INTRODUCTION Healthcare is a term used to describe taking care of someone who needs care. People who are experiencing mental or health issues and are not able to fulfil their needs themselves, they urge to take help and support from external agencies who avail proper health support and care to them. Principles of healthcare are very basic and the result should be a proper delivery of healthcare to the service user. In given scenario, an agency named Fleetwood Hall Home is working for the betterment of such individuals by providing them healthcare and support. The issues with Fleetwood Hall Home have been brought to light by inspection by CQC. To overcome these service issues and improve the quality of services delivered at care home following steps to be taken are discussed below. 2
LO 1 (TASK 1) 1.1 Principles of support are applied to ensure that individuals are cared for. Providing proper care and support is an essential part of health and social care. Efficient and satisfactory services to consumer and individuals who require such support is the aim of any care home. Providing the residents support they require and a protected environment to ensure their safety and well-being is a basic principle of health care.Basic principles are prepared and monitored according to the society expectancy which includes equality, the dignity of residents, protection from abuse or harm, safety, social justice, healthy and safe environment, confidentiality and trustfulness (Gillon& Lloyd, 1994).Every individual at care home should work independently and in a team to avail the resident proper services they need. Thumb rule for following these principles is the satisfactory results of the care granted. Recovery of disabled individuals mentally, physically as well as socially is a part of healthcare. At Fleetwood Hall Home same principles and employee training for same should be carried on so that the service quality of the care home will enhance and reach the expected standards. 1.2 Procedures that are adopted to protect clients and colleagues from harm. Safety is a chief necessity of every resident in Fleetwood care home. To assure clients and colleagues safety, health care home has to take various measures into consideration. These measures will vary from implementation of policies to availability of emergency measures to clients themselves. Following amendments should be made in the working of Fleetwood home to increase the efficacy and quality- 1.Various policies and procedures proposed by government and legislation should be implemented for proper working. 2.Easy access to emergency numbers and authorities in charge. 3.Installation of first aid and easy access to it. 4.Assuring all the individuals at healthcare of privacy and infection control. 5.Customized care planning for every resident. 3

A person-centred approach is one where a patient is the centre of focus while delivering healthcare. Fulfilling client's needs, wishes and expectations is what a person-centred approach aims for. In today's era, patient-oriented care planning and healthcare is what every healthcare home follows. Fleetwood Hall Home should follow the same person- oriented approach as it is very beneficial to enhance the quality and service efficiency of a care home. It leads to client satisfaction with better results and feedbacks. Taking care of the patient as the most important member of the healthcare team and trying to give him a proper safe and protected environment with the kind of support and help expected is the goal to achieve. To deliver efficient quality services to the users at care home policies and legislation are of great use and help. Implementation of national and local policies and code of practices are essential for the smooth and satisfactory working of an organization. Government provide a various set of rules to be followed by the agencies and its workers to ensure proper health and service to individuals seeking it. At Fleetwood Hall, such legislation and policies should be implemented for improved services and handling of the issues faced in the current scenario. Employees should be acknowledged about these policies and should be enforced to work according to the legislation. Violation of any rules may cause adverse effects for workers and should be informed about. Any act of negligence or crossing of limits in accordance with these rules will lead to the firing of staff member involved. Keeping proper records of residents and safeguarding them is what leads to induction of trust in service users. Legislation helps in allowing employees to follow a blueprint of rules to improve and give best services possible. Safety regulations, which include safety from hazardous material and also from anything that can cause harm. 2. Following these theories will help in getting social, physical, mental and spiritual support for the patient. One such theory is Maslow hierarchy of needs; according to Maslow, every individual has specific needs which are differentiated into deficit needs and special needs. He proposed a plan with five levels where there are different needs and to move to another level first the previous level should be fulfilled. Physiological needs being the basics following safety needs, love and belongingness need, needs for esteem and self-actualization needs (McLeod, 2007). If any person in the team will be less efficient it will be overcome by the skills of another team worker. By this approach personal differences between the workers and professional disturbances will also decrease leading to the improved working of an organization. LO 4 (TASK 4) 4.1 Own role, responsibilities, accountabilities and duties in the context of your work within and outside your own care nursing home. Each individual at a care home has a set of duties to follow and individual responsibilities to carry on the services efficiently. It is mandatory to treat each and every resident at care home equally and rightfully and should be able to maintain each of the patient's dignity and respect. Respecting every individual's opinion, belief and culture are must for a healthcare worker (Mechanic, 1980).Proper communication is the initial step to have a better repo with residents so I worked on enhancing my conversation skills and changing the tone to achieve better results.Maintaining confidentiality will help in promoting trust towards the healthcare worker and should emphasize on the protection of records and information. I learnt that any kind of discrimination will affect the purpose and quality of service I am delivering so avoiding any sort of discrimination is essential. Proper facilities to help patients use the amenities effectively and with complete privacy should be implemented. I proposed formation of separate rooms, toilets, waiting areas and zones should be provided for people with the different support required. It is an individual responsibility to follow the policies implemented at the care home and take care of any violation or negligence. Point decision making in case of ethical dilemmas should be ability a healthcare worker and with personal experience I myself came across such dilemmas a lot of time. The difference in opinion and beliefs should be avoided when it comes to religion and cultural differences. Inspection of care home should be done on regular basis and by setting up a quality commission and quality check. The patient should be the chief of healthcare and need of a patient should be understood properly and taken care of efficiently. 14

NHS has laid various policies for the smooth working of healthcare organizations but as a healthcare worker, individual responsibilities and amendments in policies will ensure the better working of an agency. As the manager of healthcare home I would like to add regulations for elder abuse because this issue often go un-noticed and heard of, many of times abuses taking place at care home for elder are not in accountability of higher authorities to avoid and so strict policies should be made to avoid any kind of abuse or harm to elderly residents and mentally ill patients (Cooper et al, 2008).I also arranged for a well maintained inspection committee with specialized workers to inspect all possible damage at a care home and avoid any harm and mishap. Seminars and group discussions were encouraged and organized for residents to help them identify their rights and any harm taking place to them and help them raise their voice against it. Regular counselling sessions for patients with mental disability and depression are arranged. Supplies are checked routinely to avoid misuse. Cumulative working of staff will ensure the proper following of policies and practices. 15
4.3 Recommendations to develop own contributions to meet good practice requirements in your own care home. Recommendations and standards are enhanced to improve the quality of services at a care home. To attain a proper working of care home number of changes can be made and recommended. As the manager of the care home, I am highly responsible for making changes and alteration for better working. Positive attitude and motivational efforts by the individual will allow the staff and workers to work effectively (White, 2014).Separate toilets for male and female to ensure their privacy. Different wards for mentally ill patients. The increment in a number of skilled staff members was made to help in the delivery of proper services without any errors. Training of staff on a routine basis was encouraged for proper implementation of policies and theories of healthcare. Reporting CQC about any faulty practices or any incident of abuse and harm to an individual at the care home and helping the organization to prevent any such incident was done. All staff members hired is well skilled and equipped to be able to perform all tasks at the care home and for this purpose rotational duties are granted to them. Check on quality of supplies and quantity for prevention of misuse (Mashaw&Marmor, 1994).I also regularly keep track by taking feedbacks from residents about the services provided and any issues regarding healthcare services and also take into consideration any complaints and find proper solutions to attain consumer satisfaction. A safe protected and healthy environment is maintained to ensure residents at care home of friendly and comfortable stay with all theirneeds getting fulfilled. 16
