INTRODUCTIONHuman resource which is the most important part in an organisation because with thehelp of this, firm is able to achieve its desired result or outcome. If there will not be properstaffing then business operation can not be carried out effectively and efficiently which willcreate disturbance in its activities (Barney, Ketchen and Wright, 2011). For managingemployees, there is requirement of a management which will be known as human resourcemanagement. It has main responsibility to hire and develop the personality of staff so that theywill become valuable asset for the company and will provide various benefits to the firm. Insimple terms, it can be said that human resource management is a process which focuses onrecruitment, selection, training and development of employees so that they will drive thecompany towards the way of success. This assignment is based on Apple INC. which is anAmerican multinational technology company that designs, develops and sells consumerelectronics, software and online services. This assignment will state about various purpose andfunctions of HRM as well as different recruitment and selection approaches that need to befollowed by company while hiring employees. This report will also state about HRM practisesfor employer and employee as well as various employment legislations that affect HRM decisionmaking process. TASK 1P1 Purpose and functions of HRM applicable to workforceHuman resource management is the most important section in a company which helps inmanaging employees effectively and efficiently. If it will not be presented at workplace then noone will perform as per specified standards (Batt and Colvin, 2011). This department has toperform various functions like recruitment, selection and various other tasks which are describedbelow- Planning- It is the most important function which need to be fulfilled timely andeffectively so that no problem can be occurred at workplace and operation can be runeffectively and smoothly. In this task, HRM has to identify current and futurerequirement of employees so that business operation can not be stopped and companycan reach to its decided destination within stipulated period of time. 1

Staffing- As per requirement, it is the duty of HR manager to hire employees so thatoperation can be run smoothly and effectively and Apple INC. can reach to its decideddestination within stipulated period of time. Development of human resource- If there is any new joining then in this situation,manager of Apple Inc. has responsibility to conduct training programme for them so thatthey will become familiar from working culture and will become able to perform theirjob as per specified standards (Bolman and Deal, 2017). It can also be provided to theexisting employees for making them more efficient and capable so that they willcontribute in the success of company. Employee relation- It is a very important responsibility of HRM in which it has tomaintain healthy relation between employer and employees so that business operationcan not be interrupted and organisation can reach to its decided destination. If there willbe conflicts or disputes then it will generate negative environment which will demoralizethe employees and then no one will perform as per standards.Compensation and reward- HRM should ensure that every employee is getting fairsalary. If they will not get compensation as per their work then it will demotivate to themthen they will not be able to perform effectively and efficiently. So manager shouldprovide salary to the workers as per their capability and job. Purpose of HRM- This department is exist in every company because of the followingpurpose that are given below- For attracting new candidates towards company as well as for improving the efficiencyand capability of workers. For increasing the effectiveness of overall firm by providing skilled and competentworkforce (Bröckermann, 2012).To utilize available resources effectively and efficiently so that maximum output can beobtained from them. To increase the satisfaction level of employees so that they will become loyal towardstheir job and will give their 100% in the success of firm.It also ensures that company is following all rules and regulations that assist inmaintaining ethical code of practise within and outside the premise of firm. 2
