Information Sharing: There is guidance for practitioners as well as managers which might be
present for content that can be common to every one respectively and also there can be some
content which would be relevant while working with specific population group for children or young
people. The content which is used in this scope has some specific relevancy for only those types of
groups which would be explaining some text or highlighted matter with colour coded box like shown

Supporting people who may have some experience with delusional belief: Many
people who have experienced delusions that may not be very necessarily difficult or problematic like
for example a child wants to believe in Santa Clause would not cause any harm in it. But in some
cases of vulnerability there are many people who are prone to jump on to some conclusions which
might affect their decision-making and thinking process which would be affective for future case.
Supporting people affected by Mental disease: There can be various ways in which we
can extend support to a person affected by mental disease. It is little difficult and complex to deal
with such cases but by counselling through friends, family, environment and taking care of them
could let them out of that business in some ways. Also by motivational speeches sand therapies
could make them to encourage with the problem effectively.

advocacy (Patel, 2012).
Accessing information- The most important things is to access the detailed information about
the people who are willing to take the benefits and services of IMHA. It is very essential for the
management and the redress department to gather each and every information that is related
to the people if it is not performed then there are chances where they will not be able to
address the issues and problems of the patient and will affect the patient more.
Changing medication- many times the medication system entirely get change this will create

several supporting tools and methods. It is very essential for the health care home to provide the
patent various health and mental care support so that they can be able to get over the issues and
problems that come across their lives. It is also very necessary for them to use other effective
services as well as because they will be guiding the patient in getting cure in more effective and fast
manner. This is basically a tool through which the several other offered services can be conveyed to
the patient and related people. It is a communication channel by which all the required information
and guidance can be availed. As the patient who all are eligible to avail the services can be informed
the other such services which are very much required being a mental health patent (Ridley and

information and required data (Shneiderman, 2010). As to collect the information I will be meeting
the different departments so that I can be able to know what are the requirements for the patients
who are eligible for the support of the IMHA services. It is very essential for the correct information so
that a patient could be get cured appropriately and effectively. I will also try to contact the patient
and his/ her relatives so that I can collect all the information that are related to the patient, with
support to this I can guide the therapists and doctors for the required things and IMHA will also guide
in using the best and appropriate tools for the treatment. Knowing all the information will assist me in
advising the patient to act accordingly, and actions can be performed in suitable manner so that they
can get the proper care. I will use the computer and written system both are the tools by which the
information can be gathered and collected appropriately and significantly effective (Slade and et. al.,
2014). These methods will good for me as to gather all such information and data. Most important
things is been adapted by me is that is do not expose or use them anywhere as because these are
very confidential and need to be managed and maintained in a proper and effective way.

detail about the patients present stage and position and in what all manner the treatment will
be carried out all these information will be provided by it to the relatives and all the related
people of the suffering (Ashworth and Horder, 2013).
Responsible clinician RC- IMHA will allot the work and the duties that need to be fulfilled by RC
to the patients so that they can be able to treat them in most effective and appropriate
manner. This will influence them to perform appropriately. Basically RC is totally responsible for
the overall treatment and services that are to be availed to the patients. They also take a very
proper care of the person who is going through this severe health related issues.
Approved mental health professional AMHP- IMHA is helping the professionals to know
information about the patient and the issues which is been faced by them, and these
professionals are very much responsible for the decision making process under the mental
health related act. This decisions will help in functioning in more effective and appropriate
manner so that patient will be able to get his/ her right of living a healthy and a safe life
(Bartels and Eskow, 2010) .

with the relatives as well hence they will provide all the information about the patients to the
therapist so that they can be able to develop the mental and physical state of the patients.
Care Manager- These managers are very much responsible to take care of all the required thing
of a patient so IMHA help them in knowing about patient and this will lead them in treating and
taking care of the person getting into the health related issues can be able to served in
effective manner and can assist the therapists and relatives to know more about the patients
present state and conditions (Bartlett, 2012).
3.2 Explain how you use referral processes
Referrals are the aspect that are adapted by the Health care agent who will offer different services
and aids that is very much required by a patient. With the help of this process I would be able to
promote the services and support system to the customers that are providing in the organization.

offered by IMHA. In the first stage the problems and issues are identified so that they can be able to
process the entire stages and with context to that proper assistance and references can be provided
to them. Then after data and information will be assessed, here each and every details of the patient
will be collected by patient or the nearest relatives. Then as per the state of the patient several
solutions will be identified that will help the patient to know whats is required and what all solutions
are there (Bockting and et. al., 2013). Then after, more information are gathered so that a support
plan can be made then this will at last will lead to the stage where I can refer several things that is
very much required by the patients.
This process is very essential and very effective as because this assist in providing the support
system to the patients. Basically these services are availed to the client when they are in the need of
it. This is very appropriate as because it helps in providing better services to the clients and the aim
of this is to improve present health and mental state of a person. This is empowering the people so it
is very essential to use each and every information and detail that has been provided by patient and
treatment will be provided as per the need and requirement of the person who is suffering from
various health related issues (Caplan, 2013).
3.3 Explain how you implement and review referral processes

implement the process it is very essential to first have a very strong base of the referral process, this
will help in creating awareness to the general public a web-page can be prepared. Then it is very
essential to make the web pages so attractive as well as informative so that it can be accessed by
any person who wish to check the facilities and services of the company. Then after the present
customers are to be informed about the referral plans and the procedures that are involved with it so
that they can get influence and motivate others also to use the services of IMHA (Cappadocia, Weiss
and Pepler, 2012). Basically referral is the process by which the one will refer several thing to another
person regarding some products and services by which they got very high level of satisfaction and
they themselves wish others also to use the same. The implementation process also include a stage
where people are rewarded who refer to others of the services. Then after the customer services
team are provided training so that they can be able to serve the patients and the members in most
appropriate an effective manner. I will prepare a team where they are whole soul responsible to take
care of all the aspects that are related to the referral program.
I will properly have a review on daily basis whether the team is performing the work in effective
way or not and are they be able to address the problems and issues of the clients all these aspects
are considered by me so that IMHA can be able to serve the people and resolve all the upcoming
issues of the person (Corrigan and et. al., 2012).
3.4 Explain how you respond to referrals
Learning Outcome 2- Provide Independent Mental Health Advocacy
Document Page
As the referral as got accepted by the different authorities in IMHA, the prior step that is been
taken by them is to take the patient under the security and treatment section. Under the mental
health act the patient is to be assessed and the needs and requirements will be identified. It is also
very necessary action that I will take is that to identify and gather all related information which made
the condition of the person as he/she is now. The factors and the elements that had affected the
mental state of the person will be clearly determined (Devos, 2012). Then all the requirements of the
patient and the related people will be identified so that a proper service can be provided to the
patient to get cured as soon a possible. Then the specialist assessment is performed which is very
necessary to respond to the referrals.
Several actions are taken to the requested referral like the patient as well as the family members
are informed about the actions and steps that will be taken for them. The therapist will immediately
are contacted so that they can be able to meet the patient for which the referrals are offered and
requested. With this the services and treatment will be provided to them and they will try to make
cure the patient with all the efforts and hard work that is required. With the help of this the main
target to treat the patients will get accomplished and along with that the people who are having the
health related issues can get proper assistance and is able to develop the present state of their life
(Drew and et. al., 2011).

3.5 Range of advocacy services:
Independent Mental Capacity Advocate IMCA- This is the method of treating the mental health
related patients with the several techniques and methods. The treatment and the services are
availed to the people who are not mentally stable and are also not in a state to take several
decision and step for their own self. IMCA will meet the person and discuss various things
through which they actually come to know what all are the aspects that are very much required
by the them and all the ways will come to know are are must at time of treatment of the
patient. This is very helpful and supporting the patients to get over from the issues and
problems that is facing by the person (Duke and et. al., 2011). Medical treatments and
therapies are the methods through which the people are cured and this is leading in better and
healthy life of the people.
Generic and specialist advocacy services(i.e. older people)- As person gets older their thinking
capacity and mental state will not be as effective as it has to be. It is very essential to take a
very proper care for these people as because they need special attention and care. This will be
done with the help of the generic and specialist advocacy services, it will assist the family and
the patient to avail the services and support to overcome the situation of the old age person

who is getting affected badly. Many time the life become too complex that will affect the
people's mind this will also influence the old age people. Basically Independent Advocacy avails
help and support to those clients who are at the age of 65 and above who comes under the
contract of self referral. For these type of patients a personalised services are also provided so
that they can be able to get effective and appropriate services (Featherstone and Fraser,
2012).
Learning Outcome 4- Engage with professionals
4.1 Explain how you research and identify a range of people and services the IMHA is likely to
come into contact with
Range
This may include:
4.1 Range of people and services:
Responsible Clinician RC- These are the people who are whole soul responsible for the
treatment and health care services of the patient who are mentally disturbed and are not in a
state to take any kind of decisions and severe steps. It is very essential for IHMA to contact and
connect with the RC so that they can be able to provide the services of it to the patients and an
entire process of therapy can be performed at a single place only (Foy, Kelleher, Laraque,

2010). With the help of several dealers and mediators IMHA is advised to high and get
connected with the RC people so that they can coordinately carry out the operational and
different required activities.
Approved Mental Health Professional AMPH- These are the professionals who are performing
and carrying out the duty and responsibility to organize an assessment of the Mental Health
Act for instance the to the lowest degree confining value and the engagement rule. It become
very essential for them to ensure that patient is to be interviewed properly and along with that
they also if they need to get admitted then it is important to avail them a dignified and
respectable treatment in hospital (Gowen and et. al., 2012). Through the different sources and
middleman the contact can be made with these professionals.
Care Manager- These are the person who are responsible to prove the health care services to
the patients on the personal level where they stay with the person at their home only and they
provide different kinds of the services to them. Many time the condition of the patient is not as
appropriate to visit the hospital for his/ her treatment at that time it become very necessary to
hire such care managers. IMHA with interviews and internal sources that hire such people so
that they can avail the effective and direct services to the patient at their homes as well.

Individual- As to communicate all the roles and responsibilities that are availed by IMHA to the
individual person, the best and most suitable method is to use the direct conversation
technique where one on one discussion can be performed this will help the individual to get all
the details and information that is regarding the role and the duties of the IMHA. This methods
will help in knowing every aspects along with that the queries can also be get resolved through
this (Grob, 2014) .
Nearest relative- Communication with the nearest relative can also be done with the help of
direct channels as because they are the one who need to know every aspect about the services
and the treatment methods that need to be provided to the patient so it is very essential for
relatives to know the detail appropriately that can be done with the help of face to face
conversation.

Approved mental health professional AMHP- To contact with the professionals it is very
necessary to have a very kind and courteous call. With the help of very courteous mail IMHA
can be able contact and communicate with these professionals so that they can convey the
information and duties that is been performed by IMHA (Hack, 2016).
Therapist- As to do conversation with the therapist IMHA need to conduct a meeting with all the
necessary people so that they can convey the information about all such aspects and work that
has been carried out by it.
Care Manager- Direct communication or the face to face conversation is bet option that can be
adapted by the IMHA to the care managers so that they can contact as an when required.
4.3 Explain how you use strategies to negotiate with professionals
It is very essential to provide customers the best and better services so that they can be cured
and improve their present state of their minds for that most talented and skilled professional are
required for treating the patients it is very essential for me as the member of health care
organization to make several strategies so that I can be able to negotiate with the professionals so
that they will agree to perform the work which is required in a particular set rates and pays (Hale

and Borys, 2013) . There are numerous strategies that need to be followed they are as follows-
Focused on interest rather position- It is very essential to have the focus upon the main
objective of the discussion so, the foremost things is that s will create a very big issue so, to
make effective negotiate with them this strategy is very much required (Hatcher, Oyer and
Gallardo, 2011). They need to discuss the fact that they (professionals) are very necessary to
be present for the treatment of the patient so as per that pay can be managed because there
will be more patients in number. This can be one of the strategy that can influence the
professionals to serve the people in lesser pays.
Way of communication- One of the best techniques that will be I can adopt is the influential
method by communication, the most effectively I do conversation with the professionals they
will get impacted by that, pleasing word and their benefits to serve people will be
communicated to them. This will help in negotiating with them.
Considering every professionals- It is also another strategy where the consideration is not pai9d
only upon an individual professionals all are communicated and focused which is very much
required, concentrating on only one will disrespect other this will create a very big issue so, to
make effective negotiate with them this strategy is very much required (Holloway and Galvin,
2016) .

4.4 Explain how you respond to dilemmas and challenges which may be faced
As to get engaged with the specialist and professionals, many time various problems and issues
will get arise that need to be resolved so that the functioning and activities of a mental health care
can be get resolved and managed in appropriate manner. There come many challenges at time of
getting engaged with the professional such as the time, pay structure, availability (Hoye and et. al.,
2015) . All these factors affect the services providing by the organisation that has to be responded
and reacted with effective and appropriate. I need to take several step and make plans so that the
dilemmas and challenges that can arise can be able to get resolved the methods that can be adopted
are as follows-
Making proper plan- It is very essential aspect that need to be done as because a contingency
plan assist in making quick and sudden changes if any circumstance takes place. It is very
necessary to be made by this all the future problems and challenges can be forecasted and
remedies can be made to over come them. This can be a very critical aspect that need to be
managed and to be designed in most approachable and reliable way (Israel and et. al., 2010) .
Managing differences- The variances that is taking place is not in the supply and demand
channel of the mental health with the patients that need to be reduced and to be removed
entirely, this can be done with again an effective plan along with that a good bond and
relationship building strategy. With the assistance to this the barriers can be overcome and can

reduce the future challenges and problems.
Proper communication- This is one of the best aspect that need to be managed and to be done
with the professionals. It is because it will help in keeping a loop between all the people and
professionals who are interlinked with the organisation (Lamb, 2012) .

The patient who is facing the mental health related issues will be facing many problems in their
day to day life where they feel very unusual things that actually is not happening by their

Hearing voices- Many time the patient feel some sound which will disturb them and will

hallucination that is been faced by the patient where actually there is no sound no one other
who is in state of mental stable will not hear but to them they hear creaming crying and other
sounds that will make them unstable. These are the things that is an imaginary life where the
mental people is living that is just in their mind in reality there is nothing around.
Having delusional beliefs- There are many people who beliefs in a very different manner that is
due to their mental state is not stable and is not supporting them to think in right and
appropriate manner. These people become very rigid and does not adapt and understand
things that is guided by other they continuously resist to them and will imagine and believes
that what they are thinking is very correct and right. This is the situation that is been faced by
the individual ho is mentally sick (Mayers and et. al., 2010) .
Paranoia- This is the aspect where one feels that somethings or some one is threatening
him/her. This becomes a state where the patients mental state reach to a stage where he/ she
does not feel safe, they found themselves to be affected and being threatened by every one
else. They many time views that some body came and attacked them killed or tried to kill them
so such hallucination will be felt by them that is just their imagination nothing else (O'Leary,

helpful mediation to help their recuperation. Different people may require longer term support to
learn again or keep up their abilities and increase more noteworthy freedom. As per the stage of the

required by the patient. As accordance to that support is to be provided to them, this will help in the
understanding the actual treatment that need to be carried out so that they can be improved quickly.
Following are some of the way by which I can serve and support people with mental illness-
Special attention and care has to be provided to the patient (Olin and et. al., 2010) . It become
very necessary some time that the person wish to have family and support of many people
surrounding to them. So to assist these people it is very essential to spare some quality time
with them so that they can feel comfortable and can feel safe and secured.
Listening to their words will also help them to be happy and healthy. The most important thing
that need to be taken in consideration is that the person should be treated as they are normal,
focusing more and more to them will make them fell as if they are ill. It is also very important
to listen carefully what the person is willing to say ignoring their words will affect them to get
improve.
Care has to be properly availed to the patient. To make them improve it is very essential to
fulfill the needs and requirement of the person so that they can be able to be in a state where

5.3 Explain how use a range of methods to communicate with people who have mental health needs
As to communicate with the people who are facing the mental issues and problems it is very
necessary for me to adapt different methods so that they can be able to convey their information and
messages that need to be analyzed and understood. There are different channels and methods by
which one can be able to communicate with the mental health affected people. It ios very essential to
use them so that thy can be able to help the person to overcome with the problems and can treat
them appropriately and effectively (Patel, 2012) . Below are some of the methods-
Face to face communication- Communication can be performed with the help of the face to face
methods where both the patient and the person who need to know about the several things about
the patient will be done. With general conversation starting from the introduction, background of
the family and slowly reaches to the main topic which actually need to be discussed and from
which the actual information can be generated. The patient will also start speaking about every
things as because a loyalty and trust factor will get built.
Therapies- Several therapies are there where the patient can be able to get communicated

with, hypnotism is the method where the therapist will do conversation with the patient (Reinke
and et. al., 2011) . The person is hypnotized and then several questions and conversation is
been discussed though which the person will be able to inform numerous things that is related
to him and this will help the therapist to know more about him.
With the help of videos and picture- This is also one of the method where the person is viewed
several pictures and videos so that they can be able to link the things with the patients life
through this methods (Repper and Carter, 2011) . This is very effective approach to
communicate with the patient and will help in attaining the information and details through
which the person got sick mentally.

people. Many people treat them as an outsider and does not provide the benefits and services
that they actually are in need of (Ridley and Hunter, 2013) . In a health care organization also
many time discrimination activities will take place where the people are to be availed best and
most supportive services. The manner others are treated and services are provided to them in
the very same way these people must be provided services and I will check it is a prior and
most significant way whether this is implemented or not. Keeping a side of the discriminatory
aspect that practices in the society the health care organization must focus upon the fact that
treatment and serving the patient is very important aspect (Ridley and Hunter, 2013).
People who use languages other than English- There are many patient who does not belong to
the place where the people is been taking the health care services so they might not knowing
the English language, hence it become very necessary for them to hire a person who can help
both the party to translate the languages with their comforts and need. Effectively
understanding the needs and wants are the most important aspects that is to be considered by
the health care sector so that they can serve the patient appropriately and can address them
the way they requires it. Language may be a barrier but it must never come across the path at
times of treating a patient as because providing safety and improving health issues is the prior
work that need to be done this will help the person in getting cure with mentally in appropriate
way.

5.5 Explain how you identify dimensions of diversity
Diversity is the method or the practices that are adapted in the society where various people are
differentiated from each other in various ways by color, race, gender, religion and many more
aspects. Humans are mostly divided for the gender, race and ethnicity. Gender is of the very major
aspect that make differences between the people. Although the time has gone where male and
female were treated as a separate person, but still the mentality and perception of the people are the
same where they treat and make a huge difference between male and female.
Race is another aspect that can create differences between the several people in the society.
Similar to the gender race is also one of the aspect that is considered as a social and historical ways.
They actually does not exist but it is just the belief of the people of black and white. This affect
society very badly and influence the mental state of them as well. The people who are dark in their
complex will be treated bad and are not provided many services and facilities that they needs so it
become tough for them to survive in such circumstances (Ryan and et. al., 2010).
Ethnicity is another aspect upon which the people of the society are treating not equal or are
different from others. These are having different culture values and belief s which is very different are
so n this basis the people are treated as distinctive from others. This will affect them to attain the
society's benefits and advantages that lies in their part only.

Specialist support services is basically the aid and services that are provided to the people who
are suffering from the health related issues and not able to get effective treatment to get over from
the health sickness. Especially the Black and minority ethnic people are having various problems and
constraints that are affecting the people to get the services related to health and mental care. With
the support of the government and specialist support services the people may get financial aids that
are very much required by such society and group as because they are treated as if they are not a
part of a society and are separated people. So these people are provided financial support for their
health related checkups and treatments (Shneiderman, 2010) .
There are many provisions and plans for women's safety as well due to lack of finance and other
necessary things many time treatment that is very much required by a woman is not availed to them,
hence for such family and group special support and necessities are provided so that they can be
able to get the benefits as all the normal and other people avails.

respect to that services are provided to them so that they can be able to get improved health and
mental state. It is not necessary that patient with the mental sickness to be the one who is of old age,
he can be of any age so as per that the services and the treatment has to be carried out. Various
methods that is most suitable with the different ranges of people has to be adapted. Gender, rate
and ethnicity is another aspect that need to be considered by the IMHA so that they can take several
actions and steps according to that. This will many time affect the individual personal as because one
can change the belief that the person is grown up with so its is the responsibility of IMHA to clearly
and in detailed manner study the aspect and the perception of them. This will guide the organization
to carry out the study in most appropriate manner and will help them to serve the people the way
they are in need of (Sorsdahl and et. al., 2012) . This can motivate the patient and encourage them
to get better health by their oneself.

There are several risk factors for the staffs working in the IMHA as there are many things that
has to be adapted as a health care servers to the society. It is very essential to understand that
aspect which may create problems and issues at the working place to any of the individual related to

to be treated with well equipment and professionals (Stylianos and Kehyayan, 2012). At that process
it become very essential for the people and the entire team to take in consideration about the fact
that proper steps has to be followed for the treatment if in case any get miss then there are chances
where the patient does not get treated in an appropriate and required manner. It is also very
essential that the one who is indulged in the treatment process need to be very well educated and
should be having the knowledge about the things for which they are present there. The therapies
that many time does not suit the person as because of the state through which the patient is going.
So it become very essential for the people and the team to understand all the things otherwise the
risk factor will get high and then it become difficult to operate and manage it.
6.2 Explain how you respond to risk
As understood there are many risk aspect in the IMHAS services, it has become very essential to
understand them and take corrective and well designed and planned actions so that they can be able
to overcome these aspects and can work in more appropriate manner. As discussed the professional
or the therapist who is treating the patient must be very well educated, this is very important to have
the knowledge and information about all the key areas where one is going to work as because there
are factors which will affect these things (Suddaby and Viale, 2011) . The equipment and the tools
that are used for treating the patient must be well maintained so that risk factors can be reduced and

6.4 Explain how you commit to using supervision
I being the member of the organization I am very appropriately making several plans and taking
various steps so that a proper guidance can be availed to the professionals and can be able to get
the helping hands and can be able to serve the patient in more better and effective manner. I am
also guiding and supervising the several areas and departments so that I can check and have a
proper control over the work and actions and the methods of treatment that are provided to the
clients and customers (Ashworth and Horder, 2013). It is very essential as on my part to do all these
things as because it become my responsibility to check every things as to keep healthy and safe
working environment for both clients and staffs.
I confirm that the evidence above is my own work and was carried out under the
conditions and context specified in the standards.
