INTRODUCTION
Events are most crucial for both society and economy because they improve the
experience with public. Events are defined as scheduled or unscheduled thing, place or something
which is required to be occurred (Patil, 2017). Global events are those which occur at international
level with aim of reaching to customers at wider scale. This report focuses on London Excel
Exhibition Centre as they hosts many international events. Main purpose of this report is to
understand the impact of global event in a environment. This report comprises of two tasks in
which h task A comprises of diversity of global events industry, factors affecting events industry
globally, legacy of global events, management strategies then in task B it includes positive /
negative aspects impact the global environment on global events and SWOT analysis.
TASK 1
P1 Analyse diversity of global events industry, including its structure and organisation and the role
of different types of events in society
The event industry in UK and globally is being considered as powerhouse which generates
high level of income and profit at higher scale (Vodenska, 2020). Diversity in event industry
especially at global level is enlarging with new categorised events. It has become important for
industry to be aware about different types of event so that it is easy to make decisions within a
business environment properly.

The diversity of event is categorised can be classified into form, size or content. The above
picture shows the events used by business sector in U.K. At different locations. So, basically event
size are classified relying on their size, scope etc. Most of the categories are mega, major, hall mark
events / local community. The above displayed picture states that events are being carried out on
basis of location of region. It depicts that UK most locations are used for events with different
purpose.
Local community- These are those in which society hosts parties, social meetings,
festivals, for fun, entertaining etc. Such type of events develop a strong relationship between each
other which improves environment for living. These local communities carry out these events in
proper &b such a way that they are able to establish a positive relations in-between a people.
(Marjani, 2019).
Major events- These are being considered as bug events as because they are hosted at
larger scale such as London hosts the biggest Chinese New Year Celebrations outside Asia every
year with numerous of people taking part in event.
Hall mark- In these, they are different from others because events are being recognized by
ethos or spirit of town as people recognize them. Awareness of such events enhances their
popularity in amongst people. For example- The Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland.
Mega Events- They those which carried out at mega level with global context. For
example- Fifa World Cup . Their main aim is to attract major attractions, tourists, to the event so
that profit or benefit is gained.
Structure of industry
The structure of industry has has been dynamic because earlier events were hosted by
individually but now they are hosted by events companies, or bodies/ trustees of other enterprises.
Moreover, these are also carried out by large team of an entity such as BBC Good Food Shows
organized by BBC Hay market (Mochol, 2020).
Suppliers
This has been examined that development as well as growth of suppliers in this industry is
being enlarging because of high demands of resources. Also, such vendors might work in several
stages of such events such as stage, production department, lighting and sounds etc.
Venues
These are part of event management as they help in arranging place, or time of event.
Venues management are defined process of arranging and managing services of events properly. For

example- The London Eye.
Industry associations
These are bodies are that are formed with aim of assisting events industry at time of
emergency. The event industry of UK is so diverse it is they focus on different sector rather than a
specific one. Thus, there are several type of associations such as ESAE which is also known as
European Society of Association Executives (Yoast, 2020).
Roles and responsibility of events
The roles & responsibility of different events depends upon the size as well as cope of a
particular event. It is important to be aware about these so that it is easy to make decisions
regarding business. They have responsibility of creating an event which brings a change in society.
Therefore, discussed matter shows that events are occur at national & international level
depending upon themes, needs, requirements of facilitators.

Business environment of event industry has deep impact on this industry as it also affects the
their growth as well as development. Environment refers to surroundings which revolves around us.
It is crucial to be aware about factors affecting it. With this competitive era, it has become essential
to be aware about these factors which are give below-
 Social Media- These rise of technology has boost the growth of all sectors whether it
commercial or service or any other. Social media is main being rising rapidly & it has
become important to use them for professional as well as personal purpose. In event
industry, they also uses social media for promotion, advertising etc. Main rationale for
growth of industry depends upon use of technology. This social media includes several tools
like Facebook, Yahoo, E-commerce websites, etc. (Guizzardi, 2017). It depends upon a
facilitator to choose e which which type of appropriate tools. With use of these, it is easy to
do promotion & advertising.
 Enhance of tourism sector- Another factor which have impact on growth of industry is
that enhancement of tourism sector at wider scale. This is because as more tourists visit tom
a particular event, word of mouth is done by people which increases importance of event at
broader level. This factor has being a majorly part in development of event industry at
global scale. The tourism sector is necessary to be focused as it help in rapid development of
event industry globally.
 Unemployment rates- Then comes element of unemployment which also being viewed as

crucial because high rise of unemployment in society has assist industry to hire labour/
employees for work. Through this, it is easy for them to increase their activities functions,
operations at larger scale. More & more individual are hired by this industry which result in
increasing of growth at higher scale.
From above discussed matter, it is stated that these elements have deep impact upon
development of event industry globally. With changing period of time, competition has increased at
wider area which enhance important of these factors. Furthermore, it is important to make
decisions so that appropriate level of strategies for development are being undertaken.

P3 Evaluate value, impacts and legacy of a range of global events on the environment in which they
operate
Value, & legacy of global events on environment has deep impact & affects their way of
operating.
Value- Events have higher value in our lives because they occur at each aspects. They
provide ample number of benefits like popularity, revenue, etc. from all sectors. Rise of business &
other sectors are enhancing importance of events at wider scale (Van de Perre, 2020). These have
impact upon global events like mega events are organised at large level which results in generation
of revenue.
Impacts- The climate of competition give rise to studies of economic studies of events &
technology. In context with global events, these are impacted globally as they operate at
international level (Getz, 2017).
Legacy- Legacy of event includes impact that it has upon long term positive effect on host
area culturally, economically or physically in other legacy comprises of area which require
improvement in infrastructure of event. These have effect on environment which are explained as
follows-
Political environment-
Global environments have effect on political environment as events are organized under
consideration of political situations.
Social environment-
These events also affects the social & community because they are organised with concern
of people, their mind set so that their morale or principles does not get hurt. Moreover, decisions

related with events are taken by survey of local communities.
Economical -
They too affects the economical environment because of operating within number of sector.
This is because it creates effect on as events which will be held in U.K. Will need to carry out their
every activity under BREXIT or EU legislations.
After analysis of above explained matter, it is examined that it is crucial to organize such
events by accessing these factors so that correct decisions are made. Furthermore, it is duty of
organizer to make ensure that appropriate forms of steps are focused. D

Strategies are essential to be used so that because they help in proper decision making.
Strategies are defined as set of actions or tactics which are used accomplish goals & objectives. In
global events, this industry does requires strategies so that development of business is done
effectively. Without use of these management strategies, it is difficult to make decisions in business
sector. Moreover, these are responsible for development in industry. So, different types of strategies
are given below-
 Economic impact studies- In this industry, it is essential to have proper knowledge of
different types of events so that allocation of resources, activities, employees is done
accordingly. So, to do this government use economic impact studies which assist in making
decisions and which also help them in determining or analysing income, expenditure of such
event. It is necessary to undertake this strategy so that appropriate decisions are being made.
By undergoing with economic studies deeply, it is easier to gain information regarding the
area, suppliers, investors which help in making correct decisions.
 Community perceptions of event- This it is also an crucial strategy which is required to be
adopted as in this survey is conducted which help in understanding host community's
perception which can provide with tools for identifying & focusing on community concerns
in aim of preparing of next events. It is crucial to have knowledge about community
perception so that activities, tasks are carried out accordingly. Thus, proper awareness is
needed to use this strategy. By accessing these perception they help in maintaining event
structure in society & community (Schroder, 2017).
So, it is stated that management strategies are needed to be adopted & utilized in such a
way that objectives are gained. Furthermore, appropriate tactics are to be used so that problem

do occur in near future. In this industry, management plays crucial role which is needed to be
fulfilled properly.

Global events operate worldwide with large number of functions, operations, activities.
Events occur at every situation in our lives relying on cultural, economic, etc. These situations
increase importance of event at broader scale (Gunawan, 2020).External environment are those
which impacts or get affected through external elements such as political, economical, social etc.
So, they affects the external environment as well which are described below-
Impact of global events on external environment
There are several type of global events such as mage, major, Hallmark etc. which directly
affect external environment. Below are factors which get affected by them-
Social & cultural- Local community can be considered as they affect social as well as
cultural both. For example- In UK, fish festival is being organised by local community of
Newhaven fishing industry. These factors
Positive impact
 This has positive effect as this event enhance & build up the community pride which is
beneficial for establishing good relationship.
Negative impact
 It is not compulsory that fish festival is celebrated by every other community so it
negatively affects goodwill of community in society (Chow, 2020).
Physical & environmental-
 It is another external environment which is affected by global events such as major events
like Chinese New Year Celebration.
Positive effect
 This Chinese New Year Celebration is celebrated as major event because it depicts the
environment of people with different cultures.
Negative effect

 This event negatively affects the environment because firecrackers are used for celebration
which affects local surroundings & create noise pollution (Chow, 2020).
Political
This component of environment also get affected such as mega events which are organised
at global level affects many political situations.
Positive effect
 FIFA World cup is being organised at large scale which leads to assist in development of
investment promotion of country (Patil, 2017).
Negative
 This mega events cause negative impacts because in such there is miss-allocation & misuse
of funds which disrupts the political situation.
Tourism & economic
This external environment is being affected by global events also at deeper level. This
factors is essential because it is major reason for development of event industry globally.
Positive
 Mega events like , Fifa world cup have positively impacted upon tourism & economic
because they enhances the stay of tourist for longer period of time. Also, events help in
increasing revenue generation of tourism industry.
Negative
 This global event negatively affects the tourism & economic factor in negative way because
they if events are not organised properly than tourism or economic occur financial loss.

Macro environment does also affects the decision making because they make it difficult for
event organizer to make decisions about their work. For example- Political environment affects
decision making because rules or regulations have to maintained which is time consuming process.
Then, macro environment also does affects the organisational behaviour because individual
have to carry out their roles, responsibilities by properly accessing these elements. This leads to
problems, conflicts & delay of work. Macro environment affects both decision making &
organisational behaviour at deeper level. So, it is needed to be aware about these so that everything
is done correct manner.

Thus, explained paragraph shows that external environment are being affected by global
events which creates problem at all aspects. It is also seen that in they have positive as well as
negative way. So, several external environment factors have been discussed with both aspects of
impacts (Vodenska, 2020).
P6 Conduct a SWOT analysis for a specific event to examine and assess the criteria essential for the
successful planning of events
SWOT Analysis is tool which is used by entity to examine or identify inner capabilities
where improvement is needed. It is a rime consuming tool because it requires deep level of
knowledge & expertise. So, a specific event has been undertaken which is mega event – Fifa world
cup. By accessing this tool, decisions are taken properly & it is further discussed below-
Strength
 Main strength of this event is that it
helps in generating profit as well as
revenue to both economy and country.

Weakness
 Due to involvement of large amount of
funds, it is difficult to make sudden
change in event.

 These mega events has opportunity of

 Major threat of this event is that due to
change in policies of government it is
difficult to make decisions.

There are different criteria for successfully planning of events which are described below-
 Develop goal & objectives- It is first criteria which is used for planning successful event as
in this why it is important to organize this event, what is needed top be achieve through it
is examined effectively (Mochol, 2020).
 Organize team- It is further essential step in which team is needed to be organised so that
tasks, roles are classified into correct members. By organising team, decisions are carried

out properly.
 Establishing budget- Then, budget is being prepared so that further activities are done
accordingly & resources are acquired. It is important to do proper establishment of budget.
 Launch date & master plan- Then at last crucial criteria is to decide when focused event
will be launched. Moreover, a master plan is also to implemented so that if any problem
occur than alternative plan can be used (Yoast, 2020).
So, by examining of above SWOT analysis it is specified that events are beneficial for
growth & development. Moreover, to carry out successful planning of event steps has been
explained which depicts how planning is to be executed.
CONCLUSION
After a brief analysis of above report, it is examined that event industry is larger & have
impact at both national & international stages. So, discussions have been made about diversity of

events, effect of global event on environment, management strategies. Then, impacts macro
environment has on global events industry, SWOT analysis & criteria for successful planing of
event is explained.
