Introduction
This study explicitly focuses on a healthcare organization named United Healthcare. The
study will access the readiness of the United Healthcare in addressing he healthcare needs of the
citizens in the next decade, it will also include a strategic plan that will target and address the
growth of the healthcare organization, nurse staffing, resource management and patient
satisfaction. Finally, a comparison will be made between the United Healthcare and the
Singapore Airlines and it will also mention about the cultural issues that have influenced the
practices.
United Healthcare organization
United Healthcare organization or a group is an American (Minnesota) based non-profit
company (managed healthcare). In the year 2018, United Healthcare has reached a rank of 5 in
the fortune 500 rankings in terms of the total revenue. The United Healthcare organization offers
insurance services and the healthcare products. In the year 2017, the United Healthcare
organization has become one of the largest healthcare company in terms of revenue ($200
billion). The company was founded in the year 1977 by Richard T. Burke. The mission of the
company is framed to provide excellent healthcare service for the American citizens. The
mission of the company is to help people to lead a healthy life and make the health system work
in a better way for each and every one. United Healthcare seeks to enhance the performance of
the healthcare system and improve the overall wellbeing and the health of the people and the
community from which they belong. United Healthcare work with the key partners and the
health care professionals so that it can be expanded and the quality healthcare can be accessed at
an affordable price. It also supports the patient/physician relationship and at the same time

empower the people with the proper tools, guidance and information which can be used to make
decisions and personal healthcare choices (Uhc.com, 2019).
Strategic plan
Nurse staffing- it is important to note that a flu shot is the best way to weaken and avoid
flu. Due to this the United Healthcare group has started an initiative for the American citizens so
that they can have a 100 percent coverage. However, one of the major concern is that there is a
shortage in the number of clinics, convenience care clinics and the pharmacies in states. These
clinics are often seen to be understaffed and United Healthcare must conduct recruitment of the
nurses at a regular basis to provide 100 percent coverage to citizens of a specific state. The
clinics can have additional emergency provisions for treating patients with minor injury and this
will require recruitment of nurses on a quarterly basis so that the increased flow of the patient
can be solved (Uhc.com, 2019).
Resource management- The United Healthcare effectively utilize the Optum and
UnitedHealthcare so that the medical organization can provide medical benefits to the people
that reside in over the 50 different states and also in other countries. United Healthcare
organization can employ additional funds into the innovation and technology in an annual basis
and this will enable the trillions of the digital transactions annually. Optum is the leading
technology based healthcare service towards the modernization of the healthcare service. This
can be enhanced by the infusing and integrating the system with the OptumIQ, which is a unique
combination of the expertise, health, analytics and data (Uhc.com, 2019).
Patient satisfaction- Patient satisfaction is a major concern for any service based
company or organization. Due to this the United Healthcare insurance plans must meet the needs
