INTRODUCTION
Leadership is defined as the ability of an individual or group to have an influence on
their followers in order to improve their performance. A leader is an individual which promotes
and motivated their team members to increase their productivity and achieve their personal and
professional goals. A positive leadership style is important to provide the employees with better
development opportunities. It is crucial for them to improve their contributions towards the
organizational aims and objectives and enhance their overall performance. The current report
will analyse the overview of leadership, its global perspective, contemporary leadership and
different ethical considerations.
LEADERSHIP OVERVIEW
a. Context as a leader, responsibilities, end goal
I have acted as a leader in my previous organization where I had a role of team leader
managing a group of employees. This role has been helpful for me to develop better
understanding of the leadership role and engage the employees towards the overall aims and
objectives of the organization. I had a responsibility to motivate them and measure their
performance in order to give relevant and appropriate feedbacks for their progress (Al-Malki, &
Juan, 2018). I was leading a bunch of new employees that has less experience in the industry and
were keen to gain knowledge for developing better practices. I was required to train them and
improve their understanding about the work that have to perform in the organizations and the
different aspects which are crucial for their overall development. The end goal was to improve
their skills and provide the organization with trained employees for enhancing its productivity
and gain better competitive advantage in the industry. This leadership role was effective in order

to increase my leadership and management skills which has provided me with a better idea to
develop opportunities in the work environment.
b. Own leadership style, personal characteristics
I have applied the transformational style of leadership for identifying the individual
strengths and weaknesses of the employees and providing them with a better approach to conduct
their work practices. I prepared appropriate strategies on the basis of my knowledge of these
candidates and set short term goals for them to achieve. This was beneficial for me to increase
their learning ability and develop their skills effectively (Daniëls, Hondeghem & Dochy, 2019).
The transformational leadership is related with my normal personality as I tend to always help
and support my peers who need the required assistance for growth. This leadership style has a
positive impact on the employees and was beneficial to motivate them by constant push and
support towards the organizational aims and objectives effectively. I have a supportive nature
towards people which has a major reason for adopting this leadership style.
c. Leadership style with different theories and concepts
The relationship theory of leadership explains the connections between a leader and the
followers which is helpful in achieving objectives effectively. Transformational leaders are
highly focused on the performance of their team members and provide them with consistent
support and motivation in order to develop an effective relation with them. This is helpful in
increasing their individual potential and achieving higher quality of output in their job role. This
theory provides a better understanding of the efforts which are put by transformational leaders to
enhance the outcome and produce an effective image of the business in the society. They follow
their moral values and treat the employees as peers which are to be take care of.
