According to Connelly, (2007), Sustainable Development, is a form of economic
development that at the provision of high standards of living, without the depletion of natural
resources.
Masdar city is a techno-centric approach, which combines an intelligent design in which
the city environment can provide accommodation to a larger population. The city includes a
sustainable community and offers the greatest quality of urban life with the least environmental
footprints. It attracts the international clean tech companies to invest since it allows a free
investment zone where the companies can deploy clean energy technologies. Its sustainability
development involves diminution of the demand of water and energy and recycling of
construction waste materials. The city very effectively overcomes its financial challenges
because its main focus is on the sustainable development, including self driving electric vehicles,

Eco villages are the urban or the rural communities which aim at a supportive social
environment, with the lowest impact of life. Their main focus is on the green production, on
alternative energy usage and on ecological building practices. The principle of eco villages is of
self sufficiency and of sustainability development with the minimal use enhancing the social,

Facing the challenges of the globalization, sustainability development is when the people
reconcile with nature, regain their power, to gain a proper lifestyle, to have better standards of
living. Thus it can be concluded that both the techno-centric as well as the eco-centric
approaches aim at the sustainable and economic development of the society.
