INTRODUCTION
Global tourism refers to the travelling of people from one place to another across national
and international boundaries. Globalisation is developing higher opportunities for this industry as
it is allowing people to travel international destinations with provides better experience to them.
Continuous based development of this industry directly contributes in bringing boost in national
economy (Torres-Delgado and Saarinen, 2014). The current report provides description about
nature and scale of global tourism. Later, it also provides explanation of growth and features
associated with emerging marketplace and destination region. Later on, it also explores different
roles of key companies over development of global tourism. At last, description will be provided
in major, threats, issues and challenges towards future development of global tourism that could
affect the industry.

Evolvement in travel and tourism industry is taking place every day which have
transformed overall look of industry in completely different manner. These changes are made on
the basis of changing behaviour of travellers, their expectation from the industry and interest
developed by them due to globalisation. It is analysed that solo traveller and global online
travellers are identified as the two main trends that influences overall industry in supportive
form. These trends are explained below with the support of statistical information:
Global online travel: Travellers of today’s world prefer to book their trips through
online medium as it allows them finalising their dream destination in quicker manner. This trend
has also increased benefits of tourism industry as their sales are figures are rising day by day
with online mediums (Torres-Delgado and Saarinen, 2014). Statistical information on this trend
is described below with the supportive evidence of graph:-

As per above stated picture it is depicted that after entrance of online travel booking
option, the tourism industry is constantly growing day by day. It has been analysed that the sales
performance of this industry was estimated around $470.97 billion in the year 2014 which was
later expected to convert into $817.94 billion till 2020. The difference among these 6 years is
almost double which completely shows that tourism industry is growing regularly in rapid
manner.
Solo traveller: People who prefer to travel alone to their favourite destination are
identified as solo travellers. It is seen as effective evolved trend of tourism industry which is
influencing its growth in positive manner. As per the obtained data, it has been identified that
approximately 17% of adults gives preferences to book their dream destination at their own level
for solo trip in the last five years (Rogerson, 2015). As per this, tour operators of this industry are
also developing quality of their services in order to help them out in enjoying their trip with best
experience without any kind of conflict.

Numbers of tourist destination are increasing day by day as people are identifying better
places with their every exploration. The main nations which come under top 10 tourism
destinations are UK, Vietnam, Mexico, Spain, Turkey, France, US, China, Germany, Italy etc.
