This can be considered as one of the major incapability of the human resource management in an organisation operating within the aviation industry to retain their employees for a longer period (Karatepe and Vatankhah 2014). Constantly increasing competitive pressure in the market makes it difficult for the organisations to retain their employees. A number of factors along with the competitive nature of the market facilitates in determining the employee turnover rate. This research will focus on identification of the factors involved in employee turnover. This particular topic is selected for the research due to its importance and the growing challenges faced by the organisations on the same. This will help identifying the major factors supplementing in the increased rate of employee turnover in the aviation sector, which will further facilitate in addressing the issues, as the HR departments will then have knowledge on the source of the issue. 1.2 Research Objectives To understand the issues causing into high turnover in the aviation sector This will communicate the challenges faced by the HR management that limits their ability to retain their staffs. To identify the employees’ understanding of the turnover rate and the reasons affecting it Thiswillhelpidentifyingtheneedoftheemployeesthatiscausinginto dissatisfaction, which ultimately facilitating into rising the turnover rate of the employees. Author’s nameReport Title (shorten if necessary) 2.Methodology 2.1 Research Approach taken The approach elected for the research is deductive as it focuses on identification of the issues causing employee turnover in aviation industry. The source of data is of two types that are primary and secondary. The data that will be utilised for this research is of both primary and secondary types. Moreover, the data collection method that will be implemented in this case is the quantitative data collection method that according to Flick (2015) deals with the statistical data. Type of data that would be used in the research has been discussed in the following. 2.2 Secondary Research. Secondary data is usually collected from a vast reading source. However, for the proposed research, the secondary data will be collected from the peer-reviewed journals, articles, news media, books, blogs and other wide reading resources. Considering the fact of reliability, the data will be collected from the credible and reliable sources such as university library, government publications and books of authors with copyrights. 2.3 Primary Research Sampling Survey Questionnaire 2.4 Primary Research Data Collection Plan Sampling method suited for this research is the probabilistic random sampling. This allows to random the sample population within the total target population, where no other variables interfere in the process. Hence, the validity and authenticity of the sample remains high (Acharya et al 2013). Furthermore, the research will be using stratified random sampling Unit 8: HND Business (Management) Business Project February 2018 Page9of21
Author’s nameReport Title (shorten if necessary) where the sample population will be divided into a number of groups. The sample here will be divided into two broad groups that are employees and the management. Primary data collection method implemented in this case will be survey method. The survey will be conducted on both the employees and management of the sample population. Responses of the participants will be collected using questionnaire, which will be comprised of a set of closed-ended questions and will be distributed through online. This in case of employees will help in identifying the need for satisfaction in which the organisations lack. The questionnaire for the management will seek to answer the management issues faced in the process of organising the employees. 2.5 Data Analysis Selected tool for analysing the questionnaires is regression analysis tool that will help in identifying the variables involved and their relation with the issues. The relation between dependent and independent variables will be identified and explained using this model of analysis. This will help determining how the factors related alters the rate of employee turnover in the aviation industry (Woodside 2013). Furthermore, the research will incorporate statistical description method for presenting the results obtained from the regression analysis for understanding of the readers (Tang and Zhang 2013). Author’s nameReport Title (shorten if necessary) 3.4 Statement of Assumptions / Problems / Limitations It is possible to assume that the increased rate of employee turnover is a result of the increased dissatisfaction. Hence, the analysis of the possible motivators can be analysed for gaining knowledge of the situation. For example, companies might be facing issue with appropriate leadership implementation, incentive structure of the company may not be appropriate or the shift hours may create issue for the employees etc. Hence, the research will be directed to identify similar factors that are facilitating in the increased turnover. The first identifiable problem in the research can be gaining access to the existing literature. There are a wide range of literatures available in google scholar. However, only a limited few provide access to the compete report. Hence, this is one of the primary issue in the research. The second issue likely to occur in this case is the active willingness of the respondents participating in the research. They might not feel comfortable in providing time for conducting proper research as their job role is bound by tight schedule. Thirdly, the data accessed might not be completely authentic. The respondents might provide invalid or vague responses to the questions asked to safeguard their personal interest, which restricts the reliability of the research. Lastly, the ethics of the research has to match with the company privacy terms and policies, which might restrict the accessibility to the data required for the research. Author’s nameReport Title (shorten if necessary) 4.Code of Ethics Addressing the code of ethics in research is of primary important for maintaining the authenticity and the validity of the research. Ethics in research as defined by Sekaran and Bougie, (2016) are the legal, social and political issues occurs due to involvement of human subjects. This is considered as the obligations, which will be properly addressed in this research. Prior approval from the respondents will be taken for voluntary participation in the research. The personal information of the respondents will be kept secret for safeguarding their interest. Moreover, the data will be safely kept in the personal cloud storage for avoiding data theft. Lastly, the literatures used will be properly cited for avoiding plagiarism. In order to avoid unnecessary issues, research ethics will be applied to the all stages of the research. When developing the design of the research, the research must ensure that proposed research does not include any offensive content that would be inappropriate for the other parties. For example, the research makes sure that the proposed study does not publish any data that is against organization’s will. Particularly, the collection of data is a crucial stage where ethics must be applied. For example, the research must have to ensure that analysis in the research does not insult others’ work. The research will not use any papers that have biased contents. Likewise, at the time of collecting the primary data, the researcher must have to ensure that no respondent has been forced to take part in the research. Before engaging the employees of the organization in the survey and interview, employees’ as well as organizational consent must be taken. The researcher needs to have a consent form signed by University’s authorities. In the consent form, there should be a written statement that the researcher would not use the data for any other purpose besides academic use. On the other side, there are respondents who do not like to publish or reveal their name, in such a context, the researcher needs to ensure that the proposed study follows the principle ofData Protection Act 1998.This means that the Unit 8: HND Business (Management) Business Project February 2018 Page18of21
Author’s nameReport Title (shorten if necessary) researcher must follow the rules of confidentiality and security. The owner of the research must ensure that that data would not be published on any unauthorized forum or channels. In addition, while designing the questionnaire for collecting primary data, the researcher must have to consider the fact that no question contends sentimental elements that may hurt participants’ sentiments or ethics. Moreover, the researcher must have to ensure that the participants hold the right of withdrawing their participation at any moment they wish.
