Building Healthy Communities: Addressing Sexually Transmitted Infections and Blood Borne Viruses

This presentation discusses the impact of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Blood Borne Viruses (BBVs) on communities and populations, and provides an action plan for addressing these health issues. Prevention strategies for STIs and BBVs are also discussed. Proper education and awareness can help build a healthier community.

Impact – Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s) and Blood Borne Viruses (BBV’s) impacts the community and population in large manner and this helps in addressing that the people are facing many challenges which are related to these
diseases and infections. Infections are transmitted during sex and due to this there are high risk and chances of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s) Broady & et.al., (2020). This infection can further leave the body with HIV and many other
infections which are easily communicable. Blood Borne Viruses (BBV’s) are passed within the body through the blood stream from where the virus enters the blood stream through another person. The body of the individual is infected which
makes the risk of having infection in the liver and immune system by creating negative impacts on the human body at large scale.

Key point - changes - Community – The major changes
which are to be undertaken within the community are –
• With the help of proper services to be provided by the nurse, there are
changes which are brought in the community so that the people living in the
community are aware of the risk of having been prone to Sexually Transmitted
Infections (STI’s) and Blood Borne Viruses (BBV’s) infections Callander, Moreira
& et.al., (2018).
• Protection should be taken care of by wearing the PPE and masks by the nurse
so that there are less chances of having been prone to be infected by Sexually
Transmitted Infections (STI’s) and Blood Borne Viruses (BBV’s).
• Nurses should take concern of providing the other safety measures and
services to make the individuals aware living within the community.
Key point - changes - Population – There are some
significant and important changes which should be taken by the population and
these are addressed as –
• Proper education should be provided to the population so that they are aware
of the health issue which is Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s) and Blood
Borne Viruses (BBV’s) Broady, Cama & et.al., (2018).
• The nurses should provide the education and knowledge about having the
unhealthy sex to be aware of the health issue Sexually Transmitted Infections
(STI’s). This will make the population be aware of the negative effects of the
infection and diseases.
Therefore, with the help of proper education, the population will be made
aware of this health issue which is affecting their body in an inappropriate
manner and preventive measures cam be taken into concern for such infections.

Action Plan - The action plan has been framed by considering the Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s) and Blood Borne Viruses
(BBV’s) health issue and this is framed by utilizing the Stage 2 in HPPC is – Conducting a Situational Assessment which is explained such as –
The Situation – The community and population of Australia are facing the health issue which is Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s) and
Blood Borne Viruses (BBV’s). Due to this, they are seem to having been infected and are at the risk of being prone to such infection and
disease Taqaddas, (2020).
What is making it better and worse – The education and services which are provided are making the situation better by keeping the
community and population aware of the health issue and what is making it worse is that the population and the community are unaware of
the risk which the infection has created.
Prevention Strategies for Blood Borne Viruses (BBV’s) and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s) –
• Avoid using the towels and underclothing.
• Wearing appropriate PPE and masks.
• Avoidance of contacts with body fluid or blood.
• Getting tested for infections and diseases.
