INTRODUCTION
Global Sustainability refers to the term which is viewed as the desired level of
development and environmental management at the global level. It is related to the political,
social, environmental, economic, legal and technological sustainability at the whole world. Due
to various factors, some countries had developed themselves and some countries are developing
themselves now. This lead company to face so many problems at national and international level.
Some problems are such as lack of clean water, wastages of energy and lack of full employment
and proper economic growth etc.
Present report will highlight the 3 sustainability issues related to the sustainability
development goals face by the company at the global scenario.
Overview of the Company
Toyota Motor Corporation is a Japanese multinational public manufacturing company
which is currently one of the leading company in automotive industry. It is the second largest
manufacturing company in the world. The company was founded in year 1837 by Kiichiro
Toyota. It's headquarters is in Toyota city, Aichi, Japan. It serves its products and services at
worldwide. Its product portfolio consists of auto-mobiles, luxury vehicles, commercial vehicles
hybrid electric vehicles and engines etc. Its service portfolio consists of banking, financing and
leasing etc. (Toyota Motor Corporation, 2012).
MAIN BODY
Rationale
Communities are facing so many issues such as lack and wastage of the clean water.
They are using water in various activities which lead water to become dirty and waste. This
creates lack of water for societies. There are continuously reduction in petroleum resources and
coal resources which takes 100 years to develop. Thus, they are facing lack of energy which
helps in generating electricities (Liu & et.al., 2015). Due to many factors, communities'
contribution towards economic growth is unequal. Also, they are facing employment issues such
as lack of qualified employees and labours. Overall all these issues creates negative impact on
the global sustainability.

Due to increasing population, the demand for the water is increasing which not only
create problems for the population but also for the companies too, Toyota is using water for the
manufacturing of the cars which lead to wastage and dirt of the water.
When water is the topic in the context of company, Toyota has to face so many
challenges which are as follows such as water shortages, water pollution and natural disasters.
They also face legal action and regulatory risks which is related to usage of the water
(Geijzendorffer & et.al., 2017).
For the reduction of water wastages, company is using such manufacturing technologies
which use minimal water and also reuse the water. Also, company collects rain water, purifying
them by recycling technologies and stores it in their garden where they can use the water for
their manufacturing. Company is also helping local communities to improve the quality of water.
Company is actively collaborate with their stakeholders and communities to achieve the
sustainability development goal “cleaning water”.
Affordable and Clean Energy
Due to increasing in the number of businesses or manufacturing companies, demand for
petroleum resources and coal resources are increasing which creates a lot of issues for the all
industries and companies (Smith, 2019).
Toyota is manufacturing cars which required a lot of fuel and petrol. Also, for the
manufacturing of these kinds of cars, electricities are also required. Thus, for the generation of
energy, the required resources are wasting and they are also not clean which lead quality of the
cars to go below the standards (Nowotny & et.al., 2018).
For this solution of the issues, company is using lean manufacturing system which
reduces the wastage materials and reuse the energy for manufacturing the cars. Also, company is
making new and innovative cars which can consumes fuel and petrol and is running by
electricities which can be easily reuse by the vehicles. For the achievement of “Affordable and
clean energy” sustainability development goal, company has initiated Fuel Cell energy plan in
which the energy is being reuse with the help of hydrogen plant.
Decent Work and Economic Growth
Community is facing unemployment issues and economic growth issues which is creates
by many internal and external factors of global environment. Every year at least 1 million labors
are getting no work which lead to increase the unemployment rate at the global level. Also,

qualified employees are not getting the jobs, they want. This also increase the unemployment
rate.
Also, company is not getting professional and qualified employees & skilled labors.
Thus, company has to give employment to those employees and labors which create bad working
environment, this lead company to face issues related to the decent work (Pätäri & et.al., 2016).
Company is facing so many problems which is created by the non-sustainable economic growth.
For the equal growth of economy of nations, company is establishing their manufacturing
plants in various countries in which innovative manufacturing systems are being used for the
manufacturing of the products (Barros & et.al., 2015). For the manufacturing products at least
wastage of materials, company is hiring local people and give them employment opportunities
and training.
CONCLUSION
From the above study, it has been summarised that Communities is facing so many issues
and problems which can be reduce by achieving the sustainability development goals. Not only
government of all the nations, but also company should work on these goals in order to achieve
them. These goals are interrelated to each other, work on one goal can reduce the negative
impact of another goals. For example – if focusing is on to decent work and economic growth,
this lead to provide people income and facilities which provide them a good education and good
health services which are also sustainability development goals.
From the above research, it has been recommended that Company should manufacturing
those products and services which can be use for longer time. Also, their manufacturing system
should not increase the wastage and pollution level by emission high level of carbon dioxide.
Company should also use water purifying and recycling production system so that usage of water
and wastage of water can be minimize.
