Functional areas of a business are referred to those departments of a company which
helps a company to achieve its organisational objectives (Alpar and Schulz, 2016). The
following report is based on Autins Group PLC, which is an automotive organisation situated in
West Midlands, United Kingdom (SEARCH 1000 COMPANIES UK – 2018, 2019). The report
effectively covers a detailed description on the functional areas of the company along with
description of its hierarchy of management. Along with this, the respective report will also
include reasons why communication is essential for a leader and manger and different drivers of
globalisation with its impact on business. This assignment will also include comparison between
two leadership theory for identify which one is more appropriate or effective.
MAIN BODY

Functional Areas of Autins Group Plc:-
There are several functional areas within Autins Group Plc that are responsible for
carrying our different functions for an organisation. The respective company was founded in
1966 in Rugby, Warwickshire. It is one of the most prominent auto mobile manufacturing
companies and focuses on innovation within their offerings (The Autins Group, 2019). Within
the firm, these areas hold effective position in the smooth and consistent working of the
company. The functional areas of Autins Group Plc are described below:
 Marketing:
This functional area within Autins is responsible for appropriately market its products
and services out in the public (Functional Areas of a Business, 2019). Furthermore, it is also
responsible for appropriately setting up a two way communication channel within the customers
to anticipate their preferences and wants to help the firm develop their offerings which could
satisfy the same.
 Finance:
As for this functional area, it is responsible to handle all the monetary operations within
the company. It regulates the flow of money within and outside the company and provides the
same for development, marketing as well as distribution of their products (Charter, 2017).
 Research and Development:

The R&D Department of Autins Group Plc is that functional area of the firm which is
responsible for carrying out market research for the company and ensure proper and effective
development of its products using the latest as well as most advanced and safe technology.
Each of these functional areas is required to work with the other departments and
interconnect in order to collectively carry out each function of Autins Group Plc and ensure
timely and effective accomplishment of its goals.
Hierarchy Management of Amazon:-
Hierarchy management refers to structure followed by a company in order to develop
decision in effective manner so that other staff conduct work effectively and appropriately.
Hierarchy Management is an essential exercise followed by Amazon is given below and this
management of the company is segregated into three main categories described below: Top Management: This category includes top level managers who are the leaders of the
company. Furthermore, these entities hold the decision making power within the
company. In respective company top management is Jeff Bezos who is Chief Executive
offer of Amazon. He take all the decision which help respective company employees in
conducting their activities in effective manner. Middle Management: This level consists of entities like General Managers and Regional
Managers who manage all the operations within the firm and supervise all departments.
Furthermore, they use techniques like Delegation as well as supervision to manage all the
task and ensure maximum performance. In respective company middle management are
various departments such as SVP and corporate development department,, technical
advisor, international retail department, HR department and many more (Amazon

 First Line Management: This hierarchy consists of supervisors, team leaders as well as
Office Managers, who are in direct contact with the lower level workers and ensure that
work performed by them are of effective and top quality standard (Burns and Dewhurst,
2016). Along with this in Amazon the respective department are web service provider
department and general counsel department.

understand its requirements. Through effective communication a leader as well as manager able
to know its staffs and their abilities by which they assign them work accordingly and develop
strategies properly (Burns and Dewhurst, 2016). If there is proper communication at a workplace
it will also reduce conflict situation because everyone know each other and their behaviours.
There are various types of communication within the workplace but a firm mainly adopt two
from it i.e. internal communication and external communication (Types of Communication in
Organization, 2019). It is necessary for a company to develop both the type of communication in
order to maintain effective working environment.
Internal communication: It refers to communication method in which the transmissions of
informations are conducted among an organizational and its employees or with member who are
parts of an organization. This method is generally takes place at all levels of a company and its
units. It is essential for a leader and manger of a company to develop effective internal
communication because through it they able to motivate their employees and encourage them to
conduct work in effective manner. That will directly as well as indirectly help them in attaining
their goal and target properly.

External Communication: It refers to a method of communication in which transmission of
message or information done between a business unit and another individual or unit which is
external for a company (Shenkar, Luo and Chi, 2014). Through this company manger and leader
able to communicate with its potential customers in order to fulfil their need and demand. Along
with this, it is also essential for a company manager and leader to develop proper external
communication because through it they able to understand their customer and know their need.
This will help company manager in developing products and services accordingly.
By developing and maintaining effective internal and external communication Autins
Group Plc able to motivate and retain their employees and encourage them to conduct work
properly so that they attain target successfully. Along with this, they also able to attract
customers and retain them for a long time duration.

peoples, companies as well as country at worldwide level for enhancing enterprise along with
economic system. Here a driver refers to a factor which contributes to changes and that will also
leads to growth of business operations. It also include various driving force which consider as
reason of globalisation as well as encourage the organization in order to adopt globalisation that
help in enhancing its profitability ratio and shares of market. There are several globalisation
drivers which are mentioned below with their impact on activities of a company:-
 Technological Drivers: It refers to a factor which makes life of peoples easy by
introducing new and innovative technology (What are the drivers of globalization?.
2019). An individual also able to conduct its work or task in effective way and in
minimum time. This will help an organization in attaining goal and target appropriately
which leads to increment in profit ratio, level of production, work quality, shares of
market enhancement. Along with this it also motivate employees because their works get
completed effectively and easily with minimum or no damage. The respective factors will
directly as well as indirectly impact on Autins Group Plc in various ways. Such as now
they are able to conduct their work properly, it will increase its production, grow
profitability and many more.
 Political Drivers: This will describe as legislation or regulation as well as standard
which is adopted by a firm for conducting its operation function effectively and

appropriately. Through this a firm management also able to create plan of action and pans
on the basis of legal practices by which they conduct all activities legally (Drivers &

driver it will impact on their business because through this they able to conduct their
whole activities in legal manner that leads to attracting more and more investors as well
as clients. This will also help Autins Group Plc to conduct or expand their business
operation and functions at international level in proper way.
 Market Drivers: If a company want to earn high profit they need to expand its business
at global market for which they need to design or create various strategy and policies. So
in respect of this respective driver provide or generate opportunities for a firm that they
expand its business at international level in appropriate and legal way (Andersson,
Forsgren and Holm, 2015). Along with this by adopting this a firm able to increase its
number of customer that helps them in increase more and more profit ratio along with
market shares. In respect of Autins Group Plc by drivers of market they able to increase
its business at other location that can be at national or international level. That will
directly increase their profit, market shares, customer’s base, brand image and name and
many more.
Above mentioned factors impact on business of Autins Group Plc in positive manner and
it also help them in enhancing their business at national and international market in appropriate
and legal manner. Through these drivers of globalization respective company able to increase its
business because they able to attract huge number of customer and encourage them to purchase
their products. Along with this, it wills also them in improving their process which directly leads
to increase in productivity and quality.

Leader and manager in a company plays an important role because they develop
appropriate strategies as well as plans which help a company in attaining their goal and objective
successfully. For this leader and manager both adopt various styles so that they take decision
properly by understanding each and every thing. A leadership style describes personality of
leader so that they able to direct, implement strategy as well as plan, and motivating staffs in
order to perform activities effectively. (Trkman, 2013). In respect of this, several authors have
introduced many varieties of leadership styles shown by a leader at diverse field such as political,

business or other fields. There are different types of leadership styles such as autocratic,
democratic, participative and so on. Each leadership style plays an important role in an
organization because through this leader able to understand situation and develop strategies
according which lead to enhancement in profitability ratio and market shares. There are major
two type of leadership style which is used within an organization i.e. transactional leadership
style and transformational leadership style.
 Transactional leadership style: It is describe as that type of leader that will generally
consider transaction of benefits as well as communicates along with their staffs or
subordinates which help them in understanding their need and requirement in better way
(Shenkar, Luo and Chi, 2014). Respective types of leaders consider that their team
members will be motivate by rewards as well as punishment. Along with this, in this style
of leadership staffs has to accomplish their activities that they get assigned because in this
function and duty of employees are already allotted. Group working in respective Style of
leadership are extremely controlled. There are several example of respective leadership
style which help respective company leaders to learn from them. Such as Bill Gates, he is
ambition, competitive and intelligence that help them in develop strategies which rise
them at the top (Bill Gate’s transactional leadership style. 2004).
 Transformational leadership style: It refers to the kind of leadership style in which
leader cares about their subordinates more and concerned about their needs. These
leaders engage their subordinates in decision making process so that it boost their
confidence and enhance their skills and knowledge. Along with this, employees under
such leaders is able to share their problems and trust their decision. Transformational
leaders are creative and innovative and encourage their workers to work harder and
smarter towards the achievement of organisational goals and objectives. If an
organisation consists of such leader then they are able to retain their talented and skilled
workforce. There are various transformational leader through which respective company
can learn things such as Steve Jobs (Transformational Leadership, 2019). He is a
innovative as well as creative person which motivate their employees in order to attain
goal.
By conducting evaluation of transactional leadership style as well as transformational
leadership style that will analysis that both styles of leadership which are important for an

organization because through it they able to control and monitor their team in proper and
effective manner (Mitchelmore and Rowley, 2013). So it can be advice that Autins Group Plc
will implacable transformational leadership style. This is so, because by this respective company
able to enhance its staffs capability as well as imperfection. Through which they able to conduct
its activities properly as well as effectively that leads to attaining of their goal and objective.
CONCLUSION
Thus, it is concluded that it is crucial for an organisation to appropriately analyse each of
their functional areas as per the activities performed by each of them. Furthermore, analysing
management of hierarchy provides an insight related to role and function of each organisational
unit. Along with this an organization also gets affected due to globalisation and this impact can
be in a positive as well as negative form. Along with this, it has different different action due to
which company needs to about globalization and it will also impact on business operation as well
as functions. In order to handle this leader use its leadership style and there is difference between
diverse leadership styles.
