, goodwill
along with the values may effectively be improvised in specified time frame. This could be
understood with a good example of Guildford Tyre, which is particularly being considered as a
company that manufactures tyres for different range of vehicles. This is where, company has aid
to create the environment healthy through developing eco-friendly products and through planting
trees among different areas. This has helped firm in enhancing the performance level in specified
time frame.
CSR of Corporate Business
Social Activist is being considered as one of the crucial approach to CSR, which mainly
business organisations dealing at international level and are large in size as well. Here, it is said
that business is a catalyst for a change. Through this, maximum benefits could easily be gained
by company as, this became essential for them to perform CSR activities, so that to promote
living standards among vulnerable and so on. This could effectively be understood with a good

Henceforth, it can clearly be said that all the approaches to CSR that these companies has
followed among different business sizes like micro, SME and corporate business are said to be
different from each other (Regev and et. al., 2013). These are mainly carrying various differences
from having a different aim to an objective as well.
Part 2: Reflective Report on Key Skills Development
While doing this assignment, I was very confident and planned about how this task will
be executed. This assignment helped me in analysing the various CSR strategies that build
reputation of the company. I used various articles and secondary data available on internet for
completing this assignment. I have good communication skills and thus, it was easy for me to
give good presentation in classroom. When I was doing this assignment, I developed various
employability skills that help me in getting a good job position in organisation. Time
management is one of the most effective skills that I have developed. This skill will help me in
enhancing business strategy planning. This is an important and effective skill of employability
that I have developed. Also I developed how to work in teams and get better results. Within a
workplace, teamwork is proportional to the importance related to the affiliations. I took help of
my different classmates and teachers in completing this assignment. VARK model and Belbin
model are used for analysing my personal as well as professional skills. The learning styles are
defined as different learning approaches and the way of living. These are known as set of factors,
attitudes and behaviours which facilitate learning for the individuals. As each and every
individual is different in terms of learning preference, cognitive styles, aptitudes, personality
types, attitude towards learning, etc (Schüz, 2012). The acronym for the work VARK is visual,
aural, read/write and kinesthetic sensory modalities which are used for learning information. My
analysis on the basis of this model is explained below -
Visual – This includes usage of various pictorial information while doing the project. I
analysed some graphs, charts, statistics, labelled diagrams, statistical data as it will help to know
what are the importance that CSR has for success of the company. I have used the pictures
effectively in assignment.
Aural/Auditory – According to this perceptual mode, a preference for information is
heard or spoken. I have good listening skills and all the information and data provided by the

teachers, I heard it carefully and done this assignment accordingly. This has helped in making a
good presentation of my work.
Read/Write – This is basically displaying of words. I have made a well organised report
on sustainable CSR within the organisation. My report is reflection of all the hard work I have
done for this assignment (Zhu and Liu, 2014). I have written this report in effective manner and
I have added all relevant information in this assignment.
Kinesthetic – This modality is defined as perceptual preference which is associated with
the use of experience and practise. This includes case studies, practise, simulation,
demonstrations, etc. It is for me to include videos and case studies in the assignment that makes
report more effective.
I will rate myself high in all perspectives of VARK model as my report and presentation is very
good. My expectations were fulfilled by doing this assignment. I have worked hard to make this
assignment good and relevant.
The Gibbs model is reflection is helpful in analysing the skills and abilities of an
individual. This reflection cycle is helpful for knowing what are the skills needed for doing the
activities of assignment perfectly. The Gibbs model of reflective cycle helped me to evaluate my
work in effective manner. The Gibbs cycle id mots interpreted and misinterpreted sometimes.
The several stages that I analysed are shown in the following diagram.
Document Page
The Gibb's reflective cycle stages are mentioned below. This cycle was developed by
Graham Gibbs. It is important for me to analyse skills and abilities so that I can work well in
future. I can effectively work within workplace if I am capable of managing different tasks and
business activities. The Gibbs reflective stages are mentioned below -
Feelings – As per this step, I developed various feelings while doing this assignment.
This project was basically on corporate social responsibilities that a company possess. It is very
important for the organisations to do some benefit for society. It is helpful in managing
company's reputation. There were many situations that left me demotivated. I was not able to
handle some situations while working on this assignment. I was motivated for doing well in this
assignment and providing relevant information about the CSR activities within the business. I
worked hard for collecting information used in this assignment as it is my responsibility for
doing the assignment effectively.
Evaluation – when I did this assignment, I was sure that all information is analysed
effectively in this report. For making my work more better, I evaluated my work twice for
assuring that data used in this report is authentic and relevant. At the initial stage, I was not
confident about doing this project but after sometime I motivated myself for completing this
assignment effectively. My enthusiasm and confidence helped me in competing this assignment
effectively. I chose the best data for making this assignment more authentic and relevant. I got
to know that this project was done appropriately. I developed various employability skills while
doing this assignment.
Analysis – According to this step, I analysed my work effectively so that it is ensured that
I have done m6y work in appropriate manner. I have developed skills and abilities while doing
the assignment. My communication as well as analytical skills have developed while making this
report. In the starting level, my work was not very easy and thus I divided my work into chunks.
This helped me to do my work effectively without any problems.
Conclusion – This is the conclusion step and in this I have made results on the selected
topic of the assignment. My conclusion was that each and every company must contribute in the

CSR activity as this help in developing society as well as individuals. I have made conclusions
on the basis of each task that was given to me.
Action Plan – My planning for the given report was effective and strong. I have divided
my work into smaller tasks. This gave me enough time to analyse that all work is done
appropriately. In the action plan, all relevant statistics and data that I have collected is presented
in report effectively. There are various strategies and plans that a company uses for developing
CSR activities. This is very important for the company as it helps in growth and sustainability of
the company.
CONCLUSION
Considering the above mentioned report, it is being concluded that for a company
whether it is performing at small or large level, it is much needed to support the society so that
effectively all the goals and objectives could easily be attained in given time frame. On the other
hand, it is also summarised that for a business firm it is required to build effective
communication system within the company as this would directly lead firm and it's employees to
get proper knowledge about the whole scenario and perform number of activities focusing upon
high quality. With the help of this, different objectives along with the goals would easily be
attained in specified time frame. On the other hand, it is also much needed for a business firm to
keep on bringing new concepts in relation to CSR activities where main focus would remain over
uplifting the living and other standards of the society. Through this, company may become able
to gain competitive advantages as it will directly develop interest of consumers, investors and so
on.
There are various kinds of association and likewise they have to direct CSR exercises for
the general public as through which they can utilize it as a progression measure method.
Including this, there are a few methodologies or plans which a speciality unit can embrace so as
to work their tasks just as capacities in moral and manageable way. Alongside this, an individual
additionally needs to assess their aptitudes, capacities and information with the goal that they can
comprehend their qualities just as shortcomings and they in like manner they can embrace
various models. There are a few speculations and model which can an individual may embrace,
for example, Gibbs reflective learning model which help an individual in improving their
aptitudes by confronting different number of tasks and so on.
