INTRODUCTION
Health care homes provide their functions for the protection of health of patients which
are suffering from different diseases. It is a duty of management to take care of the health and
safety of all employees at workplace. To provide adequate safety to their employees, need to
implement different health and safety legislations. Different legislation which are needed to be
monitored on continuous basis are Health and Safety Work Act 1974, management of Health and
Safety Regulations 1999, etc. It provides an opportunity regarding minimisation of the risks and
incident of injuries as well as ensure safety of staff members. White chapel Residential care
home is working in East London that is being selected for the present study.
In the present report, legislative requirements which are communicating information
regarding health and safety, responsibilities of care home respect management of well-being and
safety, importance of risk assessment to enhance decision making about policies and procedures,
impact of wellness and safety policy on its customers as well as impact of non-compliance of
health and safety legislations will be explained. Also, effectiveness of health and safety policies
in providence of positive and safe culture will be discussed.

government which provides information about safety measures that are needed to be adopted by
the care homes. The information which is communicated by such different legislations is
defined as below:
Health and Safety at work Act 1974: This legislation is provided by government of
UK which brings obligation upon employers to take care about health of all employees. This
act covers a wide range of issues related to workplace health and safety. The management of

Management of Health and Safety at work Regulations 1999: This act provides an

There are a large number of health and safety priorities which are need to be
implemented by the management of care home for ensuring good working conditions at
workplace. To maximise security in care homes, a large number of legislations are provided by
the government which includes rules needed to be followed by all care homes while providing
their services. They also have an aim to protect the lives of patients which are coming to health
care homes. For this purpose, they need to implement various safety guards for different kinds of
their patients.

proper walking aids to their patients which are serious in nature and not able to move by

It has been concluded from the above report that, it is the obligation upon the
management of care home to implement different health and safety legislations which ensures
the safety of employees at workplace. This will provides the large number of benefit to
management to build effective relation with their staff members and attain their trust towards
their functions. Different legislation which are need to continuously monitor are Health and
Safety work Act 1974, Food safety Act 1990, Health and Safety(First Aid) Regulations 1981 etc.
It provides the opportunity to minimise the risk and injuries at workplace. It improves the
performance of medical practitioners which ensures better safety of the health of patients.
